Hi[edit]

Paullus 02:39, 10 April 2006 (UTC) Hi Cold water, thank you for your message. But you accidentally entered it into my "User Page". Thats ok, I just shifted it over to the discussion tab.[reply]

What we should do is keep out discussion to the discussion tabs. So when you click on Paullus, make sure you click "discussion" at the top and then add in your entries there. When you make an entry tpe ~ four times to "sign" it.

What I've done is I've altered your addition of Marco Polo in the people born in Croatian territory to being "Possibly" born on Korcula (which is more accurate, because there is no definite proof he was born there) and that he was of Italian ethnicity (which is widely accepted).

I'm actually an academic of French origin, so I'm external to the Italian-Croatian tensions but have been studying the progress of the discussion in the academic field for quite some time. It appears to be a lot of nationalism on the part of the Croatians attempting to absorb Marco Polo as one of their own. The variant of his name to Marko Polic is actually very bad from an academic point of view because he was never referred to in this way and there is no proof that this was his original name. It is probable that he was born on Korcula, and it is very likely that he was of Italian ethnicity.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my message. I hope all is well and will hear from you soon. Paullus 02:39, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Paullus 05:10, 7 April 2006 (UTC) Hi there Cold water, how are you?[reply]

I posted several comments in the discussion on the topic of Marco Polo in the List of Croats and noticed that you had been replacing the "Marco Polo" entry under Explorers for the Croatian list, each time that I deleted it.

I'm not here to get into any sort of argument, but rather a friendly discussion. I was wondering why was it that you prefer to have Marco Polo (and the adition of Marko Polic) listed as a Croatian? I have recently registered myself as a user but previously was editing from the network (a number of different people edit Wiki here, so I decided to identify myself and register).

Please have a look at my discussion on Marco Polo in the List of Croats and take a look at a bunch of discussions made by Euganeo in the Marco Polo talk section.

At the very least we should enter into a dialogue so that we can clarify why I would prefer to not have Marco Polo listed there (as this is not historically verifiable) and why you would prefer to have him listed.

One more thing, please note the Wikipedia's five pillars and also Wikipedia policy on research material. It is Wikipedia's policy to ensure that pseudohistorical theories are not to be part of the Wikipedia. Ideas or theories that are not accepted by mainstream academia are not to be included here - which is the main reason why Marco Polo cannot be considered a Croatian. His alleged birth on Korcula is not a verifiable fact. What is verifiable is that he was a Venetian and for all intents and purposes, an Italian. Euganeo's comments on the matter in the Marco Polo discussion the "Polo" surname are very thorough.

All the best, and hope to hear from you soon, Paullus 05:10, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:VladimirPrelog.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:VladimirPrelog.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 01:18, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

There's a small group of Croats with surname Gervais. Most famous of them, Drago Gervais is a Croat poet. Because of possible family relationship, I've put it there on the list as possible Croat. If you have sure info that he's surely French-Canadian, remove it from the list. Kubura 09:55, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mark Begich[edit]

I noticed your comments regardng Mark Begich on Talk:Politicians of Croatian ancestry. I happen to agree with you, however, there is an accuracy dispute pending on Talk:List of Croatian Americans. See that Talk page for more details. --TommyBoy 16:40, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bernard Tomic[edit]

This is why we have Croatian diaspora. We've been through this before on List of Croats with Malkovich and the others. Tomic is a German or an Australian, regardless of his ethnicity. I will remove him from the sportspeople list until you present a source that describes him as "Croatian". Not "of Croatian descent", "Croatian parents", etc. Put him on the diaspora list if you wish. Mad Jack 20:47, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just so you're fully aware, I'm going to delete Tomic from that page as soon as I am able to under 3rr. And keep deleting him exactly three times a day. And on. And on. If you want to list him on a page that has "Croatian" in the title, Croatian diaspora is your destination. This was explained to you two months ago when we were talking about John Malkovich and the others. Mad Jack 01:16, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Croatian-Chileans, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. BlackBear 19:57, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have noticed that you have seemed interested in Crotian-related articles, and perhaps you would like to join WP:CRO. Thank you! BlackBear 20:03, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Come on then you expand on this article I'm trying to make that you wanted deleted.

Croatian-Chileans[edit]

Well, the thing was that it didn't actually give any valuable information, which is covered by the empty template, so I would suggest finding some information at some other source and trying to incorporate it into your article. Perhaps the people at WP:CRO could be of some help. BlackBear 20:10, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please sign your talk page posts[edit]

As a courtesy to other editors, it is a Wikipedia guideline to sign your posts on talk pages, user talk pages, and WikiProject pages. To do so, simply add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comments. Your user name or IP address (if you are not logged in) and the date will then be automatically added along with a timestamp when you save your comment. Signing your comments helps people to find out who said something and provides them with a link to your user/talk page (for further discussion). For further info, read Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines.
