Welcome

Welcome!

Hello, Dillard421, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Please be careful when using automated tools. You identified an edit to Mormonism and Christianity as vandalism, which is a pretty strong charge. The changes looked like a good faith edit to me. They substituted the original Greek word in a few places, and changed mankind to humankind. Looking at your edit history, it seems you reverted a large number of changes in a very short time. Please remember that reverting should be limited to actual vandalism. If somebody makes an edit that you don't like, that is not justification for reverting it. Normally, you should react to their edit, making whatever changes you feel are necessary to correct the problem. -- wrp103 (Bill Pringle) (Talk) 03:02, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't accuse you of randomly reverted edits, and I'm sorry you took it that way. I said to be careful when using automated tools, and identified one specific edit that I thought wasn't vandalism. It is easy to mistake good-faith edits as vandalism or tests (I've done it myself a few times), so you certainly aren't the first. ;^) I'm not familiar with the tool that you were using, but hopefully it has an option other than vandalism for the edit summary of the revert.
As for "best thing ever", what I do is revert the edit and then add a npov warning on their talk page using one of the standard user warning templates. If you aren't sure about an edit, and/or you don't know enough to determine if the edit is valid, you can always add a {{fact}} after the edit. That way, either somebody will come up with a citation to justify the statement, or it will get reverted by somebody who knows more.
Don't get discouraged. You learn from your mistakes. That's why I know more than you ... I've made more mistakes. ;^)
I have your talk page on my watchlist, so you can reply under here if you have any more questions or commments. -- wrp103 (Bill Pringle) (Talk) 14:01, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome thanks for the advice. I thought you were like mad at me or something, but the more i read on your talk page, you were just having a bad day! :) I will definitely ask you if i have another question. About the tool i am using, its named Twinkle. I also use that in conjunction with the a java application, Vandal Fighter. :) Dillard421 23:48, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I was having a pretty good day. ;^) I am aware of Twinkle, but I haven't actually used it. I'm sure you will get the hang of all this fairly soon, and then you will be helping others. ;^)
The convention is to indent each conversation one more level by adding an additional colon at the front of each line. You can see how I changed your previous post to conform to this standard. -- wrp103 (Bill Pringle) (Talk) 03:17, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah I see, I was just using the Add comment function rather than just editing it, but I guess they are really the same thing :) thanks! Dillard421 05:46, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PROD

Dillard, I have seen you PROD empty articles and other articles that are new pages that should be speedily deleted. If you believe that an article is on an unredeemable topic, nonsense, or spam, you should just propose it for speedy deletion, not PROD it. Keep up the good work! :D Tdmg 06:29, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:SD is a great page to use to determine if something is appropriate for speedy deletion. Sadly, there are many articles created every minute that aren't appropriate for Wikipedia and we don't have the patience to track most PRODs for 5 days. Tdmg 06:38, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

expand tag

thanks for adding the help expand tag to traction in game radio :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Casemods (talkcontribs) 01:44, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

i dunno just wanted to say hi and im bored so wanna chat ?? Jamez21 11:42, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's not necessary to propose deletion of pages as a way of coping with vandalism--just ask any friendly admin for help, or post at WP:AIV. There are quite a lot of things we can do. DGG (talk) 00:54, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay thanks i had thought i had read that somewhere in the WP Prod page that was a reason for deletion. I also did prod because i wasnt really sure, but it knew it was really wrong LOL at some point it had been vandalized to say it was a furrie school...i didnt think about asking an admin x.x! i should have. thanks :)

I was just wondering why you welcomed that ip, cause both of there contributions were vandalism. Oysterguitarist 05:10, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was a vandalism welcome, Im trying to assume good faith in hopes that if you welcome a user, perhaps they will contribute. If they continue to vandalize, warning after next, they will get banned from editing. ✬Dillard421✬ (talkcontribs) 05:17, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That talk page

If appropriate or not is a conundrum, not the best of talk page decorations certainly, but Wikipedia is not censored for minors. Thanks for letting me know and thanks for the good work.--Sandahl 06:04, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your awesome work! :) ✬Dillard421✬ (talkcontribs) 06:27, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for helping me out...I enjoy reverting vandalism. This guy was persistent! Savie Kumara 07:06, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome, maybe he got blocked...who knows lol. I enjoy reverting vandalism too, lol the wikipdeia its like a hobby. hehe ✬Dillard421✬ (talkcontribs) 07:12, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
From the IP's contributions page, you should be able to click on the block log to see if he or she's finally blocked. It's helpful when you have been reverting vandalism so much that you've been reduced to refreshing the page history without noticing the vandal's been taken care of. :) --健次(derumi)talk 15:12, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!

Evil vandal

Thank you for acknowledging my situation with the evil vandal Bongwarriorsupportsdrugabuse and how he was messing with me. I couldn't take it anymore, and I was up until 1:30 in the morning crying and attempting to deal with it. I've noticed how you warned him. I appreciate it very much. Savie Kumara 04:46, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah i saw that, what a bastard. I dislike people like that..You seem like a really awesome person, hehe ill watch your back! ^_^ ✬Dillard421✬ (talkcontribs) 04:49, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
But look on the bright side, This user has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia.  :) ✬Dillard421✬ (talkcontribs) 04:52, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
