Hey everyone! I only really edit pages when I see something wrong with them, usually grammar/spelling errors, but occasionally I'll find NPOV issues and other things. I'll try not to start fights or anything - LOL!

Self-published sources and biographies[edit]

Please read WP:SPS and WP:BLP. The tweets that you are adding to John Halpern (artist) are not acceptable as sources. Schazjmd (talk) 18:03, 7 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Schazjmd: I have read both policies. The tweet contains an actual video of the subject of the article giving the quote mentioned in the article. Where, specifically, is this prohibited? There are mentions of discouraging use of tweets, but no rules forbid it. As for the article itself, it was picked up by the New York Post (https://web.archive.org/web/20190927170802/https://nypost.com/2019/09/26/foul-mouthed-climate-activist-derails-park-slope-bike-lane-meeting/) and City and State NY (http://web.archive.org/web/20191202101513/https://www.cityandstateny.com/articles/politics/new-york-city/wildest-new-york-city-community-meetings.html), and other outlets (https://wcbs880.radio.com/articles/news/bike-lane-meeting-brooklyn-ends-fight, https://bklyner.com/shouting-shoving-and-epstein-accusations-break-out-at-park-slope-town-hall/, https://patch.com/new-york/parkslope/bike-lane-meeting-comes-blows-screaming-match-park-slope, http://carrnyc.blogspot.com/2019/09/uproar-and-park-slope-ninth-stbike-lane.html). On what grounds are these other sources not acceptable? Carps (talk) 18:23, 7 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
A tweet is a self-published source. A self-published source cannot be used to source content about living persons. See in WP:SPS where it says Never use self-published sources as third-party sources about living people? Also see in WP:BLP where it says Be very firm about the use of high-quality sources. All quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be supported by an inline citation to a reliable, published source. Contentious material about living persons (or, in some cases, recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion. Users who persistently or egregiously violate this policy may be blocked from editing.? I did not remove the content sourced to Gothamist, I removed the content sourced to tweets.
