This doesn't really deserve it's own section, but you appear to be a recognized VP mod, based on Wizardry Dragon's results. So if you want to moderate... Prodego talk 02:24, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

That pane should work, but it oddly isn't (for all mods, not just you). Because of this, you need to type the users in manually and click the + for each. Then once all users with over 250 mainspace edits are approved (unless you decline for other reasons), click the update button at the bottom. Then click the welcome users button. After you have welcomed the new users go to those you declined and leave them {{DeclineVP}}. Prodego talk 20:45, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
If your monobook.js or .css looks wrong (no border) just purge the squid cache (the button). That will make it display right, no need for <pre>s Prodego talk 20:42, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Cry_Wolf

I've reverted your edit to Mafia (game) in which you remove the underscore from Cry_Wolf. The underscore is correct, as is visible on at the Cry_Wolf article. An easy mistake, given than an underscore in a Wikipedia link is almost always wrong, just wanted to give you a heads up. — Alan De Smet | Talk 04:41, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks a lot for that barnstar - I really appreciate it! --Fir0002 01:23, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

VP

Hi froth, thanks for signing off on my Vandal Proof application. I have had some problems logging on, with the error message You are not on the user list appearing. Can you help? schgooda 01:25, 4 January 2007 (UTC) Unfortunately not.schgooda 01:37, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi Froth, it is not considered desirable to warn users that have corrected their bad edits themselves with strongly worded warnings. "Thanks for experimenting..." or warning like that would be more appropriate. You also need to sign your posts on talk pages...--Pethr 06:25, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

No problem, I just wanted to make a point about being cautious with warnings. I wasn't cautious enough either because I marked that edit vandalism in edit summary only later realizing he corrected himself in subsequent edit which I automatically considered to be just another vandalism.--Pethr 06:46, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

My User Name

I would like to thank you for your blatant threat to have me removed from Wikipedia. Despite my numerous contributions to Wikipedia, and for me to lend my support to your delist nomination, this is the thanks I get? And it seems that numerous Wikipedians have had no problems with my username or haven't raised any eyes about it, including established administrators.

I demand a formal apology and that you cease any further attempts to get me banned from Wikipedia without due cause.--293.xx.xxx.xx 08:32, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Re Decline of VP use

Hey... thanks for getting back to me. I knew about the edit minimum but I thought that parhaps a look my contribs might convince. Not a problem, of course, and I understand your reasoning. I'll keep on clunking along with undo and popups :-) Thanks for taking the time to leave a detailed message! It is appreciated. Katalaveno 03:18, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the approval and vote of confidence! I will not disappoint. Katalaveno 03:33, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks - about Vandalproof

Hi there, I'd downloaded Vandalproof and then realised you needed to be confirmed access to it! Anyway thanks for giving me the oppurtunity to use it to fight vandals on Wikipedia! Thanks again TellyaddictTalk 19:42, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

I have a question. On the Wikipedia page about it the creator says that you can block vandals, so does this mean I could even though I am not an administrator, but I would have to have a valid reason?. Please answer soon! TellyaddictTalk 19:45, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

VP approval mess

You double approved some users (a new applicant put already approved names back on), could you fix it please? Remember to remove the double welcomes. Prodego talk 19:03, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

You need to click the doubled names on the approved list, then click -. Then update as usual. I'll let you do it so you can see how. Prodego talk 22:04, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
To jump in to the topic, I'm one of the double-approved users ([1]) users :) but I'm experiencing problems and unable to use the software. When I run the executable, the "Connect to VandalProof" screen correctly identifies my username, but I can't verify my authorization and get the "You are not on the user list" error. Could there be a connection with me being double-approved, some duplicate user data causing problems etc.? Thanks in advance for your time.. --Xasf 23:51, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

VP message

I do thank you for the note on my application being denied - it is definitely much better than to hear nothing! Can you not though take into account that I have been registered for more than two years with no history of vandalism or edit wars? It is no problem if not, I'm just keen to help and make the most use of my time. Camw 01:55, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

No problem, happy to accept your decision. Camw 02:29, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Vandal Proof

