Your username[edit]

Hello there! I just noticed that you have a very similar username to User:Francois grosjean. Are you the same person? It might be confusing for other editors if you edit from a secondary account with a username so similar to that of your primary account. It's probably best if you just choose one of them and use the other as a doppelganger account. (See the legitimate reasons for using alternative accounts.) Or you can change your username to something more distinctive if you want. If you are the owner of both accounts, please log in to the User:Francois grosjean account and leave a message here saying that you are the same person.

If you are not the owner of the User:Francois grosjean account, then there is some impersonation going on - which is especially worrying given that we have an article on François Grosjean - and impersonation is forbidden by our username policy. If this is the case, you need to change your username, as the alternative would be being blocked. Let me know what's going on, and I'll try and sort things out. Hello. Yes, I am the same person. The problem probably arose because I do very little editing and at some point I must have forgotten my official user name and password. Please excuse me. And do please take one out. Thanks for letting me know which one remains. With very good wishes. François Grosjean. Francois Grosjean (talk) 08:15, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks for emailing me to confirm this. As you are the owner of both accounts, I can't see any reason to block either of them, so instead I have added a template to User:Francois grosjean indicating that it belongs to you and that you won't use it any more. However, it is up to you which one you want to use, so if you decide that you want to use the older account instead, just remove the template from the user page of that account and put it on the user page of this one. Because the user names are so similar, though, you shouldn't use more than one of the accounts for editing. If you want to make an alternative account for a legitimate reason (see the sockpuppetry policy for details) it should probably have a username that's easier to tell apart from your main account. I hope this explains everything, but please do feel free to ask if you have any questions. — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 07:29, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
