Very nice. Reminds me of my Boy Scout days, but that one I never saw. --ArmadilloFromHell 03:02, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Improperly tagged articles

Yes, you're right. I did about 10 of these, and reverted most of them, there are too many hidden categories, even in stub articles. I will have to find a more sophisticted approach, or leave it to people. Thanks for your diligence. Rich Farmbrough, 23:00 10 December 2006 (GMT).

Ashley Book of Knots

Thanks for removing the trivia section! Glad to see someone doing nice tidying work. Thanks! Kyle Barbour 19:40, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Aminopterin

Thanks for the "cleanup" on aminopterin. Man, I hate it when articles go {{tl|current}}... Best, Fvasconcellos 17:29, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm not impressed with your POV on the article. You must be American. Every Canadian media outlet has stated that aminopterin is not licensed for use in Canada or the US, but you seem to get one-sided coverage on your side of the border. The CBC has also indicated that the pet food in question was coming from a US plant owned by the Canadian company and that it's likely from a shipment of grain from China. --Walter Görlitz 15:19, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
No problem. When editing sections, I usually add {{Reflist}} to the bottom before I hit preview, so I can see whether or not the refs are gonna come out all right :) Fvasconcellos 21:47, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

images to commons

Hi, you have created some excellent photos of knots and cords and i wonder, why you don't contribute them to the commons? I am currently translating the paracord article into German, and therefore i need some images too. Of course i can add them by myself, but it would be much easier and less work, when you add them directly to the commons in the future. Please note, when you add an image to the commons, use proper description and categories (probably you aware of this, but sadly there are too many, which are too stupid or foul for that) --DustyDingo 13:07, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

RE:Very nice images, consider using Wikicommons

Hello, Dferd, Thanks for the message. I started to use Common now. I'm still not sure how to respond my messages, but I hope you'll get that one. Mbz1 00:28, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Mbz1

Hi Dred, I wish to merge the article Stopper knots to Stopper knot, could you please help me out regarding this matter? I will be in charge of merging the contents while the critical part, which is the deletion of Stopper knots, will be yours. Would this be possible. Thanks a lot.Bu b0y2007 02:31, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the merger/redirect on the stopper knot articles. The redirect was the right way to go, rather than deletion which was mentioned at one point. --Dfred (talk) 17:07, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
  • Thank you as well! Have a nice day ahead... Cheers! Bu b0y2007 01:41, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Regarding your photographs of knots

The Photographer's Barnstar
I've just been deleting images from Wikipedia which you've now uploaded to Wikimedia Commons and I'm very impressed by both the quality and the quantity of the photographs of knots you have taken. These are great contributions. It's also nice to see you introducing other users to Commons. Keep up the good work. Adambro 09:26, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks! I uploaded a bunch of images to EN wikipedia without being aware of the tedium involved in moving them later to the WMC. I've been trying to save others the hassle. --Dfred (talk) 17:17, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Marlinspike question

Could you please tell me where you got the marlinspike in this picture? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Marlinespike-hitch-ABOK-2030.jpg

Thanks! --Thorinmesser

Northern flicker

Yes I'm the same person you worked with in Seattle. Thanks for putting the flicker picture prominently in the article. hhm, sending messages with wiki pages is a new concept to me, i'm not sure i'm doing it correctly, oh well. --david.margrave

Error in nl:Wurgsteek diagram

Hi Dfred, after nearly three months I received your message. I think you might be right about bad diagram in the dutch nl:Wurgsteek article (Constrictor knot). See rest of my response in my discussion page. Cheers sawims. 82.92.24.154 22:15, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

I am not a specialist. Thus, your changes are welcome. Thierry Caro 15:29, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Wurgsteek

Hi, I came across your action on nl:wurgsteek. You placed the correct template, but for the wron reason. The interwiki should have pointed at nl:constrictorknoop, not at nl:wurgsteek. Technically a steek is not a knot... HTH, HAND. Kleuske 17:42, 22 July 2007 (UTC) (Kleuske from the dutch wikipedia)
