September 2022[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Talk:Kiwi Farms. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Sideswipe9th (talk) 03:09, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Per BRD, the people reverting my revert (including you) are edit warring, not me. We should be discussing. Dropping this warning on my userpage after I've invited you to have an actual discussion about it seems a bit rude, don't you think?CelebrateMotivation (talk) 03:14, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've also dropped a warning at Stephanie921's talk page. Both of you are being disruptive at the moment, and you have blown way past the WP:3RR limit, with 6 reverts in the last half hour. Sideswipe9th (talk) 03:21, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I agree the situation is out of control. But per BRD, edits should have stopped at my initial revert and we should have discussed as I have repeatedly requested. I am sure that Graham11's application of the tag was in good faith, and it would have been nice to address his concerns directly rather than get dogpiled by other people who I (coincidentally, I am sure) had disagreements with in the RFC. What do you want to do about it now?CelebrateMotivation (talk) 03:25, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As you are way past the 3RR limit, I would invite you once to self-revert per the text at WP:3RR If an editor violates 3RR by mistake, they should reverse their own most recent reversion. After that, I would suggest discussing it on @Graham11:'s talk page, which is what you should have done in the first place. Sideswipe9th (talk) 03:33, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I believe that one of us is misunderstanding how BRD works. Perhaps you can help me out here? My understanding is that someone "boldly" makes a change - in this case, Graham11 added the tag. Someone disagrees with this change - in this case, me - then "reverts" it. If there's still further disagreement, a "discussion" then results. I'm happy to chat with Graham11 about it - indeed I assumed he'd be coming to my talk page after the revert! In any event, it seems that the page is currently in the state that it should have stayed until some kind of discussion happened. I don't edit Wikipedia often but I've tried to make myself familiar with the rules to avoid situations like this. Am I misunderstanding something here?CelebrateMotivation (talk) 03:40, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
WP:BRD is one of many approaches to editing on Wikipedia, but even that essay is subservient to the WP:3RR policy. As the text at the top of WP:EW states Claiming "My edits were right, so it wasn't edit warring" is not a valid defense. Again, I offer you one chance to self-revert, and then open discussions with Graham11. Sideswipe9th (talk) 03:42, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
