Eurovision Song Contest 2019[edit]

ASK before undo my article change. There is NO official report by ert but its official... I dont know if you dont know anything about it but I am Halkman8 (talk)

No official report = not official. ERT must make a statement as it is them who are responsible for choosing the participant. LexPro4 (talk) 22:09, 14 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

Wikipedia doesn't work this way. Please stop hiding the truth, Romania is in full scandal! If you dislike something is cited, use the talk page. Feel free if you like to re-write it more objectively. Martacastro14 (talk) 12:54, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Martacastro14: I am not 'hiding the truth'. Your addition to the article was biased in favour of Laura Bretan, opinionated and emotional (e.g. "What was really unexpected was that"), and relied on speculation rather than sources. In addition, you targeted and singled out the Wiwibloggs staff on the basis of their sexual orientations. I am not a writer and the burden is not on me to fix your mistakes. LexPro4 (talk) 18:44, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Please rewrite it then, according to the rules of Wikipedia. But don't hide the truth. I just mentioned they are LGBT. Romania is reclaiming the LGBT policy! Why do you hide the truth? Martacastro14 (talk) 12:41, 5 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@JescFAN32500000: hello, but please bear in mind that Wikipedia is not a social network. dummelaksen (talk) 01:11, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Why was my content were largely removed with regard to West Coast Star Island?[edit]

Could you please elaborate your rationale behind the editing? That was a significant amount of removal of my contribution which costed me a lot of time. I am not feeling comfortable that you didn’t even ask me for such significant modification of my contribution. Moskovescasc (talk) 21:10, 11 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Moskovescasc: My apologies, I should have discussed this on the talk page. I removed the information as it was unrelated to the event, and would be more suitable for an article on Qingdao or West Coast Star Island itself, such as the statement that it hosted the Shanghai Film Festival – nothing to do with the ABU Song Contest. In addition, much of the information was speculative and potential, such as the information on the two theatres which the article even stated was speculation. Moskovescasc (talk) 21:53, 11 May 2019 (UTC)LexPro4[reply]

I accept your apology and I think there could be a far better way to mediate the content improvements by having a coordinated reviews together before any significant editing. About West Coast Star Island, I am a native Chinese speaker and I researched a good amount of sources with regard to that location. I agree partly that the content could be improved better in terms of the focus. But I fear a complete removal would still be unjustified. I would be happy to rewrite it. I tried to follow the same content structure of Location content of Eurovision 2019. You could have a read. SCO Film Festival was mentioned because the same venue which hosted that festival is very likely to host the contest because of Qingdao’s government news report. If you are happy, please feel me to propose a content framework for this section and I would be happy to improve the older version based on your proposed framework. I have a lot of Chinese language sources which could provide evidences that my contribution were not mainly speculative.

@Moskovescasc: thank you for your effort to improve and expand the page.
I think instead of saying "There are two theatres located next to each other on the island [...] It is speculated that these theatres would be used as the main venues", we could say "The contest will take place at West Coast Star Island, an island with many facilities such as two theatres [...] and also hosted the SCO Film Festival in 2018" or something similar. That way, the topic of the sentence is the fact that West Coast Star Island is the host venue. Readers will still get information without violating WP:CRYSTAL. Hi! I wanted to inform you that adding rowspans to tables that can be sorted is wrong since, if you sort the table by for example the songs' titles, then the rowspans disappear and to get it back, you have to refresh the page. This is very odds. See also List of certified albums in Romania as an example for lists not using rowspans. Many thanks; Cartoon network freak (talk) 12:10, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"hosts" versus "will host"[edit]

"This will be the fifth time that the Netherlands hosts the contest" is incorrect grammar. That's why I changed it, since the event hasn't happened yet. "Hosts" being a present tense form of the verb ("Bill Smith hosts a party"), we're after the future tense. BigHaz - Schreit mich an 11:50, 21 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@BigHaz: I am aware that the contest is in the future. It's perfectly corect, as the sentence refers to the fact that when the event *happens* it *will* be the fifth time. No native English speaker would say "when the event will happen" or "when the Netherlands will host", a native speaker would use the present tense despite it referring to a future event. dummelaksen (talk) 12:03, 21 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As an English speaker myself, I can tell you that your statement in that second sentence is false. That said, there's clearly no point in reverting each other's edits back and forth. If the grammar matters that much to you, I'll leave it alone, mistaken though it is. BigHaz - Schreit mich an 23:54, 21 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Categorisation[edit]

Hello. Can I gently remind you that you should never leave a category without categories (as you did here) and conversely you should never leave a page in a red-linked category as you did here - per WP:REDNOT the rules are different for categories vs articles, either create the category or don't add the link. Cheers. Le Deluge (talk) 18:36, 17 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know, I wasn't aware. dummelaksen (talk) 19:03, 17 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
