Your message[edit]

You left a message on the talk page for this IP about Norlington School for boys, my ISP dynamically assigns IP addresses so it's doubtful the original recipient got the message. 90.202.189.155 (talk) 17:44, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Would like to credit your photos.[edit]

Hi Edward,

I'm currently working on a website for Backwell Parish Council and would like to use your photos. I understand that I am free to do so, but would like to credit you.

Where would you like the link too, or what would you like mentioned?

Thanks,

Chris. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.177.218.22 (talk) 17:33, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

advice on adding station photo[edit]

I've got a pic of Kiveton Bridge that I would like to upload, but I've been put off even investigating how to do it by the complexity of the licencing. The pic is here [1] Some advice would be greatly appreciated. Talltim (talk) 22:07, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done, thanks. Talltim (talk) 13:59, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

More station photos[edit]

Hi Edward, last week I visited no less than 50 stations, including Anerley, Bexleyheath, Haydons Road, Kidbrooke and Wimbledon Chase, which hitherto had no pictures (or had no pictures when we first got in touch). I will upload these over the coming week. best, Sunil060902 (talk) 11:15, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I visited Southbury, Enfield Chase, Bush Hill Park and Brimsdown today, photos will be uploaded in due course - total LUL/DLR/NR station count within Zones 1-6: 462. best, Sunil060902 (talk) 17:01, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Edward, I visited another 50 stations the week of the 17th November, and another three yesterday (including South Greenford), leaving only 51 heavy rail stations within the London Travelcard area for me to visit (running total - which may not be 100% accurate - is currently 522 stations including DLR and a few Tramstops!). In the process of uploading them! best, Sunil060902 (talk) 12:48, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Edward - I have now visited every station on the Underground, DLR and National Rail inside the Zone 6 Travelcard boundary within the last 12 months or so. Just Denmark Hill left to upload and I will do that tonight! best, Sunil060902 (talk) 13:20, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I have taken the liberty of replacing other people's pics with my own in some station articles, where appropriate. Hope that's OK. best, Sunil060902 (talk) 13:25, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well since I only really got going in July (when my station tally was only 160 or so), I still have 27 Tramlink stops to photograph, plus a limited number of stations I need to re-visit (eg. poor weather, sunsets, entrances missed, etc. first time round). Unfortunately in a few days, I leave for India for a couple of weeks, and next month I'm in New Mexico for a bit, and then Switzerland in March, so I will have to wait a while before I can say I've been everywhere within Zones 1-6. Also I'm in two minds whether I should cross over into Zones 7 to 9, since they are not concentric around London, and don't even include Watford Junction, the Overground terminus. I will probably visit those stations eventually. Still, would be nice to see what I can photograph on my travels these coming months (definitely need a bigger memory card!). best, Sunil060902 (talk) 20:06, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Edward, just got back from trips to India and the US over the last month. Thanks very much for the Barnstar! I didn't have time to upload a few station entrances I took pictures of the week of 19th January, but the interiors of those stations were already uploaded. Anyway, for various reasons I didn't get to ride on any trains in India's vast network, but a conference trip to New Mexico just this last week enabled me to ride the new Rail Runner service between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, so I should be able to upload the pics real soon! best, Sunil060902 (talk) 15:52, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Edward, Further to my message on January 19th, I can report that I have indeed finished off all Tramlink stops and visited Underground and Overground stations in Zones 7 to 9, as well as Watford Junction. I have also visited the other 35 mainline stations encompassed by the M25 motorway. best, Sunil060902 (talk) 13:06, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well done![edit]

Station photo list[edit]

Hi Edward; thanks for compiling that list and sending me the link. I've gone through it quickly and can provide pix of the following from my collection (all will be PD licenced):

 • Blundellsands & Crosby

 • Maxwell Park
 • Newcraighall
 • Pollokshields East
 • Queen's Park
 • Rutherglen
 • Shawlands
 • St Helens Central (since rebuilding)
 • Sydenham Hill

I've watchlisted the page for future reference. I'll upload these as soon as I can; possibly tonight. Hassocks5489 (tickets please!) 19:41, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

December 2008[edit]

One of your recent edits, the one you made to Racing shell, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. Thank you. It looks as though you may have been using a bot without checking your edits.

