surreypolice

You have removed the link I made to http://www.surreypolice.co.uk and wonder why ?. Am I not allowed to post factual information,even if perhaps done in a different way ?. Is there a problem with posting the following;

Appeal Rejected ,seen content of website, it seems very opinionated! Djm1279 12:05, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

Corruption Scandals

Surrey Police have been at the centre of a number of scandals regarding their investigations of complaints by both members of the public and their own Officers. Indeed several adverse decisions have been made against them by the Police Complaints Authority and the newly formed IPCC. One complainant has even established his own website to voice

his concerns http://www.surreypolice.org

This is all factual and not at all libelous because it neither names specific persons, is true and it is not libelous against a public body anyway, OR are people only allowed to post "good" things and not "bad" or critical items ? Thanks

Station images

I notice that you have removed one of the pictures from the Borough tube station article (though it's the one I didn't take) and have lost the important caption of my picture of West Finchley. Care to restore them? - Londoneye 19:10, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

Note from user: Picture has now been restored, as previously set out Medscin 17:51, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

Infoboxes

Hi. Please copy this syntax, paste and adapt it in articles rather than drawing an individual box each time. Kind regards. Mrsteviec 15:36, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

In answer to your question:
Can you put that in laymans terms please sorry. Danny (Medscin)
To add a new infobox for a station, copy this text exactly as it appears now on the screen above and paste it into the new article. Then amend whatever needs changing such as the number of platforms etc. Hope that helps. Mrsteviec 16:41, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
Hi. Make sure to remove the year of opening if you don't know it (and update it if its in the text). You're adding that every LUL station was opened in 1884 at the moment. ;) Morwen - Talk 17:30, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
Also, please take care: stations such as New Cross are managed by train operating companies and not London Underground. Some stations are split into two but this is rare. Mrsteviec 17:45, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
Also, London Borough of Lewisham and Lewisham are not the same. Mrsteviec 17:48, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

Pictures

Those who charged with deleting pictures, please if possible don't send me messages, I have no idea which copyrights to use apart from the obvious. Thanks for keeping up the democratic process, but just immediately delete them. Medscin 18:10, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:NiagIllumination-winter.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:NiagIllumination-winter.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: TemplateName.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 20:45, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Blue peter gold badge.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. SoothingR 16:49, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi, aparently you uploaded the original version of this image. I don't suppose you could help figure out where it came from? --Sherool (talk) 14:48, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Anti-vandal tool question

Hi, and thanks for your email. Did you see User:Lupin/Anti-vandal tool? If you have any other specific questions, do get in touch. Lupin|talk|popups 14:53, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

This tool doesn't affect Special:Recentchanges. Instead, look in your toolbox on the left for some new links like "Filter recent changes" and so on. Lupin|talk|popups 15:17, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

Re : Content dispute

Hi Danny,

Apologies for my late reply. Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism is used for reporting presistent simple vandalism. POV-pushing, spam and content that is not very clear cut usually goes to either the admin noticeboard (WP:AN/I), or Wikipedia:Requet for Comments.

You can revert the user, but take care not to break the three revert rule, or get into a prolonged edit war. Hope that helped!

Infobox UK stations

No problem. Just copy the syntax I have used on Crewe railway station. Kind regards. Mrsteviec 06:39, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

Where did you get the passenger numbers? I'd like to add the infobox to Bletchley and Wolverton, since I have the dates for those too/two, but not the passenger data. --Concrete Cowboy 16:48, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
TYVM. --Concrete Cowboy 17:07, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

I wonder if "Platforms in use" should be changed to "Platforms regularly in use"? Each of the commuter stations from Wolverton to London has platforms serving the intercity tracks, but (except at Milton Keynes Central) they are never used outside of emergency. I'm sure the same is true for all the commuter lines into London. But you couldn't describe these platforms as "disused", such as can be seen at some of the big old stations. Take a look at Bletchley railway station to see what I mean. You probably have info on all major stations and can tell if this is a general issue or not generally important. --Concrete Cowboy 12:26, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

behave

Mind tellling me why should did you advise me to behave? I haven't done anything wrong, as far as I can tell. 62.57.2.79 16:02, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

Sunday services

Hi Danny. I noticed in this edit you've added an extra line to the services box, listing "Sunday services". This isn't really necessary; the service boxes are only there to provide a summary anyway, and are designed to show the next station served on the line, even if some trains run fast and do not stop at it. Keep up the other good work though! --RFBailey 17:33, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. I don't really know of any websites with that sort of information on them: most of my contributions on that sort of thing are sourced from inside my own memory.
Incidentally, as far as other users talk pages go, it's best not to meddle with them too much. As they're discussions/conversations rather than encyclopaedia articles, correcting "mistakes" isn't really important. As it happens, Mais oui! and Owain are both usernames, so even if they do look "wrong", it's not really up to us to pass judgement on how they're spelt! (Consider this advice, rather than a reprimand!)
One more thing: remember to sign comments (using --~~~~) you leave on talk pages, so the reader will know when the message was left there. --RFBailey 18:09, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
