Thanks[edit]

I have noticed you had done an extensive amount of work on the Blood II: The Chosen article and I would like to thank you for it. I'm sure that with your valuable contributions the article will be assessed more appropriately than its current Low importance, Start class. The request has been already made (you can check it here) and it is only a matter of time before the decision is reached. If you have more information regarding the game (as well as its predecessor which you already enriched heavily) don't hesitate to add it. Very good work so far. Replaceable fair use Image:Katherine-Anna-Kang.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Katherine-Anna-Kang.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 17:29, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Got a twin brother?[edit]

Is User:Chargh your twin? He seems born on the same date, lives in the same place as you, works on almost the same software, and follows you around the wiki or the other way around. I'm confused. Pcap ping 20:22, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • He is indeed my twin brother, a good deduction. There is nothing wrong with us working together on Wikipedia is there? :-P Comrade Graham (talk) 20:24, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • Thanks for the clarification. It's probably a good idea to note that on your user pages. Since you guys !vote in AfDs one after the other, it might create the impression of WP:SOCKing otherwise. Spouses sharing an IP address usually mention the counterpart account on their user pages for the same reason. Pcap ping 14:08, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

TropicalWikis opened for business again[edit]

So after getting myself off my arse (sorry!) and getting a DB dump imported to our new host (a cool one!) TropicalWikis is Back In Action.

I'm sure you're asking about your wiki. I have it imported for some time now and have just brought one of the wikis online. That wiki has no images but I am glad to import your images, in order to save effort on your part.

If possible, please reply via email (Special:EmailUser/Frozen Wind). I am terribly sorry for the downtime and want to deliver your wiki backup to you. Let me know if you want more.

Re: TW[edit]

Hi Technopeasant. I have not been involved with TropicalWikis for at least 2 or 3 years now. I believe Frozen Wind was running it alone over the past few years and I am not aware of what he's doing or has done relating to it. If they have just shut down without telling anyone (which is what it looks like when I try to reach the website...), then I truly apologize and I find it appalling that they would do that. I'll go ahead and try to reach him and ask him why or if they are just moving - then I'll let you know what I find out. Again, I truly apologize if they have mishandled this. If you have any questions, feel free to reply and I will try to answer as soon as I can. Thank you. :) --Seahorseruler (Talk Page) (Contribs) (Report a Vandal) 04:26, 24 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning Template:Animation Industry in Japan[edit]

Hello, I have to ask. How is the new arrangement manageable? It looks like horrible. I prefer the old arrangement, it was more direct and easy to find which studio I wanted to click on in my opinion. SimonLagann (talk) 09:35, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@SimonLagann I agree it is less than ideal. The problem is I could not come up with a way of categorizing the subsidiaries by decade since they were founded at different points. I still feel the old system was getting untenable given the massive growth of the 2000s and especially the 2010s. I see on the American template they have segregated the "major" studios, but that can be hard to quantify. I am open to suggestions or even reverting if no consensus can be reached. 198.166.184.76 (talk) 13:54, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think that if you want to categorise everything in the template it should read as Active and then followed by the decade within the studio/production company was founded. I don't think separating companies by whether they are independent or a subsidiary is necessary. SimonLagann (talk) 14:42, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Technopeasant, I'm the author of the CatacombGL source port and I'm familiar with your work on the Catacomb wiki. I just want you to know that I'm currently working on extending/improving articles about the Catacomb games on the English wikipeda. I recently made an article on Catacomb Abyss. If you have suggestions for improvements, just let me know. Regards, A ansems (talk) 08:18, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay[edit]

Golden Bay Air are holding some seats for us until 21 November

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.

Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:26, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop editing Yahtzee Croshaw[edit]

Over the past few days, you have been editing Yahtzee Croshaw frequently. While I appreciate your desire to improve the page, you keep adding content from dubious sources more quickly than I can evaluate them for quality. Additionally, these edits [2] [3] [4], along with the fact that you did not follow the Use list-defined references template at the top of the article, give me the impression you don't really know what you're doing.

Much of the content you've added has come from sources that are either WP:UNRELIABLE, WP:USERGENERATED, WP:SELFPUBLISHED, or WP:PRIMARY sources, or which only passingly mention Croshaw or his works. These additions border on WP:FANCRUFT, something the article suffered from previously before I overhauled it to conform to a higher standard of quality.

Given that this is a biography of a living person, I'm going to politely but firmly ask that you refrain from editing the page for the time being while I properly evaluate the sources and information you've added. If you have a source you believe would be helpful, feel free to add it to the talk page using Template:Refideas. In general, try to ensure that any source you use is WP:RELIABLE, WP:SECONDARY, and WP:INDEPENDENT; for a guide on reliable sources pertaining to video games specifically, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Sources.

Thanks. — Toast for Teddy (talk) 02:23, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
