Horley

I wonder why you think the EL you removed here doesn't comply with WP:EL?Atlas-maker (talk) 19:29, 22 October 2013 (UTC)

It does not qualify per WP:EL. Try reading that policy and happy editing.--Charles (talk) 19:47, 22 October 2013 (UTC)
I have. That's why I asked you for your reasoning as I couldn't see from the policy why you felt it should be removed. Perhaps you can explain your rationale? Atlas-maker (talk) 19:59, 22 October 2013 (UTC)
If we included links for every local organisation it would become a directory and that is something which Wikipedia is not. If you want a specific reason it does not add anything which would not already be covered in a Good Article.--Charles (talk) 21:54, 22 October 2013 (UTC)
I beg to differ. It provides a link to a directory of local education institutions as per WP:ELMAYBE#3. It is well chosen as it is very specific and quite unique to the Horley area. I'll restore the link if you have no other good reason.
While I'm here, why do you keep removing the navigation template? You seem to be indicating that it's in the wrong place. Where is the right place then? Or at least a place where you will tolerate it? Atlas-maker (talk) 22:08, 22 October 2013 (UTC)
External links is not a place for directories. If we must have an ugly location box it normally comes in Geography but it would be better written as prose.--Charles (talk) 18:36, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
it seems that your view is not a consensus view. Just click your way through these and see how many are in EL, however to avoid a nonsensical edit war I'll agree to it being placed in an alternate location. Perhaps you can point out instances of your preference? Atlas-maker (talk) 22:33, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

Can you point out where it says in the guidelines that See also section shouldn't contain a compass rose? And why did you revert unrelated edits? Atlas-maker (talk) 17:49, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

Don't waste my time asking for chapter and verse when it is common knowledge. That template goes in Geography if it goes anywhere.--Charles (talk) 00:10, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
But no answer as to why you you reverted the unrelated edits. Why not just put in a Geography section? If you look at what actually happens, its either See also, Geography or EL. But never in a heading called Surrounding Areas. So Did you put it there? I think I know the answer. Atlas-maker (talk) 00:31, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

Long time no see

Totally my fault. This Onion article reminded me of a mutual acquaintance of ours (and got me thinking I should probably more formally semi-retire, but that's another matter). Ian.thomson (talk) 19:44, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

Nice one. I hope your retirement is only semi as your talent will be missed. I was actually going to contact you recently about notability of some religious organisations only to find you are not active. Best wishes--Charles (talk) 20:48, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for November 1

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited West Sussex, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Winterbourne (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hey there- question about 2 articles

They don't strike me as ones to keep but possiby they are ok (well, one probably is..) - so I thought I'd ask before tagging them (or waiting to see what someone else tags them as..) Would you take a look and give your opinion? Hotspots Intelligent Business Alerts and it's parent page Verix-- 🍺 Antiqueight confer 21:22, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi again. I just got back from a weekend in North Yorkshire. M1 as nasty as ever. Not sure about the notability of the company from a quick look but the product should certainly be covered at the company per WP:PRODUCT.--Charles (talk) 10:16, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks - will look at them again tomorrow. M1 was never one I knew well, M6 was my bane..-- 🍺 Antiqueight confer 00:00, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
