List of windmills in Kent

Just a note to let you know that I reverted your recent addition to the list. All that we need to know is that our grid ref (and linked coords) are correct. I'm in contact with the owner of the Windmill World website and have informed him that his coords locate to Surrey. The correct coords are 51.331592, 0.507024 or 51° 19′ 53.73″ N, 0° 30′ 25.28″ E if you prefer dms. Mjroots (talk) 05:47, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Belsey's Mill, Chatham

Great find! As the image is listed as copyright expired I uploaded it to Commons and added it to the list. A search reveals other images, but these are not all copyright expired. Those listed as "WCF" were taken by William Coles Finch, who died in 1976 1944, so are still under copyright and would need to be used under NFCC with a FUR. The one marked AWT is by A W Tiffin - I need to do further research to establish the copyright status of this one. Mjroots (talk) 19:56, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Kent windmills

Thanks for adding coords to the Kent list. I trust that they are taken from contemporary OS maps. Mjroots (talk) 20:39, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

Coords were taken from current OS maps, and checked by clicking through GeoHack -> Old OS Maps -> View at old-maps.co.uk -> 1866-1867 Town Plans, where (usually) the mill is shown.

For the mill listed as New Road Mill / Feather Mill I have added coords which click through to the mill shown in the photograph halfway down this page http://www.kenthistoryforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=5913.30 However, the 1866-1867 Town Plan shows it as Starhill Mills, which does not appear as a name on the Kent list. Starhill Mills could be Star Mill, Chatham (next to waterworks). Mjroots (talk) 22:21, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
