Arrested Development (film)[edit]

Oh, I just used material already in the TV series article under "Movie." I can't wait for the AD movie, so I always check the article to see if the movie section is updated. This time, to my joy, I saw there was a whole article about the movie. --Sir Bradfordshire (talk) 04:17, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We've been merged, but I kept the info at User:Dominik92/AD film and you are free to contribute to that all you want, then we'll recreate when the film is confirmed. The DominatorTalkEdits 07:08, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Contribute to the User:Dominik92/AD film page instead of the main AD page, I'll recreate the article from that rather than the AD subsection (or you can if you wish), we'll have more workspace and freedom there too. The DominatorTalkEdits 04:40, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey mate, I've written to you on the AD page, but just to add: http://www.defamer.com.au/2008/06/what_a_fun_sexy_time_for_us_jason_bateman_confirms_arrested_development_movie_to_shoot_next_year-2.html

YAY!!!

Photo request[edit]

I see you mostly seem to work on Arrested Development stuff (great show btw) but I am looking for someone willing to take and upload a few photos of the historic McDonald's sign in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. If you could help (I don't know how far that is for you) it would be most appreciated, as I intend to write an article about the sign, but want to make sure I can get some photos for it first. IvoShandor (talk) 12:35, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Now, that's awesome, no rush. Let me see what I have on the address, as the McDonald's (and the sign) recently relocated from what I understand. IvoShandor (talk) 16:52, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It was located on Main Street in Pine Bluff . Last fall, the store moved: new store, old sign. From what I can find, it is now on Olive Street, unless plans changed between then and when the store opened. Google Maps, give's an address of 5501 S. Olive St. when you search for McDonald's in Pine Bluff, it's somewhere right near the I-530 exit on S. Olive, but I don't see it on "street view", yet, still looking. The sign is a rare single arched McDonald's sign, it lights up (night and day photos would be stellar if possible, just like it were the old days. IvoShandor (talk) 17:05, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nice shot, man that was fast. Thanks a bunch. I have started the article in [my sandbox]. Take a look if you like, I will incorporate your photo too. I'll see if DYK might want to use the article and the photo, maybe get 'em both on the front page. BTW what happened to the other McDonald's sign you heard about? Just tossed probably huh? IvoShandor (talk) 13:07, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you could join the League of Copyeditors, and volunteer around Peer Review, both always need new members and both maintain lists of participants that you can add yourself too. I did that and have two copy editing jobs on hiatus right now, hopefully I will finish them today. If you sign up at those two places people will come to you with requests. If you prefer article writing or improvement there are number of ways to get involved otherwise. One of the big things I have taken upon myself is to try improve Wikipedia's coverage of the area where I live (northern Illinois - GO HUSKIES!), but I digress. If you need any assistance I am glad to help with whatever (finding stuff do and whatnot) I just came back to Wiki after about a 5 month hiatus but I have been editing since September 2006 so I pretty much know the ropes around here. :) Hope that helps. IvoShandor (talk) 13:18, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I will do that, that sign looks so out of place with that new building. I found some a photo gallery online the other day from a Pine Bluff paper that actually showed them taking it down and moving it, pretty neat. Unfortunately I can't find it right now. IvoShandor (talk) 13:35, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(unindent)I don't know if you're familiar with Barnstars or care about them or not, but I wanted to show my appreciation for you having gone out of your way to get that photo.

The Photographer's Barnstar
I, IvoShandor, hereby bestow upon you, Broooooooce, this digital coin-like thing. For having gone above and beyond the call of Wikipedia duty to obtain a photograph of a historic sign at least one hour from home. Again, thanks and awesome photo. IvoShandor (talk) 14:19, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It looks pretty good in the article, check my sandbox. IvoShandor (talk) 14:19, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article has room for another photograph if you have one that you feel is worthy. IvoShandor (talk) 18:02, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also, the article is now published see McDonald's Sign (Pine Bluff, Arkansas), I am trying to think of a good "hook" for DYK, any thoughts? IvoShandor (talk) 19:03, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I nominated it at DYK with your suggestion and photo along with a couple of other suggestions for them to choose from. No guarantee they'll use the photo but it's pretty eye-catching so I'd say there is a good chance. IvoShandor (talk) 19:24, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DYK[edit]

