Qiniq[edit]

Can I ask you to do two quick things for us? Firstly, could you give Image:Image-Chesterfield 6.JPG a caption that explains more clearly what the photo actually has to do with the article? I realize that the guy in the photo is probably a Qiniq employee, but other readers might not. And secondly, while I see that you included a note in the edit summary that you're the original author of the text that you copied from the Qiniq website, could you please post a brief note on Talk:Qiniq confirming that Wikipedia is authorized to use the same text? Without that somebody may challenge it as a copyright violation. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 18:43, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Perfect. Thanks. By the way, you can sign your additions to talk pages and the like by typing four tildes — ~~~~ — at the end of your comment. But obviously don't sign your contributions in articles themselves (yes, people actually do that sometimes :-) Bearcat (talk) 19:08, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on SSI Micro, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Bagheera (talk) 22:00, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article is not unsalvagable conceptually, but it reads like an ad or press release at this point. Bagheera (talk) 22:00, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As an administrator, I've taken the speedy deletion tag off SSI Micro. Although I can understand why it was added, I don't see it as excessively spammy or advertising-like — it really just needs a few relatively minor tweaks to be perfectly fine as an encyclopedia article.

Also, I took the liberty of adding your photos from that article to our articles on Liard Highway and Colville Lake, Northwest Territories as well. Bearcat (talk) 22:41, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Qiniq[edit]

I saw that you had noted on the talk page that yo are the author and owner of the material that is posted on SSI's site. What you need to do is look at Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission#When permission is confirmed and email them as indicated there. It would be best if you used one of the "at ssimicro dot com" to send the permission. Once that is done the material can be worked back in. I had to remove it before one of the copyright bots found it and tagged the article. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 00:05, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It probably would be best to do this as CBW suggested; the text you added can be quite easily restored to the article afterward. Bearcat (talk) 00:53, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry if I annoyed you but it's hard to tell if someone is who they claim they are. I have no doubt that you do have the authority to use that material but imagine how you would feel if you came to Wikipedia and found that I had copied the material from your site and pasted it in. This way there will be a record that you gave permission. By the way is Qiniq available in Bathurst or Bay Chimo? CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 04:13, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure how long it takes. Like everything eles around here it's volunteers that do it. I ment Bathurst Inlet, Nunavut which is the lodge and there are a few families back there again. The content is still there as I didn't delete it just removed it. I figured that you were who you said and there was no need to do a full delete. I just got back from Yellowknife yesterday and was just coming to answer you when I saw this. SO it should be fine. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 23:49, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
