Copyright problem[edit]

Hello. I see that on 12 February, you created a new article on Operational Support Unit (Ministry of Defence Police), here. Unfortunately, content you placed is out of keeping with Wikipedia's copyright policy and the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use.

For one example, content you added says:

All OSU officers are Authorised Firearms Officers, and are trained to exacting and high standards on multiple weapons systems. Whether armed or unarmed, they have the training and capability to support or respond to any incidents whether pre-planned or spontaneous which occur on the MOD estate.

The source says:

For another example, you wrote:

OSU officers can be deployed to provide policing and specialist support services to Divisional colleagues at events such as Royal or VIP visits or Military Open Days. They also provide uniformed assistance to CID and Fraud Squad investigations, and can be deployed to carry out high visibility patrols of Service quarters and other vulnerable sites during times of tension and heightened terrorist threat.

The source says:

They also provide uniformed assistance to CID and Fraud Squad investigations, and can be deployed to carry out high visibility patrols of Service quarters and other vulnerable sites during times of tension (e.g. following a heightened terrorist threat)

While the contributor who discovered the issue has rewritten some of the content and I have removed the rest, I need to be sure you are aware that both copyright policy and the website's terms of use prohibit importing text from sources that are not either public domain or compatibly licensed with Wikipedia. This content is neither. (For a list of compatible licenses, see our copyright FAQ. No license that forbids non-commercial reuse is compatible.) While you may use brief, clearly marked quotations in accordance with non-free content policy and guideline, you must otherwise rewrite copyrighted content completely into your own words. Minimal alterations are insufficient. Content must be rewritten completely.

Wikipedia:Copy-paste offers a little additional information and some links to policies and guidelines that may also be helpful. Thank you. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:32, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