Sorry about that, it won't happen again. Edward (talk) 21:36, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A similar thing just happened on transformer--not a mistake that should have been spotted by anyone, but certainly a mistake someone who knew the subject matter would not have made. I suggest confining your edits to topics you know well. Ccrrccrr (talk) 00:06, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another that looks off base to me: Dec. 9 edit of David_Anderson_(American_football). I didn't revert because I'm not an expert, but the article linked, tender offer didn't help me understand the way it was used in David_Anderson_(American_football), so I assume it's another mistake.
I also wonder about the value of adding links to articles that are noted as being poor quality. Is the idea that if people see bad articles they will help fix them?Ccrrccrr (talk) 00:17, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Squirrels drying mushrooms[edit]

I would be interested to know where you heard about British (or European) red squirrels collecting mushrooms and drying them in trees. I've not heard of this behaviour, but they are very resourceful creatures! Dbfirs 16:44, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for checking. I thought that the photo looked like an American red, but I wasn't 100% sure. I watch English reds every day, and they are very inquisitive, so it wouldn't surprise me if they occasionally eat mushrooms. I've noticed that their sense of smell seems more important to them than sight, so if the mushroom smells nutty, then they will probably eat it! Dbfirs 22:13, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

14" HDD?[edit]

Not sure if there is/is not a 14" HDD, but if there is, a citation (maybe a picture even) is highly recommended, or it may be removed (Tom94022 deleted that entry, BTW). Ginbot86 (talk) 21:51, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of 2p[edit]

A tag has been placed on 2p requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. JaGatalk 21:49, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of 2009 Little Haywood plane crash[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article 2009 Little Haywood plane crash, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Wikipedia is not the news (WP:NOTNEWS)

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Mr. Vernon (talk) 07:46, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A big difference is that in the other crash, two well-known people (notable enough to have their own Wikipedia articles) died. That isn't the case with this crash. If someone famous died, I wouldn't prod it. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 08:02, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of 2007 Dean Farrar Street collapse[edit]

I have nominated 2007 Dean Farrar Street collapse, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2007 Dean Farrar Street collapse. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Replacement of FGTH article picture[edit]

Hi there - the replacement (free) photo that you added to this article is not an acceptable quality replacement IMO - principally, it doesn't show the whole band, and it shows several people (particularly the bloke front-and-centre in the white shirt) who are not part of the band. I'm therefore inclined to reinstate the original (non-free) fair-use image until a suitable free one becomes available. I'm not against sourcing free images per se, but this particular image has only the merit that it is free... otherwise, it's a pretty poor picture. But I thought I would post a message here first, to see if you had any strong feelings on reverting this change. Let me know if so! :) --DaveG12345 (talk) 13:57, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers - I undid the changes - yeah, the free image could maybe be worked into the article somehow - would prob be easier if the year of the pic was known. --DaveG12345 (talk) 16:06, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Photo additions[edit]

You're fast... I'd uploaded the image of Kevin Eastman and Steve Barron to Commons, then was going to upload cropped versions of both people from the original photo. Continued botched bot links[edit]

Indiscriminate linking of phrases is not helpful to Wikipedia. The log shows you are making as many as five links in a minute. That's not enough time to read the article and understand the context to figure out whether the link is helpful. If a phrase is linked to an article about a different meaning of the phrase, that adds confusion rather than being helpful. I have made not attempted to find the extent of the damage done, but a review of the linking activity for "production quota" reveals about half a dozen in which the type of production quota meant by the linked phrase is not the type discussed in the article. I suggest that you revert all of these and resume only if you are willing to take the time to ensure you are making a positive contribution.Ccrrccrr (talk) 00:20, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Another way to fix the botched production quota links would be to expand the article to cover more uses of the term. But I'd also like to see you commit to a real change in mode of operation to ensure that this doesn't continue to happen. Ccrrccrr (talk) 00:46, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

