Welcome![edit]

Hello, TOURING101, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! You removed a large amount of sourced content and I did not understand why you did so. Much of the content you added was promotional. See wp:NOTPROMOTIONAL. So, I undid your edits. Adakiko (talk) 11:01, 25 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding this image: commons:File:Emma_Catherine_Rigby.jpg. You credited Jonathan Faulkner Photography. Did you take the photo? Adakiko (talk) 11:34, 25 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Editing / removing others talk addition[edit]

Avoid removing other's talk as you did on Talk:Emma Rigby. See wp:Talk dos and don'ts, WP:TPO, and in general, wp:Talk page guidelines. If someone has replied to your talk, your talk should not be removed. You can strike your talk out using <s>strike out</s> which generates: strike out Thank you Adakiko (talk) 20:04, 25 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am just a big fan of her. I apologise, I did not mean to remove someone else's talk again, I was trying to copy and paste my messages to you. I will request AllMovie and Rotten Tomatoes to conduct the change :)

I understand after that, request the changes here, are you able to send me a template of all of my revisions I made prior to you making the page reverted back to current state? I spent a few hours on it, would appreciate it and will make it neutral, ie your example of not putting things like "high and mighty... majesty..."

Thanks

Hi dot331,

It is very easy to obtain a professional photo of anyone, just wanted to update her photo that is a low res photo from 2011 and also update her entire page as a big fan! Thank you

ECRERA26 (talk) 10:48, 26 June 2021 (UTC)ECRERA26[reply]

Professional photos may be easy to obtain, but they are not easy to use on Wikipedia, due to copyright/legal issues. Are you in communication with her representatives about the licensing of the photo? 331dot (talk) 10:51, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I found a photo done in 2021 of her, I simply asked that photographer for consent/permission to use on Wikipedia, because he wants his work publicly, especially on something so popular like wikipedia, he reverted back quickly in wanting to do this, again, her photo is a low res 2011 photo and as a fan I think it could use a major update, thanks.

Please place new comments below the comment that you are replying to, so the discussion makes sense to others. If you are using a phone to edit Wikipedia, you may find this easier if you switch to the full desktop version instead of the mobile version in a browser. The mobile versions and app do not have full functionality(and make it harder to edit talk pages as they are geared towards reading, not editing). 331dot (talk) 10:56, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Communicating with her photographer is indeed a conflict of interest, and you will need to formally disclose that. 331dot (talk) 10:57, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please read wp:edit request - they are for use on article talk pages such as talk:Emma Rigby. Please don't leave them here as they are confusion and waste others' time. Your edits are in the wp:page history: here. Please do not replace that photo of Rigby until you get permission from the copyright owner. Wikimedia takes copyright very seriously. Posting that photo as your own work should be avoided. Given the circumstances, I requested that photo be deleted. See wp:copyright violations. Adakiko (talk) 10:54, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Do not remove other's talk[edit]

You removed someone else's talk on talk:Emma Rigby again. STOP THAT! This is your also third edit request on that page. Your multiple edit request and help requests could constitute wp:canvassing. Either or both could result in a wp:block.
I would suggest you get Ridby's article changed to Emma Catherine Rigby by changing her name on AllMovie, Rotten Tomatoes, and other wp:RS first. Then, when it's obviously that and wp:COMMONNAME applies, then make your edit request. 'Wikipedia content is not set by what the subject of articles want. I'm sure many want their biography / name to be special. Maybe His Royal Majesty, the High And Mighty Adakiko? That sounds good! Many people would like - and try to get their biographies whitewashed and/or turned into a hagiography. Wikipedia goes by what wp:RS state, not by what the subject of an article wants. BTW: I have no idea if this is what Rigby wants. Adakiko (talk) 10:22, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I do not represent, work for, promoted by, paid for, or are Emma Catherine Rigby, or any business or person affiliated, or not. May I please ask if we can revert back to my latest edit, and work with you on making minor edits to make them neutral and not objective? Or if you could kindly send me the very last edit in template form? I unfortunately do not have a copy since the page has been reverted back to its original form, and spent a few hours editing, I apologise for the miscommunication. My edits were meant to be grammatical, streamlining, and decluttering.

The reason for all the edits and main photo update (last photo was from 2011, new one was 2021), was to update her career progression, her page name/career name/legal name is Emma Catherine Rigby, and also I removed anything that was slightly incorrect or not factual. I am very happy to remove bits that looked to objective.

Regarding the image commons:File:Emma_Catherine_Rigby.jpg, as requested by Wikipedia, Jonathan will send his consent to release the photo to the Wikipedia photo consent email, he took the photo, and is more than happy to release the consent permission template. I was hoping the photo could stay up for another 96 hours before being removed, but I understand you reverted the page back to its original format. I would greatly appreciate your page edit and page move assistance!

Thank you, Wikipedia is the very first thing that shows up on Google in 2021, just needs an update, thank you and apologies again.

ECRERA26 (talk) 10:11, 26 June 2021 (UTC)ECRERA26[reply]

What is your interest in Emma Rigby? That is the only topic you have edited about. The fact that you have access to a professional photo of Emma Rigby and seem to be in communication with its owner would suggest that you at least have a conflict of interest; edits are typically made here without involvement or communication with the subject(or their representatives). Wikipedia summarizes what independent reliable sources state. If that sourced content is incorrect, but Wikipedia summarizes it accurately, you will need to take that up with the sources, or offer your own independent reliable sources with updated information. 331dot (talk) 10:28, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Edit requests are only for article talk pages, so I removed it from this page. 331dot (talk) 10:31, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

{{request edit}}

Hi ADAKIKO,

Jonathan Faulkner just submitted his copyright details for the File:Emma_Catherine_Rigby.jpg permission, can someone please have this photo not sent for deletion so I can use it? It seems I only had 2-3 days until someone very quickly sent it for deletion.

