Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Dirk Palmer Bach requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. A tag has been placed on Dirk Palmer Bach requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://dirkbach.com/about-dirk.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Copyright and notability[edit]

I have deleted your submission. Wikipedia cannot hold copyright material, not even in sandboxes or AfC submission pages, not even temporarily. Please read Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources.

Even if the copyright issue were resolved, copying material from the subject's website is unlikely to make an acceptable encyclopedia article. See User:JohnCD/Not a noticeboard for some background.

Article subjects need to have notability, which is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject," see also WP:ARTIST and WP:Notability (summary).

There is good advice on how to write an acceptable article at WP:Your first article. Here are some other pages that you might find helpful:

The reason your article was deleted, as explained above, was copyright. It was copied from the artist's page, which is marked "© 2015 by Dirk Bach", but even without the copyright notice, Wikipedia cannot accept copied material without a formal copyright release. That is because publication here releases it under the CC-BY-SA license, which allows any reader to copy, modify and re-use for any purpose including commercial, and it is essential that the actual copyright owner understands and agrees to that.

How to make a formal copyright release is described at WP:Donating copyrighted materials, and you will need to do that if you want to copy (or closely paraphrase) any of the material from the website; but this is generally not a good idea, because an encyclopedia article is a quite different thing from an artist's own website, and should generally be based on what other people say about the subject, not what he says about himself. User:JohnCD/Not a noticeboard gives some background for this.

Since you are professionally associated with Bach you have, from Wikipedia's point of view, a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, and should read that page and the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. In brief, you should not edit or post articles directly about subjects where you have a COI, but may make suggestions on talk pages or submit drafts. Note also that you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use ("Paid contributions without disclosure" under section 4) to disclose your interest in any edits where you have a COI.

To start a draft article, click on Help:Userspace draft and fill in the title. That will make a draft page where you can work, with a link to submit it, when it is ready, to WP:Articles for creation, where an experienced user will review it and either accept it or give you feedback.

Check out, again, the advice and links about notability in the message above.