East Africa[edit]

Hi, do you know why there is an East Africa Protectorate article and a British East Africa article? I notice that you have recently edited both pages so you seem to be a go-to guy (I've also asked Rjensen the same question). Seems to me they should be combined into one, unless I'm missing something? Although the British East Africa page has more text, the East Africa Protectorate page seems to have better links back to Imperial British East Africa Company and forward to Kenya Colony and Kenya via the little flags in the infobox. Overlinking in introductions?[edit]

Dear Edward, please consider links in introductions carefully. See, e.g., my comment at Talk:Income_tax_in_the_United_States#Overlinking_in_introduction. Introductions to articles, particularly technical articles such as those on tax, may be particularly rich in titles of other articles. Consider one of the articles recently changed with your bot, Alternative Minimum Tax. The change today added two links to the first paragraph of the introduction, both directly relevant to the article and mentioned further within the article. The first paragraph of the introduction contains seven additional potential links, which in my opinion are equally valid under WP guidelines. With the three present links, that would be 10 links in 134 words, a bit extreme. As you have more experience dealing with WP readers' needs and preferences, I would be happy to hear your thoughts. Biased editing of Technological Utopianism by Loremaster.[edit]

Due to your past contribution to Technological utopianism, you may currently want to help editing the Technological utopianism article because currently only one editor is contributing to the article. The Singularitarianism Article could also benefit from your help.

I feel Loremaster is editing Singularitarianism and Technological utopianism in a biased manner in accordance with his Save The Earth propaganda. Loremasters's ideology seems to verge towards Neo-Luddism. Here are the damming facts Loremaster has stated in discussion:

Loremaster says he is:

"...critical of techno-utopianism in all its forms."

Loremaster wants people to:

"...stop indulging in techno-utopian fantasies... ...so that we can all focus on energies on saving the planet."

Loremaster sees his editing as a 'fight' and he states:

"Although I am convinced that the world is in fact heading toward an ecological catastrophe, I think it can be averted and my optimism makes me want to fight to do do just that."

81.151.135.248 (talk) 11:49, 18 December 2010 (UTC)JB[reply]

 1. LOL
 2. Despite the fact that I openly admit to being a technorealist who is critical of techno-utopianism in all its forms, I have let never this point of view influence any of my edits or reverts of the Technological utopianism or Singularitarianism articles. On the contrary, I am the person most responsible for expanding the former article with content some would argue is “pro-techno-utopian” (i.e. passages from James Hughes' book Citizen Cyborg).
 3. I find it disgusting that 81.151.135.248 would take comments I made out of context to falsely make it seem I see my editing of any article as part of my fight for the environment.
 4. In light of this outrageous act of bad faith, I will do everything in my power to get this jerk banned from Wikipedia.

File permission problem with File:Copenhagen underground station.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Copenhagen underground station.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

 • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
 • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add OTRS pending to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 23:39, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Campus Ambassador needed[edit]

Hi! My name is Annie Lin - I'm the Campus Team Coordinator at the Wikimedia Foundation. I'm contacting you because you're listed as a resident of San Francisco, and we're currently looking for a friendly Wikipedian to teach students in a University of San Francisco class how to use/edit Wikipedia. This is a role titled the "Wikipedia Campus Ambassador," and you'll basically be doing in-class presentations about Wikipedia, running Wikipedia labs/workshops, and in general providing face-to-face Wikipedia help for the professor and the students in the class. The time commitment is about 3-5 hours a week (with variations throughout the semester), and for this particular University of San Francisco class, most of the workload will be between March and May.

Please let me know if you're interested!

Continued botched bot links[edit]

In July 2009 you received the following messsage from User:Ccrrccrr:

"Indiscriminate linking of phrases is not helpful to Wikipedia. The log shows you are making as many as five links in a minute. That's not enough time to read the article and understand the context to figure out whether the link is helpful. If a phrase is linked to an article about a different meaning of the phrase, that adds confusion rather than being helpful....I suggest that you revert all of these and resume only if you are willing to take the time to ensure you are making a positive contribution."

