Fair use rationale for Image:InnerPartySystem logo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:InnerPartySystem logo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 14:48, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Logos are allowed to be uploaded- the reason I tagged the image is because it lacked a fair use rationale. However, for the most part, logos are not used for bands, and instead, a free image of the band themselves is used. Some photos from Flickr are allowed to be used- those licensed under CC-by-sa and CC-by can be used, but not those licensed under all rights reserved or one of the licenses that does not allow commercial use, modification, or both. If you have any questions about images that are and are not usable, feel free to contact me. J Milburn (talk) 14:51, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Don't bother putting the rationale in- I've removed the logo from the article as (unless there is sourced critical commentary of the logo in the article) we don't usually put band logos in- there are a good few editors (I'm one of them) who remove on sight. And no, cc-by-nc is not allowed, as that does not allow commercial use. Although Wikipedia itself is not commercial, we aim to have our content free to be used for commercial reasons. You could upload that picture- it's better than nothing! As a free image, it wouldn't need a rationale, you'd just need to say who took it, link to where you got it, and add the appropriate image copyright tag- in this case, {{cc-by-2.0}}. There's also a template to help adding the appropriate information. J Milburn (talk) 15:58, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies[edit]

My apologies for mistaking your edits as vandalism. Your edits have been duly restored. Vishnava talk 16:14, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No mistake whatsoever on your part - it was me; this has happened a little too frequently now, so I am going to stop for the time being and regroup. The anti-vandalism tool I am using is very powerful, so I must exercise more caution. Vishnava talk 16:27, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please continue to contribute - I apologize again for my mistake. Vishnava talk 16:29, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
One tip for you, although it does not justify my mistake: use edit summaries, so vandal fighters like me can know exactly what you've edited. Vishnava talk 16:30, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:InnerPartySystem logo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:InnerPartySystem logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:21, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
