Accusation of vandalism[edit]

When I came onto wikipedia, a message appeared stating I had new messages, and when I clicked on this I found a message from you saying I had vandalised someone called pigsonthewing's talkpage. Was this meant for me? I'm not aware of vandalizing anything, so am seeking clarification.

Thanks 91.105.177.163 23:31, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually they were meant for a user using that IP address at the start of May. See here for more information. IP addresses can be assigned to different people and computers, so sorry for the confusion. To avoid getting messages meant for other people, and especially those sort of messages, it's a good idea to get a Wikipedia account.FlowerpotmaN·(t) 20:29, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh ok, was just worried I'd done something and not realised. Thanks for clearing that up.91.105.182.123 22:52, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I know that these messages must be annoying for people who receive them, especially when they haven't done anything wrong and don't know the reason behind them. You can always get an account to avoid them, even if you only use it now and then. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 22:58, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Extra note: Just realized I got the link in my first reply slightly wrong. Fixed now. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 23:06, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, it wasn't for you.[edit]

I'm new to wikipedia, and I vandalized it a bit, and I did get warnings for it, however I did quit it, and now I'm just reading around and creating my own page.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Irish articles assessments[edit]

Just a copy of what I posted to others.

It seems that the assessment of Irish articles has fallen off the radar but recently Flowerpotman, Sarah777 and I have been doing a little work on this as well as actually classifying articles (actually Sarah has done the most work). Anyway, you are listed as a member of the WikiProject hence this post.

  • The first thing that needs doing is to work on the WikiProject template. Actually there are two templates both of which get recorded by the assessment statistics bot that collects the ratings and creates the listings in the category Category:Ireland articles by quality. The two project templates are {{Irelandproj}} listed on the main project page and {{WikiProject Ireland}} listed on the assessment page—the first allows both quality and importance rating as well as nesting but no reviewer comments, while the second allows quality rating and comments but the importance does not seem to work and comments are not included. This needs to be fixed, so we use one that works fully—can you help?
  • The next thing is to decide if we just let editors assess as they wish or to create some criteria or guidelines for rating the quality and importance of the Irish articles. Personally I am in favour of some guidelines—some will be easy to decide while others are a little more complex. What do you think?
  • Some projects make lists of articles for assessment while other go after groups of articles by category. What should we do? A mixture of both by using a "To do list"?

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my talk page and warning that user for me. It got annoying having to revert it every few seconds. Stills64 22:03, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No prob. I know the feeling.:O) FlowerpotmaN·(t) 01:03, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Project template[edit]

If you are still up; one more thing. It might actually be a good idea to keep the peer-old as that can be pointed to the old peer reviews and makes no harm to be there. BTW, I presume you will paste this code into the {{Irelandproj}} template too. Cheers ww2censor 04:47, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article Table; Sept 7 update[edit]

At last...another update -

GA 5 2 1 2 10
B 15 42 31 24 28 140

Total 29 133 238 1562 602 2564

Category:Ireland articles by quality

Progress continues apace; 200 new articles found, 500 assessed and only 53 now unassessed! I'd still estimate there are 5,000 articles in total, so 2,500 still to be located and assessed. Dig in everyone!! (Sarah777 20:20, 7 September 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Your advise[edit]

Is well taken. I do get a little out of hand in my edit sums. I just occasionally log on and fight vandals on lunch breaks, then I go home and fight vandals for hours under my user name.

I'll ease up. But dang! Mondays are tough! It's like they all come out full force on Mondays. Thanks though for the heads up. 68.143.88.2 19:27, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(Ooops, I missed this) No problem. Sometimes I feel the same way, but I find muttering at the screen rather than typing it works better. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 22:36, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dylan Trenton[edit]

Only barely, I'm sure. I was really being too kind for an AfD. I haven't been too active on WP over the summer so lacked the Be Bold motto in the front of my mind. I don't look kindly on articles with NO references and no ghits to speak of. Slash and burn is almost my byline in cases like this. (leaves softly muttering dark imprecations against vanity articles.) Pigman 03:57, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Once I'd gotten the sense of other editor's opinions, I was encouraged to just root out the whole bunch of them. I was particularly swayed by the walled garden argument. And as I said, no references bring out the ruthless editor in me. Much as I love WP, crap articles without documentation annoy me a lot. (takes off ranting hat) Cheers. I did? I'm still baffled. That incomplete sentence was long around in the edit history. -WarthogDemon 04:13, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Aha. o.o I was trying to find where it began but couldn't. Thanks for the catch! -WarthogDemon 19:19, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My curiosity is now piqued. =O -WarthogDemon 20:12, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • No worries :O). Replying at your talk page. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 21:10, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, that's a really good tip! Thanks again, and just to let you know... this is my second mess-up in like two days. I'm a pretty lousy newpage patroller. :) *Cremepuff222* 21:14, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re Errrr[edit]

Trying to put a spam tag on, but when refreshed it wasn't there, so I tried again, logged out & back in again. still no tag. I saw creator of page has VandalWatch and wonder if he's underhandedly put some protection on it, which worried me somewhat. --Rodhullandemu 02:24, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just looked at this again. It seems there is something wrong with NPWatcher because clearly Black is not a new page. --Rodhullandemu 02:29, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
However Black & Veatch Corporation is a new page. Weird--Rodhullandemu 02:37, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
FYI, there was a bug in NPW which has now been fixed. --Rodhullandemu 21:18, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help! re my user info et. al.[edit]

I haven't been back to wikipedia for a while, have changed computers so none of my old password or login names are saved, and requests to send passwords hasn't resulted in any email although that address has to be the correct one.

I started this in desperation but then tried to log in one more time, using the name and password that showed up . . . and logged in. But there's still nothing on my personal page although there should be, nothing in my preferences, nothing in my watch list although there were a lot of things, and nothing in user contributions. You bailed me out when I had to do a three day crash course to fix some problems so I'm asking you for help.

BTW, I was trying to log in to finish up WSFA/Capclave/Disclave pages but also figure that it's time to check out the World Fantasy Convention page as well. Now that I'm logged in I can do that but don't want to do anything until what the heck is going on can be sorted out.

Erk.

  • Replying at EKovar talk page; I think it's just that you are trying to log into wrong account. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 21:02, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • And leaving a copy here just in case: Just checked your old account at which is at User:Kovar, (no E), and everything seems to be there. Try logging into the Kovar account with your old password. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 21:49, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good course of action[edit]

Yea..That was a good idea..Also the message prompt is not something I see on all talk pages..it allows others reply. I think you did correct. It is a copy of the other Brian Cowan article. Should he leave office then, tanaiste will be changed. The redirect will have to be removed also at that time and new content added.
