Hi, E-hadj. I recognize the possibility that we both independently arrived at the same convoluted way of formatting userboxes, but if I'm correct in my guess that such is not the case, you might want to check my user page; after doing some more searching and reading, I found a better and more flexible way to get the same results. Busted. I stole those boxes and related wiki markup shamelessly, from you. Thanks! I've looked at the wiki markup from your current userpage, it is cleaner and also it horizontally centers the UBX block on the page. which is nice But, I can't get it to work fully. The problem is the autodidact box, which is taller than the others, and this tallness apparently messes up alignment of the row of boxes below it. In my existing markup, I fixed that problem with an extra clear tag, but that isn't working with the new markup. I could probably re-order the boxes, but, I don't want to. A further complication is that, theoretically, in the world of CSS, tables are supposed to be for tabular data, they are no longer supposed to be used to solve layout problems. It messes up the XHML semantics. One is supposed to use styled div tags instead of tables. But, WP seems to prefer tables. So I'll experiment some more with your new, simplified markup, I'm sure I'll get it working in the end. --E-hadj (talk) 19:53, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I don't understand the preoccupation with using tables for everything, unless it's for the vast number of users like me, whose HTML skills would be generously described as marginal at best. I strongly implied that the current code wasn't original with me; I should have mentioned it came from Wikipedia:Userboxes#Using tables, which may have other ideas to help you out if you haven't checked that page yet.
