Pursuant to Wikipedia:Fair use criteria, "Fair use images should be used only in the article namespace. Used outside article space, they are often enough not covered under the fair use doctrine. They should never be used on templates (including stub templates and navigation boxes) or on user pages." Would you please explain what Image:Hormel Foods logo.png, a fair use image, has to do with your user page?--Jusjih 01:14, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I never noticed it was fair use. I should have, but didn't, so I deleted it after recieving your message. Thanks for noticing that- I don't want to bring any potential lawsuit to Wikipedia. --CommKing 23:21, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are no communities on the island so the outline alone would be correct. By the way look at the history of the article since the picture got added. Fairly childish additions to it. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 20:11, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the Maps group[edit]

I saw your recent post on the Maps Talk Page. Welcome. We need more mapmakers and you've made a fine start.

I'm hoping it would be possible for you to use, as much as possible, the semi-official colours shown at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Maps. This helps present a consistent look to maps here in Wikipedia.

I see you are already using Inkscape. That's good (and free!). I've found it takes some getting used to, and sometimes my SVG images won't load correctly. For example, I'm still trying to figure out what's wrong with this map. I eventually decided to load it up as a PNG file.

Speaking of that, I'm wondering if you can do me a favor. Can you go out to Image:Ancient Greek Colonies of N Black Sea.png and look to see whether the colony on the west side of the Crimea is labelled "Kerkinitida" or "Kerkinitis"? It should say "Kerkinitis", but my browser shoss "Kerkinitida". I'm trying to determine whether it's my computer (cache) or not. I would very much appreciate it.

In any case, if I can help you in any way, give me a whistle. Happy mapping, MapMaster 04:06, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I´m beeing bold, and I´m directing you to Talk:Lamu_Islands. Without a map, (or intimate knowledge of the Lamu archipelago) it is not really easy to get an impression of the place. A map over the islands is therefore much wanted. Do you know somebody who feels like filling the gap? Regards Huldra 17:43, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and thank you for your note, I promise: if you get the map I will get around to (finally!) upload some of my pictures from Lamu.. (I am only here (on WP) now and then at the moment..sometimes weeks or months inbetween each visit) Anyway, looking forward to the map! Regards, Huldra 18:23, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again, thanks for the map, and sorry I took such time getting back to you! -Now, about maps; most books about the Lamu archipelago has a map (or two) over the islands; I happen to have two books with me now: Neville Chittick: Manda (maps on p. 4 & p. 5), and Martin and Martin: Quest for the Past (map on p. VII). As for your map: I will leave a comment on the discussion-page of the map.. (I have never edited a map, though) -and yes, I know a bit about the islands, those sailing-trips in dhows around the archipelago are unforgettable- ;-) Regards, Huldra 05:46, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I just noticed: Pate Island has gotten a map --which is roughly correct. I just miss Kizingitini, which is to the right of Faza. Huldra 13:42, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The file File:Lamu-map-draft.svg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Orphaned map.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~ Rob13Talk 17:34, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