Can you revert the page back to what I spent hours on doing? Please do this and within 24 hours I can assure you I'll remove any subjective terms. She has won an award, and is a model, celebrity, etc.

I am not endorsed, sponsored, working for, or paid for by Emma Rigby.

I have been a fan for 17 years and her page is outdated by 10 years, I merely updated her page to 2021 and what she's now known for.

Thanks, I hope we can compromise as I don't have a draft of what I spent 3-4 hours doing.

I apologise, I just was given notification of your big messages below, thank you for your time and patience.

Hi,

I have no conflict of interest (COI) with Emma Rigby. I am not involved in multiple interests, financial or otherwise, and I am not serving one interest or involved working with or against another. I, an individual, not an organization, am not adversely affected to perform a duty, or owed to make decisions for the benefit of a third party. I do not have an "interest" of commitment, obligation, duty or goal associated with a particular social role or practice to Emma Rigby. Just a passer byer who enjoys her films, thank you.

How do I get your approval to shift her page to Emma Catherine Rigby please? Thank you.

Touring101 (talk) 19:55, 28 June 2021 (UTC)TOURING101[reply]

You are trying very hard to emphasize that you have no conflict of interest almost to the point where it is having the opposite effect. However, assuming good faith I will believe you. It's not my approval you need. You should not move a page without a consensus to do so, which you must establish with a discussion on the article talk page. Wikipedia policy, as I've said, states that the most commonly used name of a topic is the title. See WP:COMMONNAME. For example, Bill Clinton, not William Jefferson Clinton(his legal name) or William Jefferson Blythe(his legal name at birth). You will need to show that the majority of reliable sources use her full legal name to refer to her. IMDB and other user-editable websites are not considered reliable sources. It's not enough for you to guess that it's what she wants- and even if is, the policy remains and she would first need to demand that reliable sources use it first. 331dot (talk) 20:22, 28 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict)
As mentioned on talk:Emma Rigby multiple times, you need to get wp:CONSENSUS first. As Rigby's wp:COMMONNAME would appear to be Emma Rigby, you are unlikely to achieve consensus. 331dot nor anyone else is the "keeper of article titles". You don't need permission, you need consensus.
Please read and follow WP:TALKREPLY and indent your talk so that others can follow it. I was going to reformat and indent your talk above, but 331dot replied before I posted this. Place your signature "~~~~" immediately following a space after your talk so it doesn't appear to be an orphaned signature. In your edit to Commons:Deletion requests/File:Emma Catherine Rigby.jpg, you placed your talk above the section header which disrupted the format of the request. It should have gone under the request. I am getting annoyed with having to reformat your talk. Please format it correctly per WP:TALKREPLY, etc. I reformatted your comment on the deletion request and mentioned that your username was changed as well. My request probably could use a bit more reformatting.
That photo which appears to not have permission of the author/copyright holder Jonathan Faulkner Photography, I see you have replaced it after my previous message to you. The release you say you have requested has not shown up on her photo page: Commons:File:Emma Catherine Rigby.jpg. It is still therefore lacking a license and should not be used in an article.
Per 331dot's message above Communicating with her photographer is indeed a conflict of interest, and you will need to formally disclose that. Please follow the recommended procedures in WP:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI @331dot: Pinging 331dot. Adakiko (talk) 20:31, 28 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, communicating with her photographer is a conflict of interest. Even if you have no other interest here, that counts and you must disclose. 331dot (talk) 20:39, 28 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't deny a COI in an wp:Edit summary (ES) such as this one on Emma Rigby. That's not the purpose of an ES. It's unnecessary, makes one question if you do have a COI, and its size makes it difficult to follow the wp:page history. COI info should go on your user page: user:Touring101 which is currently not "created". Thank you Adakiko (talk) 20:49, 28 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello all, I apologise for my unintentional mistakes, thank you. Touring101 (talk) 21:33, 28 June 2021 (UTC)touringv12[reply]

Touring101: This comment makes no sense. Who are you talking to? Why are you talking about an "A 10" at in that section? Does the comment belong ant the bottom of the next section?
That "A 10" needs to wp:cite a wp:RS. The citation needs to be added with the content. Not afterwards.
Please use a wp:footnote and avoid adding a url link as you did with CAFOD. Someone undid your edit.
Regarding signing your name, use four tildes the nowiki was to show them without being compiled into my signature. Cheers Adakiko (talk) 23:47, 28 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also, after the four tildes, there is no need to add "touringv12" or such. The four tildes is compiled with your username. Adakiko (talk) 23:51, 28 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Permissions email received[edit]

A note was added to the file commons:File:Emma Catherine Rigby.jpg that an email was received regarding image use permission. However, the information in the email was not sufficient to verify that it was the copyright holder. See commons:File:Emma Catherine Rigby.jpg#Summary to read this message. A note was also added to Commons:Deletion requests/File:Emma Catherine Rigby.jpg. Followup is needed by the copyright holder. Getting there!

You might consider enabling emails. I would have sent you one about this. Preferences -> User profile / Email options. Having email enabled is useful if you loose your password or your account is hacked. Cheers Adakiko (talk) 09:21, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Just noting that you can add an email for account recovery purposes without enabling others to email you. 331dot (talk) 13:26, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Permissions accepted![edit]

Your uploaded photo now has a valid permission! Good work! Commons:Commons:Deletion requests/File:Emma Catherine Rigby.jpg commons:File:Emma Catherine Rigby.jpg An admin will presumably close the deletion request. Cheers Adakiko (talk) 18:53, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
