Review of the situation[edit]

I've reviewed the situation and posted comments here. Feel free to reply there as well. Thanks for your patience.--GnoworTC 23:20, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Another update here.--GnoworTC 03:17, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hello - thanks for the message. I'm going to manually archive that message now, and I want you to understand that I have no involvement in the subject other than a) stopping the behavior of a disruptive user, who keeps trying to insert material into an existing article that consensus agreed should be be deleted, and b) to stop the edit war that was in progress. As I said on my user page, I don't care if you're right or wrong or if anyone else in the melee is right or wrong. I care that the policies of Wikipedia are respected, and one of those policies is that when consensus is reached, it should be respected. The IP in question keeps trying to insert this list of citations, his behavior is disruptive, and it has to stop.
I've read Gnowor's 'final thoughts' [and the update to his final thoughts ;-)], and I encourage you and everybody who is involved to discuss (when the block expires, hopefully the IP editor can start to edit constructively). Other than that, I'm done with the topic. Thanks. KrakatoaKatie 06:06, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Another update from both Crusio and myself. Looks like Crusio wasn't satisfied with the proposed solution. You can find that and my response here.--GnoworTC 18:24, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

re: page size in KB[edit]

Hello again - thanks for the message.

Don't put so much emphasis on the size of an article in KB. Two articles of approximately the same length may have a big difference in actual amount of data because of citations, templates, files (images and/or sound) and so on. If an article has a photograph that's 35 KB in size, that photo contributes to the amount of data required to load the page in your browser.

It's not a measure of importance of one article over another. Actually, we have many, many users who are still on slow, dial-up connections and/or do not have broadband Internet access; those users prefer articles and pages that are smaller, with fewer photos and images, because those pages take less time to load.

I encourage you to work to improve the other articles with content from reliable sources, rather than trying to remove content from an article that may be larger in terms of data stored. Again, it has absolutely no bearing on notability or importance of the subject at hand.

Since you added almost more than 3.5 kb to my talk page, I'm going to manually archive that post in consideration of those users on slower connections. I wouldn't be surprised if that's why Crusio removed those similar messages from his talk page, which he (and everyone, including me) is absolutely allowed to do without permission or penalty.

Thanks again for the message. KrakatoaKatie 01:11, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries[edit]

When you edit sections of pages, it generally helps to not blank the edit summary so it can be easily determined from the page history which section you edited.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 05:27, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please leave the "/* Section title */" in your edit summaries in the future.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 19:48, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Checking in[edit]

Hi BV! Hope all is going well for you on WP and in life in general. I stumbled across our discussion from December, and thought I'd check in to see how things are going. I noticed you haven't made any edits since then. Likewise, I've been a bit busy and haven't been able to contribute as much. I'm not sure how much you are on WP these days, but if you're anything like me, not a day goes by where you don't look up something. I wanted to again reaffirm how much your positive contributions to the project are valued, and while being a highly active editor on Wikipedia may not be for everyone (it's certainly not for me), any positive contribution you can make is valued. Hope you feel free to edit anytime the mood strikes you or you see something you can improve. Again, hope all is well!--GnoworTC 18:10, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
