Nuala O'Loan[edit]

Good job expanding the Nuala O'Loan article. Best, Gwernol 17:13, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

SD[edit]

Hi, the version I tagged simply said "Nuala O'Loan is the police ombudsman for Northern Ireland.". To me, that didn't assert any notability and read like a lot of the very short bios that get posted and never expanded. What you have there now is quite nice. I occasionally monitor the new pages and recent changes and when something, as posted, doesn't appear to meet the standards of a wikipedia article I tag them as appropriately as I can. Do you think the article in the version I tagged for deletion qualified as notable? If so, I apologize for being too quick on the trigger. Again, nice work on the current version and in any case my apoologies for annoying you. Brian 21:41, 29 June 2006 (UTC)btball[reply]

Hi, just a little more ... I just read the talk page and now understand better your annoyance. I had no idea who Nuala O'Loan is, so that's my fault and ignorance. Thanks to Wikipedia, I've learned something :-) Brian 21:44, 29 June 2006 (UTC)btball[reply]

Mediation[edit]

Hi Ekilfeather, I would trust 75% of Admins to be impartial, and most of the rest I would just regard as susceptable to certain types of manipulation.

I'm afraid there is just no way to do it with User:SandyGeorgia because before you can mediate, first you have to have a kind of "intervention" to persuade her to stop lying, which involves spending hours wading back through acres of confabulation in histories to show where she is lying, finding a way to stop her ignoring the fact that you have just proved she is lying, convincing her she is not a special superior being to whom special rules apply.

I could even prove that her "I just want to get along" statement is a blatant lie if I didn't have an appointment 40 minutes away, in 30 minutes time...

Meanwhile she is getting what she wants, a forum to play headgames in...but thanks. --Zeraeph 12:40, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ekilfeather, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:NualaO1.jpg) was found at the following location: User talk:Ekilfeather/Nuala O'Loan(sandbox). This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not readd the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 02:52, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blackrock college[edit]

Hi Ekilfeather. I deleted the fees from the school page as I believe advertising the cost of something on Wikipedia constitutes advertising. The rest of the article about the college is worthwhile, but writing about the fees does not add anything to it. Number 57 08:23, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ekilfeather - thanks for the Dolmen info. I'm fascinated by these roadside sculptures (but know little about them). I see Rowan G also did the two old men in Sandyford Village, my home patch. Could you write an article on RG? (I hate red links! regards (Sarah777 06:02, 15 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]

I see a Rowan Gillespie sculpture in Toronto on the front of the Irish Times today. (Sarah777 23:53, 22 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]

The second ship[edit]

To answer your question, the other ship sunk by submarine in the postwar era was the Indian frigate INS Khukri, sunk by a Pakistani submarine during the '71 war. I added a paranthetical mention of that to the article, although I think it's coming close to wandering off-topic. Sacxpert 05:58, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:NualaO1.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:NualaO1.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 13:20, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
