Date formatting consistency

Regarding this, I was actually referring to the consistency on Wikipedia in general, not just in this article. U.S.-formatted dates are generally written as [[January 1]], [[2000]], while UK-formatted dates are generally written as [[1 January]] [[2000]]. I'm well aware that dates are reformatted, to differing degrees depending on user date preferences. See for example WP:MOSDATE#Autoformatting and linking. I hope you don't mind me reverting your change. Have a nice day. --PEJL 16:53, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Your message

I am not sure what you are referring to. I think you are allowed to have two accounts as long as you don't use them abusively. However, I only use this account. Are you talking about my previous account? If so, my last edit from that account was back in April. --- Realest4Life 19:35, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

LOL, no, we work as a team on pages that interest us. We have each other added as friends on Yahoo Messenger so we just collaborate to improve pages. Spellcast helps sometimes too. We left the G-Unit WikiProject because it didn't work the way we thought it would so we made our own "MiniProject". We are not the same user though. That would mean we have like 4000 edits a month. --- Realest4Life 19:59, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:The Hunger for More (Special Edition).jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:The Hunger for More (Special Edition).jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:56, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Fair use disputed for Image:Carry On (Chris Cornell album).jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Carry On (Chris Cornell album).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:33, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Back to Black album cover

Hi! I just wanted to let you know I've just uploaded a new version of the album cover to Back to Black I found on Discogs.com because the one you previously uploaded didn't have a Parental Advisory stick on it. I hope you don't mind, but let me know if there's any problem, all right? Funk Junkie 22:41, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Great! By the way, I've just uploaded a new version to Frank's cover art too. There's no Parental Advisory stick on it as well. I hope you don't think I'm abusive. lol Funk Junkie 16:30, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Before you revert my the tags i just added, please try ask assistance. Thanks. BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 11:20, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
That's the point there. If you were not able to manage the photo, then an appropriate tag is necessary. Tags are used to alarm whoever user is involved. And i think what i did is just the same what BetacommandBot did. Thanks. BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 11:24, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
See, even the image Image:LaundryService.jpg is being tagged. It has to comply Wikipedia:Non-free content. BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 11:30, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
yes. I admit. it was mismanaged. But then the photo was deleted because it's redundant. the other photo then was untagged because the problem was solved. See my talk page, the disputed photo section and try to see the history [2]. Look what the edit summary says. Thanks. BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 11:37, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Ok, here it is. I was confused. I am still right by tagging your uploaded photos. The problem is i wasn't able to read the WP:NFCC#10c tag. But the problem is that bot tagged the other photos i uploaded even if the name used was correct. Pls see my talk page. Then go to the photos uploaded then see the history of the photo. BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 11:55, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Oh, really a disaster. My fault. I was in hurry and wasn't able to read the description. I just presumed that the template for fair use is not quite satisfying. I had already reverted my tagging. BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 07:17, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Image:OralFixation2.jpg

I am perfectly familiar with WP:NONFREE, thank you very much. I'm not sure what you think you're accomplishing with that template, but whatever it is, it isn't the correct one. Did you even read it? It's requesting an admin to delete older high-res versions of the image. There are no older high-res versions of the image; it's an inappropriate template. Why don't you say what you're trying to do so you can get some help to tag it correctly?

It may not do much harm, but it's not doing any good either. I do hope there's a bot taking care of these and you're not wasting admins' valuable time.

In fact, as I look over your uploads, I'm hard-pressed to guess what you think you're accomplishing. You're uploading new versions of images in many cases indistinguishable from the old ones. Take this one, for example. Do you really think it does any good to upload an image 23 pixels smaller in each direction? That's simply not meaningful. TCC (talk) (contribs) 02:42, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

That is a rule of thumb (it even says so) intended as a guideline for that particular template, not policy or an absolute standard, or even a standard that's universally observed. If an image is close to 300x300 anyway, there's no point at all in reducing it. And obviously, what constitutes "low resolution" is dependent on the resolution of the original. Yes, 300x300 is good in most cases, but there are other cases where that's not only suboptimal, but meaningless -- as with SVG, for example. TCC (talk) (contribs) 21:50, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
That's why I linked "rule of thumb" above; the article explains it. It's not a firm limit as if it were a law or a policy; it's only a general guide that applies most of the time, but not always, and often only approximately. The general rule is that non-free images should be no larger than they need to be, and for many purposes that's the same as the size at which they're displayed in the article. But there are also many instances where one legitimately might want to be able to enlarge it somewhat. And if there's no significant difference, it's not worth worrying about.
SVG images are vector-based. TCC (talk) (contribs) 01:11, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
