Lugano-related question[edit]

Hello, Chris. Can you maybe identify the street on the picture (or the exact place, that I would be able to add coordinates)? Thank you. --A.Savin (talk) 13:57, 3 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm afraid not. There is something definitely familiar about it, but I cannot identify it. It is a 22 year old photograph, and I'm guessing some of the buildings may have changed, which won't help. From the street width and age of buildings it is clearly not in the older part of the city centre, but beyond that I'm afraid it has defeated me. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 15:00, 3 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

List of Funiculars in Switzerland[edit]

Hi Chris. You appear to be the godfather of this list. I'm finding a few seemingly incorrect length (of the funicular) values in the table; particularly at the top of the table (longest). Any insider knowledge on why this shouldn't be fixed? :) JGray (talk) 05:09, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the comment. I'm not sure I've ever been accused of being a godfather of a page before. :-) I've looked at the lengths of the first few, and they do seem to be slightly different to the lengths in the linked articles, and in those cases the length here seems to be from the original article before I got involved in it. So no, provided there is a decent source for a better length, please go ahead and make the changes. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 09:48, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I actually discovered after I'd written the above that the establishment of the page included an imprecise (egregiously so, in a few cases) import of the German wiki data, incorrectly combining two sections of a given funicular. JGray (talk) 02:31, 24 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reading local election[edit]

Hey Chris. I spotted that you edited the 2019 Reading Borough elections so just letting you know that I've whipped up a rough and ready 2021 Reading Borough Council election article in readiness for next year. Cheers doktorb wordsdeeds 11:37, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Doktorbuk: - Thanks for doing that. There is only one problem; the boundary changes you describe don't take effect until the 2022 elections. The 2021 elections will be contested on the current boundaries, with one councillor elected per ward. In 2022 the new boundaries will be used and, as a consequence, all the council seats (three per ward in all the new wards) will be contested. Now all I need to do is find some sources for that. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 18:05, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Aaah no, I thought there were for 2021!! Aah this is why I should have messaged you beforehand ;) ;) I'll copy and paste the table to my sandbox, thanks for the info. doktorb wordsdeeds 18:34, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article EDay (online retail) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A non-notable neologism. Proposed by Coremetrics and discussed in press releases but never caught on.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. power~enwiki (π, ν) 06:09, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Tram stops in Bruges requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read!