Updated DYK query On 27 April, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article McDonald's Sign (Pine Bluff, Arkansas), which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Thank you for taking the photograph for the article. The photograph is currently featured on the main page. It's one of the most interesting DYK photographs that I've seen on the main page in the past year. Thank you for going out of your way to take the photo - it was worth it! --Royalbroil 17:54, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was hoping you'd get to see it on the front page. IvoShandor (talk) 19:41, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad you got to enjoy seeing your photograph on the main page. I've never had that honor even though I have nominated several of my own pictures. Royalbroil 01:51, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Don't mind all the complainers on the talk page btw, the topic is notable enough by Wikipedia standards, and keep in mind that the satisfied consumer never voices their opinion. :) IvoShandor (talk) 03:19, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Arrested Development Taskforce Invite[edit]

Hey there. I couldn't help noticing that you appear to be interested in Arrested Development. I am interested in setting up a Arrested Development Taskforce to improve articles related to Arrested Development. At the moment I am just looking for people who are interested in joining. If you are interested in joining, please add your name here or contact me on my talk page. Thankyou, Joelster (talk) 23:45, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thankyou for expressing your interest in the Arrested Development Taskforce. It has been set up and can be found here. You are welcome (but certainly not obligated) to join. Thanks, Joelster (talk) 06:44, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Little Rock neighborhoods[edit]

Nice work on documenting Stifft Station. I particularly liked the architectural notes, and the photos of buildings half a mile from my home (!).

Do you plan to document other neighborhoods in the city? I'm guessing you live in/grew up in Stifft Station, so it's of particular importance to you, but are you going to expand your coverage? I'd put in a shameless plug for Hillcrest at this point, but I'm guessing you've heard it all, so I'll refrain.

Tevebaugh (talk) 16:09, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your descision to leave the Arrested Development Taskforce[edit]

Hi. I'd like to encourage you to rejoin the Arrested Development Taskforce. We need people like you. Although I am retiring from WP, I am commited to helping this Taskforce. You don't have to, but please reconsider your descision. Thanks, Joelster (talk) 07:41, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, that's okay. I will work on inviting more people to join the taskforce in the near future. Thanks for all your hard work on the film, it's looking good! Joelster (talk) 23:47, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A decently decent proposal[edit]

In light of our recent collaboration (and the fact that you're 30 and I will be in a mere several months) if there is something listed on the National Register of Historic Places in your area (see List of Registered Historic Places in Arkansas) that you want an article for, and have a photo for, I am willing to occasionally complete one which meets the DYK criteria at your request. IvoShandor (talk) 12:59, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Of course I have ideas! What kind of ideas were you looking for, I have some expertise in U.S. History (the Civil Rights Movement especially so), Central High School Historic District is an important article and I have done several decent district articles. I can point you at a few, just for some ideas on structure. Districts require a bit more work but can be great articles when done properly. I have noticed that district articles are really disappointing when they're too short, unlike the articles on individual buildings, which can be informative with just a few sentences in a few sections and a photo.IvoShandor (talk) 14:06, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also, projects ebb and flow, it's just their nature. Not many of the state projects are very active but there are folks out there working quietly. You might be interested in WikiProject National Register of Historic Places, there are multiple very active editors, always active discussion on the talk page and a number of resources and yet to be developed areas of the project, there's even a historic districts task force you can join there. IvoShandor (talk) 14:16, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds like a great plan, it's basically what I do around here for the most part, I have extensively improved coverage of my area. I will take a look at and absorb those links. Here are a few historic districts I have worked on (read completely written and photographed):
All but the first are recent additions to Wikipedia. IvoShandor (talk) 14:28, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Likely there will be two separate articles eventually, the historic district is going to have a specific period of significance and won't include the entirety of what is in the neighborhood article, especially any early history. But work on it how you want, these district articles/sections tend to get long so lend themselves pretty naturally to their own page. Go ahead and start it as the neighborhood, it can be assessed as you go along, nothing's ever set in stone around here. :) IvoShandor (talk) 14:32, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Little Rock Central High School[edit]

