August 2021[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Jauerback. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Brendan Dassey, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Jauerbackdude?/dude. 17:03, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, there was acyually a whole series of edits, which you reverted in one go. Much of it was just tidying a messy article that appeared as if duplicated by two people not working together. I also removed factually incorrect unsourced sentences that you've reinstated without a source. Can you help this mess by only reverting the specific sentences you feel need an additional source? (if they're not uncontroversial undisputed right? Not every sentence even on a bio has a source). Cryogenicity (talk) 17:22, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No, pretty much any statement, especially in a BLP needs to be sourced; controversial or not. So, if I restored an unsourced statement, feel free to remove it. I would suggest reading up on WP:BLP, WP:RS, and WP:OR. Any specific questions, you can either start a discussion on the article's talk page or try WP:BLPN. I don't personally have an interest in the article itself, so I'm not trying to stop you from making changes. Just make sure they're sourced. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 19:02, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No BLP specifies "material challenged or likely to be challenged". You haven't answered which specific sentences you were reverting as likely to be challenged. Cryogenicity (talk) 19:29, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's a contentious bio. If you'd like, I can remove every sentence that is not supported by a source and you can work your way from there. Would you prefer that method? Jauerbackdude?/dude. 00:59, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like you to stop taking content providers for granted and reinstate the tidying up I did preliminary to being able to sensibly improve the article factually, and if you won't clarify why the undisputed facts I corrected/added need a source I will ask at the talk page. Cryogenicity (talk) 09:29, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to restore it. Just make sure any statement you add has a source to back it up. It's not complicated. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 11:56, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How do I report you for misrepresenting that every single statement needs a source? And for deleting those edits which were just tidying up a messy article. Cryogenicity (talk) 13:35, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
