Jonathan Bishop[edit]

I have been watching the Jonathan Bishop posts. I would urge you to check his claim of scholarly notability. I have used Harzing's Publish or Perish (free downloadable software) and searched on Bishop's name in two broad categories: Social Science, Humanities and the Arts; Computing, Engineering and Mathematics. I could found 4 scholarly references to one paper: "Increasing Participation in Online Communities". It was in a real journal: _Computers in Human Behavior_.

Mr Bishop used to make broader claims as to his notability in the Virtual Community page. When I questioned him on this, instead of responding with documentation, several attacks were launched on a person I know well who has a Wikipedia page.

User:Jonathanbishop: Wellman tells me that your statement is false: he has never put his name on students' work that he didn't co-author extensively. He urges you to contact his student co-authors for confirmation. Your statement is false and defamatory. It is so absurd, the Wellman says he will neither sue nor delete. January 2010[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Character theory (Media). Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