Since you are editing a great deal in that article, I'm just giving you a heads up that I may create two main sections of the article (one for the school and academics and one for the national historic landmark). I don't know when I'll start but thank you for sourcing and editing the article. Reorion (talk) 19:52, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

TfD of Template:Little Rock neighborhoods[edit]

I'm nominating this template for deletion because another template already exists (Template:Little Rock, Arkansas neighborhoods) I only nominated the Template:Little Rock neighborhoods because it was created months (maybe years) later than the one that already exists. Just another heads up. Reorion (talk) 20:10, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well I already nominated it. I'm just going to support merging it, not full out deletion. I'll take the time and change the templates for the neighborhood articles though, I believe an admin will just do a redirect for this. Reorion (talk) 20:19, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Update: Already merged. I just redirected the page. The other one is quite similar to the one that was already there so it shouldn't be that different. Some articles were using the old one and some were using the new ones so its just easier to do it this way. Sorry if this is an inconvenience. Reorion (talk) 20:22, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What to do[edit]

Hi Broooooce (sp?), the two options you have for Bedford are opening a Request for comment on his actions or posting something at the Administrator's Notice board. I would probably wait and see if writes any new articles using the Northern Aggression title, and then open an RfC.

Since you are new, you should know that Ivo has left once before and only fairly recently came back. This may color some editors' and administrators' reactions to the whole incident and I would probably focus almost exclusively on the WP:NPOV aspect of the name usage, as well as the fact that it is just the wrong link (which ticks me off as much, if not more). Ruhrfisch ><>°° 15:45, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, taking a break, trying not to overreact, I'll be about a bit here and there. I'm a bit concerned because apparently the name of the game is poisoning the well and ad hominem attacks around here, so don't buy it. I guess everything I say must be false, cuz I'm just crazy Ivo who blows his top and leaves every 6 months. Nevermind the fact of my actual contribution history. Sorry to put you in this position, feel free to completely ignore the situation, that is my intention now. IvoShandor (talk) 22:45, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm calmer today. I will be around but am taking a break of sorts. IvoShandor (talk) 15:43, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AR NRHPs[edit]

Hi, glad you seem to find my comments helpful. You mentioned that you "went to the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program and made copies of the original documents." I wonder, can you tell me how that works, do you have to make an appointment, where is it, how much does it cost to make copies? I would like to add that kind of info to the sub-section on state-specific sources within Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places#Help for editors. Or it would be fine if you added some instructions there yourself, directly.

Also, FYI, you can request free copies of NRHP documents to be sent to you by postal mail, from the National Register in Washington, D.C. (see how-to info about that at the Help for editors section mentioned above). That can take a couple weeks. You may find it easier to visit the AHPP directly.

Also, can you sometime take a look at List of National Historic Landmarks in Arkansas? The National Historic Landmarks in the state are kind of an honor roll of the NRHPs. This list lacks photos for a number of sites, and some photos are old black and white ones. It would be great if you could contribute photos or otherwise improve this list and the corresponding articles.

Cheers, doncram (talk) 07:57, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gazette Bldg[edit]

Looks a-OK to me, you meet the character requirement by a long shot. The only other real requirement is that the article/DYK fact is referenced, and your article is well-referenced. I would keep checking back at the DYK page to make sure no one raises any issues that might need addressed by you before it appears. Nice work, rad building (that's right-I used the word "rad").IvoShandor (talk) 12:11, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I did move the (pictured) notation over, it should immediately follow the subject that is pictured, in this case the Gazette Building, you had it after Little Rock, no big deal though, I changed it for ya.IvoShandor (talk) 12:14, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Featured Arkansas article of the month:

  • Monte Ne is an area in the Ozark hills of the White River valley east of Rogers on the edge of Beaver Lake in the U.S. State of Arkansas. From 1901 until the mid-1930s the area was a health resort and ambitious planned community. It was owned and operated by William Hope Harvey, a financial theorist and one time U.S. Presidential nominee. Two of its hotels, "Missouri Row" and "Oklahoma Row", were the largest log buildings in the world. Oklahoma Row's "tower section" is one of the earliest examples of a multi-story cement structure. The tower is the only structure of Monte Ne still standing. Monte Ne introduced the first indoor swimming pool in Arkansas, and was also the site of the only presidential convention ever held in Arkansas. (more...)