However, you are still making as many as six links per minute. In fact, you've made 500 edits in the last 16 or 17 days, almost all of them bot links. Frankly, this wastes a lot of other people's time -- either when they have to check to find that your link is not valid and revert it (as with your linking Citizenship in the United States to bundle of rights, a property rights article, just because the former article happened to have that phrase in it), or when readers click on a link and spend time looking through the link trying to find the non-existent relevant part.

So please slow down -- you'll do a good job for Wikipedia if you identify a potential link, and then consider it to see if it's valid, make the link if it's valid, and then go on to the next potential link. Duoduoduo (talk) 14:05, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. You're right, I've slowed down. Edward (talk) 23:06, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hash[edit]

Hi, I don't know if you're already aware but your find link tool apparently likes to add hashes (or cross-hatches) . See here, for example. LordVetinari (talk) 10:56, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I've never seen this before. I'll try and reproduce it. Edward (talk) 16:24, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Photos of railway stations[edit]

I have noticed Slateford railway station has a photo from Geograph which you added yourself(!) but is still in User:Edward/National Rail stations without a photograph. Styal railway station is also on your list and indeed has no photo but two are available on Geograph[2] although neither depicts the station too well. Thincat (talk) 10:21, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I added the photo for Styal railway station and updated my list. Edward (talk) 16:57, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Find Link- Getting shorter redirect name?[edit]

I'd like to look for situations where "Phi Beta Kappa" is unlinked, but because Phi Beta Kappa redirects to Phi Beta Kappa Society, it will only look for Phi Beta Kappa Society and won't look for Phi Beta Kappa. Any way around this? (I asked this about 2 months ago on the talk page for Find Link, but didn't get a response.)Naraht (talk) 14:06, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feature request. I'll take a look at implementing this. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Edward (talk) 23:14, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Theoretically, I could do this by changing Phi Beta Kappa from a redirect to a page with text on it (even if it is just deleting the last ] in the redirect) running Find Link and then changing the page back, right?Naraht (talk) 16:25, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I used to support this feature, but it wasn't part of the interface, it disappeared when I rewrote the tool a few months back. I'll have a go now at bringing it back. Source code is here: https://github.com/EdwardBetts/find_link Edward (talk) 16:30, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think I fixed it, let me know if you have any problems or more suggestions. Try this: http://edwardbetts.com/find_link/Phi_Beta_Kappa Edward (talk) 17:09, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Look beautiful. I'll take a look at the code when I can. (I don't know Python, but I'm fluent in about 20 other computer languages :) ). The only other suggestion that comes to mind is "external link to internal link" flip. What I would want is when it is looking for Phi Beta Kappa, it also includes things of the form Phi Beta Kappa which would be transformed into Phi Beta Kappa. Seems somewhat trickier and I could see people wanting that as a separate tool or an option on the page.Naraht (talk) 19:11, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Additional question. I have "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" turned on in my preferences. When I bring up a page to change using the tool, even though it has the link Phi Beta Kappa using Find link in the edit summary, it *still* complains if I try to save without changing something in the edit summary. Feature, bug or neither?Naraht (talk) 10:44, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've got a combination now that's ugly, when I look up "Order of the Coif", I get Tom Stagg twice (and I've seen pages ending up in the list twice before), but it is also a false hit. "Order of the Coif" is Wikilinked in the Infobox. the tool tries to put another set of brackets around it.Naraht (talk) 13:05, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Patrol survey[edit]

Hello Edward/archive4! The WMF is currently developing new tools to make new page patrolling much easier. Whether you have patrolled many pages or only a few, we now need to know about your experience. The survey takes only 6 minutes, and the information you provide will not be shared with third parties other than to assist us in analyzing the results of the survey; the WMF will not use the information to identify you.

 • If this has been sent to you in error and you have never patrolled new pages, please ignore it.

Please click HERE to take part.
Many thanks in advance for providing this essential feedback.

