MyPolonia.com removed?[edit]

Hi,

The text in the code for List of social networking websites states:

IF YOU DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO THIS MESSAGE, YOUR EDIT WILL BE ROLLED BACK WITHOUT WARNING.
ONLY place entries here that are links to actual Wikipedia articles about notable social networking sites. External links, redlinks, substubs, non-notable sites or sites that are not social networking sites will be removed. If you have questions, use the talk page. Please try to keep entries in alphabetical order. Adding unnecessary links or text anywhere else will also be removed. Thanks.
Please see "WP:WEB" for information on notability for websites on Wikipedia.
Editors are encouraged to "WP:WTAF".

As explained in WP:WTAF, this rule is to avoid the list filling up with large numbers of non-notable or unverifiable sites, and avoid it from being just used to advertise people's sites. If you think MyPolonia.com is notable, it's best to first write the article at MyPolonia.com or MyPolonia. Mdwh (talk) 04:21, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your quick reply. I did have an article on Wikipedia linked to my listing on "List of social networking websites" but I see that the article is gone. I guess I will have to figure out what happened to that. I guess I will have to revise the article to a point that it will not be deleted. Is there a place where I can submit the article to see if it is good enough to be posted, or should I just post and hope for the best? Thank you for your help. Ah, I didn't see that. It was deleted because "Web content which doesn't indicate its importance or significance" - it's a requirement that all articles should assert why the website is important. It doesn't have to be proven, just asserted in some way - see Wikipedia:CSD#A7: "to avoid speedy deletion an article does not have to prove that its subject is notable, just give a reasonable indication of why it might be notable". E.g., has it been mentioned in 3rd party sources, does/did it have some particularly novel/unique features, does it fulfill a particular niche, has it been rated highly, or does it have a large number of users. Also see WP:WEB for what's ideally expected of a page. Perhaps take a look at the other sites linked from List of social networking websites to see how they do it.
Unfortunately I can't see what the article was, so I have no idea if the deletion was justified or not. The editor who deleted the article is User talk:A Man In Black, if you want to ask him about it, or ask for more suggestions.
Unfortunately there's no standard way to see if an article is good enough other than going ahead and creating it (I always keep a local copy whenever I create a new article). However, it is possible to create a temporary user subpage, where you could then ask people to have a look at it (e.g., create the page at User:Calisun/MyPolonia.com).
