SA Music articles[edit]

Hi. Well done on adding SA music articles. However they are at risk of being deleted if you can't show that they meet the notability criteria - see WP:NMUSIC. Also, biographies of living people need to have at least one reference - see WP:BLP. In fact all the articles you created need to have references from newspapers, books or other reliable sources. If you need help, post on Wikiproject SouthAfrica's talk page - there are a few SA Wikipedians who are interested in SA music. Look forward to working with you Gbawden (talk) 06:27, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A page you started (Frosted Orange (South African band)) has been reviewed![edit]

Thanks for creating Frosted Orange (South African band), Drackles!

Wikipedia editor Doomsdayer520 just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

Thanks for your new article on the band Frosted Orange, but note that a different editor believes that the band is not notable enough for Wikipedia and should be deleted. Go to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Frosted Orange (South African band) if you would like to argue otherwise.

An article you recently created, Black Cat Bones (South African band), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Ways to improve The Blues Broers[edit]

Hi, I'm SkyGazer 512. Drackles, thanks for creating The Blues Broers!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Adding some more reliable, secondary sources would be great to show that the article meets our notability guidelines for bands; otherwise this article may be deleted.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

SkyGazer 512 Oh no, what did I do this time? 01:11, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As you are presumably aware, it is very difficult to find reliable South African sources online, particularly for the music scene. The South African Music Awards, for example, does not maintain an online archive of previous winners and nominees (and yes, I have emailed them about it). This is why Wikipedia is so heavily biased towards content about well-resourced countries. I will add suitable references when I can find them, but my spare time is very limited, so it will probably take weeks, if not months. Of course, as you are knowledgeable about the South African music scene, you are welcome to add resources that you have access to. Drackles (talk) 19:03, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Drackles. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Black Cat Bones".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Legacypac (talk) 21:04, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Band 'O Gypsys requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. ULPS (talk) 17:23, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