You are receiving this invitation because you have patrolled new pages. For more information, please see NPP Survey

Data[edit]

"The data are" sounds so stilted and old-fashioned. In modern usage, it's a collective noun (at least in computing, perhaps not in statistics). As a matter of interest, do you insist on "agenda" being plural too?

Disambiguation link notification[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Mark Hix, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Smithfield (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Station photos on Geograph[edit]

Do any of these help in the quest? Particularly Nitshill?

http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2382973 - Bootle New Strand

http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2724819 - Hag Fold (tenuous)

http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2416318 - Milliken Park (also tenuous)

http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2616293 / http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2616292 - Nitshill

I really wouldn't know, and certainly wouldn't know what to do with them. Thanks, Shrewdoliver (talk) 00:53, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

After a frankly horrifying amount of bashing my head against a wall, I think I've worked out to how to get stuff from Geograph to Commons, so there may now be a picture on Nitshill. Fingers crossed. I'm guessing the other two aren't really useful? Shrewdoliver (talk) 21:21, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Metro Walk[edit]

Hi, you have edited Metro Walk and this article is currently under a contentious debate on a possible merger or deletion, your opinion on the matter and content might be useful in resolving the issues and reaching consensus, perhaps you would then like to do so at your convenience. San Francisco meetup at WMF headquarters[edit]

Hi Edward,

I just wanted to give you a heads-up about the next wiki-meetup happening in SF. It'll be located at our very own Wikimedia Foundation offices, and we'd love it if some local editors who are new to the meetup scene came and got some free lunch with us :) Please sign up on the meetup page if you're interested in attending, and I hope to see you soon! Looking for input on revisions to biomonitoring article[edit]

Hi Edward, I have proposed a new section on the talk page for Biomonitoring. I'm new to Wikipedia and I have a WP:COI with the subject, so I was wondering, if you, as an experienced editor and someone who has edited the page in the past, could provide some feedback on my proposed changes? Thanks for your time. - Unbachar23 (talk) 19:15, 24 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

MSU Interview[edit]

Dear Edward,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, were it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

 • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
 • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
 • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
 • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
 • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 18:16, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Title Change[edit]

Hello Edward,

I wanted to ask you if you know how the title of the article about the company "Sulfurcell" can be changed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sulfurcell), because that company has changed its name to "Soltecture", as you can read on their homepage: http://www.soltecture.com/home.html. That's why the link to their old homepage doesn't work either. Thanks for your attention. Cheers 92.73.250.211 (talk) 10:24, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

automated tool for using edward link[edit]

Hi Edward , is there a automated tool to replace the bare words into wikilinks from the search result of Edward/Find link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Edward/Find_link

Sure, As an example take a look at http://edwardbetts.com/find_link/Hajipur_Junction I can see the 2 pages in the search result. and the green one is an obvious example for converting the Word "Hajipur Junction" into Hajipur Junction I was wondering if this can be done using an automated tool, The reason being some much needed and important articles give more than 20 - 30 results with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Edward/Find_link and we have to manually replace the text with wikilinks. I hope I have clarified my Question. regards-- ÐℬigXЯaɣ 21:38, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you click the the Desari Station link it should take you to an edit preview page with Hajipur Junction as a wikilink, you just need check the edit and click the Save Page button. Is this what you're looking for? Edward (talk) 21:42, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
yes, i just became aware of this by accidently clicking the link. and then i saw your response. Please consider adding this info in the documentation at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Edward/Find_link so that poor souls like me, could be helped thanks-- ÐℬigXЯaɣ 21:45, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Will do, thanks for the feedback. Edward (talk) 21:46, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dynamic Packaging page - question[edit]

hi Edward,

I saw that you participated to the creation of the page Dynamic packaging on wiki.

I found it really interesting and clear. Moreover, I wanted to create a page on that subject on the French wiki. As I'm a beginner on wiki, I do not know if it is possible to translate this page or do I have to create something totally new ?

Thanks in advance for your help and return. Regards Johanna.Arfi (talkcontribs) 13:47, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Go ahead and translate the page, you don't have to write something different. Edward (talk) 22:39, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot ! Johanna.Arfi (talk) 13:23, 7 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
