December 2008[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Out From Under (Britney Spears song) has been reverted. Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): rule: '\bblog(?:cu|fa|harbor|mybrain|post|savy|spot|townhall)?\.com\b' (link(s): http://britneyspearsspy.blogspot.com/2008/12/reported-circus-singles.html) . If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).

If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Best of Hilary Duff, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. - SummerPhD (talk) 20:22, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:1abctestimony.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:1abctestimony.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:25, 25 February 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. dave pape (talk) 05:25, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:1abcheart.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. DFS454 (talk) 15:15, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Theclimb.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Theclimb.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:51, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:Jermaine_Dupri.jpg[edit]

I have tagged File:Jermaine_Dupri.jpg as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. Otherwise, it will be deleted in seven days. – Quadell (talk) 14:38, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding dates and links[edit]

I notice you've been linking a lot of dates. They shouldn't be linked unless their content is germane and topical to the subject. Please see Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(dates_and_numbers)#Linking_and_autoformatting_of_dates for the manual of style. Thanks. Erzsébet Báthory(talk|contr.) 15:03, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Totally off topic, but a singer's album article is mentioned in to different articles, to the point of making one of them unnecessary and redundant. How can I mark it for deletion?

Orphaned non-free image File:Crank It Up Still.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Crank It Up Still.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

File source problem with File:Revolvermadonna.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Revolvermadonna.jpg.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 08:29, 19 December 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 08:29, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly unfree File:Trade It All.jpg[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Trade It All.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. File copyright problem with File:Socaqueen.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Socaqueen.jpg.

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Circusstar! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 944 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Replaceable fair use File:RobinM.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:RobinM.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 week for ignoring image upload warnings. Please stop. You are welcome to make useful contributions after the block expires. This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

It was promotional material, which under two sections of appropriate copyright on Wikipedia are fine. Furthermore it was a small enough image no one could make copies, and I gave sources.

Decline reason:

Per Jpgordon below, this does not convince me that you understand the reason for your block.  Sandstein  17:30, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

This is perhaps a quite technical block, but the image upload process shows exactly how to credit the sources for such things, and a URL in the edit summary is not the way. What did you think those warnings were about? --jpgordon::==( o ) 16:11, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Adrienne Bailon, you will be blocked from editing. Nate (chatter) 06:57, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How is what I did to the Adrienne Bailon article wrong???? (Circusstar (talk) 22:32, 26 February 2010 (UTC))[reply]

It is completely unconfirmed by an outside source, as I explained. Record company PR and a fansite are unacceptable sources, and for our purposes a buzz single is completely unnotable unless it's been released for public sale. Nate (chatter) 06:12, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is the final warning that you are receiving regarding your disruptive edits. If you vandalize Wikipedia again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Your recent edits to Mariah Carey pages are classified as vandalism.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 20:14, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is there anyone in specific I can talk to? I feel many of my edits are perfectly fine and that many Wikipedia users abuse the ability to block me or delete the edits/pages. I would like to be able to ask questions and/or defend myself before its too late. (Circusstar (talk))

Use the article talk pages to discuss edits that have been reverted. The only dangerous thing is to repeatedly insert already reverted material without discussion it on the talk pages. --jpgordon::==( o ) 21:43, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wouldn't my edits then be non-existent??? (Circusstar (talk))
Not sure what you mean; no, your contested edits would not be on the article page, but anyone can see them in the article history. --jpgordon::==( o ) 16:08, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rihanna Rated R Remix Cover[edit]

The cover has been tagged for deletion in accordinance with WP:NFCC (copyright law). The article already contains one non-free media item (the album cover). The remix cover does not add anything new which conceptualizes reader understanding and has no context in the sense that the article already mentions the remix version several times. Fair use rationale for File:Danger in the Air.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Danger in the Air.jpg. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
