Odd external link

Please excuse me asking more questions. On Heart North Wales the second external link (in red with V.T.E to the left) is a drop down table which I cannot find how to edit. It contains some familiar non notables that need removing even if it is not to be removed entirely. Where is the editable version? Thank you. SovalValtos (talk) 20:43, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Sensible questions always welcome. The template is a separate page. You can edit it by clicking on the E of VTE. I also collapsed the thing for tidiness. They are designed to automatically collapse anyway if there is more than one on a page.Charles (talk) 22:42, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
Thank you. It is easy when you know how! SovalValtos (talk) 07:19, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

Cerne Abbas external links

Hi Charles. I added two external links to the Cerne Abbas page. While I can understand removing the link to the cerne valley directory, I'm not entirely sure why the cerne valley portal link has been removed. The cerne valley portal web-site is developed by the community in Cerne Abbas and is primarily about Cerne Abbas. The site is meant as a guidebook for visitors and residents alike and the information is original and written by the residents themselves, covering information which itself is not available on the wiki page. the link is http://www.cernevalley.co.uk. Under which guideline do you this link is not relevant to the Cerne Abbas wikipedia page? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nic Newdigate (talkcontribs) 16:55, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

We normally only allow official sites, i.e. parish, town or district councils. We have no way of knowing who it is actually written by. I see no reason to make an exception for this.Charles (talk) 17:53, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
Cerne Valley Parish Council commissioned and funded the website - would this make it eligible to be added to the Cerne Abbas wikipedia page? Nic Newdigate (talk) 12:15, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
Not in my opinion but you can always propose it on the article talk page.Charles (talk) 14:11, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

Lewes "see also" section

Thanks for the amend. I didn't realise the wiki etiquette is only to have "see also" links which are not already linked from within the page. Is that a universal standard for wikipedia?

PellsPool (talk) 10:04, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)Sorry to butt in but yes. Please see WP:SEEALSO where (inter alia) it says 'As a general rule, the "See also" section should not repeat links that appear in the article's body or its navigation boxes.' Best wishes DBaK (talk) 10:55, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

About Adoption

Hi there! As I'm new to the editing area can you adopt me and help to contribute in wiki. Thank you! --Jaaron95 12:44, 1 April 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaaron95 (talkcontribs)

Hi Jaaron95. You seem to be doing well already. You will probably find the Teahouse more help than me because of the range of editors with wide knowledge working there.Charles (talk) 08:06, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
@Charles: If you would like to go to look in here , the reason for this message will become clear (English is my first language by the way). Although I'm thinking you've guessed it's about adoption, since the message is under the heading About Adoption. Thanks Whalestate (talk) 14:22, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
Sorry. I am too busy to take on any new project just now.Charles (talk) 20:58, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

Why delete my post on Sitush (Talk)

Hi Charles, whatever I have written there is true. And truth is always bitter. This is a case of vandalism. He(Sitush) removes each and every wikiedit that enlightened hidden truth about Jats race, it's notable people, great Jat kings and of course their history. For example; NNehra (talk) 11:50, 2 April 2015 (UTC)Everything is written there about Maharaja Surajmal was deleted by this guy which is against the real proved facts and history and shows the biased behaviour. But you did not take any action against him. He is trying to vandalised the real facts and history. Please take an action against him also.

Thanks, NNehra

  NNehra (talk) 11:39, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
  • (talk page stalker) NNehra, you need to read WP:CIVIL and WP:NPA before you say anything else here. You do NOT get to speak to people like that here, no matter what your grievance is. Charles was quite right to remove your intemperate comments. Calm down, be polite, and you will get further. DBaK (talk) 16:43, 2 April 2015 (UTC)

Southend Airport

I see you deleted an edit I made regarding a new service from Southend Airport. I take it there is some convention preventing seasonal services being included? I wasn't aware of that so I apologise. Anyway, that being the case you need to further edit the page as you left some other seasonal services on there. I often wonder at the logic used when these decisions are reached by consensus and get increasingly frustrated at the haphazard way these seem to be applied by editors. Kind regards. Hey hey

Hello Charles! I am your adoptee. I built up a new article, and I would like to represent the new article for you, regardless of whether you will edit it. Maybe the content will be interesting for you, as you are aware a little about what I do write about :) But I plan to add it with some photo shots else, made on my own. I think a year ago you told that there's an opportunity to submit articles in DYKT, so you may consider this article for this after I will finish with the foto shots, if you want. Good luck! --Sterndmitri (talk) 00:26, 24 April 2015 (UTC)

Great work! I am too busy to nominate it to DYK for you. The page is Template talk:Did you know and it has to be done within 5 days of the article being moved into the main encyclopedia, which happened on the 23rd. We try to find some unusual fact about the subject that will get attention.Charles (talk) 08:59, 24 April 2015 (UTC)