Hello. I was recently approved for VandalProof, but when I downloaded and tried to run it, it told me that I wasn't on the list. I tried to contact User:Betacommand about this but I heard nothing. I have dynamic IP, could that be the reason why I can't log in with VP? Cheers! Baristarim 19:26, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Ok, thanks! Baristarim 19:36, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

VandalProof approval for User talk:Corpx

I hope this isn't out of line, and I don't intend to sound mean-spirited. I can see that the user meets the minimum requirements (just barely), but it might be just a bit too early to put a power tool like VP in this user's hands. Take a look at the notes I posted to that talk page just before your note. I don't think the user will intentionally abuse the tools, but his or her understanding of basic procedures seems a bit weak right now. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 05:13, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

You might have misunderstood. I was assuming good faith. Note that I said "I don't think the user will intentionally abuse the tools". My concern is that he thought it made sense to post {{test4}} to an anon user whose last vandalism warning (from me, which is why I noticed it -- it was on my watch list) was a {{test1}} back in September. The fact that he didn't know about "subst" is probably less critical, as VP will take care of that. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 05:26, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

My thought was that you can rack up mistakes a lot more quickly with VP than you can manually. But no, it would be inappropriate to immediately de-list him. I'll watch his first few edits to see if I can offer him any pointers. Umm, I should have already been on the approve list; I was added on November 3. I tried it for a few days, but gave up after fighting that run-time error '91'. It was crashing on me every few minutes, so it was unusable. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 05:46, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Does it deauthorize after a period of inactivity? I haven't tried to use VP since early November. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 06:08, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

re:your username

Thanks for the hint. I will think of another name soon. WP 06:53, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Ok, I get it

You've posted 3 times on my talk page telling me I have the right to use VandalProof, which I'm currently using to write this message. You can stop now if you'd like, unless you really feel you feel the need to continue..? Thanks, Ard0 (Talk - Contribs) 01:51, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

No problem, codes and auto-things of any type usually like to be finnicky, and if there's a way for them to go wrong, they will. May I suggest you get a better picture?? It doesn't show you that well, you know, just waking up and all. :D

Thanks, Ard0 (Talk - Contribs) 02:03, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Archiving the RD

Hey Bri, sorry about the confusion. What I usually do is to copy the "to be archived" chunk to the new archive page and then go back and cut the chunk from the donor page. I've found (the hard way) that it's safer that way, until tonight that is! If you have no objection, I'd like to restore the first couple of days of '07 back to the RD so that Archive 20 will be a clean break at the end of '06. Let me know. --hydnjo talk 02:34, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

OK, done. I guess we should check with each other before archiving next time. Nah nevermind, it was more fun the way we did it! --hydnjo talk 03:37, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
NP and feel free to do it whenever you think it needs to be done. I'm just going to set up the next couple of new archives (A21 & A22) to make it a bit easier for whoever does it. "See" you around the RD. --hydnjo talk 03:49, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Same page, different subject: I've requested speedy deletion of Wikipedia talk:Reference desk/Archive 21 so as to red-link it in the Archive box at WT:RD. That way there will be no confusion as to where the next archive is. You may be asked to approve this request as you are the author of A21. Just keeping you in the loop. --hydnjo talk 00:38, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Disregard, its been speedy'd by Cbrown1023 (or, did you make it happen somehow?).  ;-) --hydnjo talk 01:26, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Please stop feeding the refdesk trolls. Hipocrite - «Talk» 03:27, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Several people, including myself, are confused about your comment on this nomination, when you say you can still see duplicate people in the edit. No-one else seems to be able to, and the photographer guarantees that there are none. Personally I can't even see the one you call a 'glaring example', as I'm not quite sure which person you are referring to. I think it would be helpful if you could be more specific here. I do thank you Froth for the note on my application being denied. I appreciated your reply, that was indeed better than receiving no reply. Thank you once again ;) --Extranet (Talk | Contribs) 05:42, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Why must you get on me about my signature when you could be doing something much better to help the encyclopedia right now. Multiple approvals

I am not sure, you are closing the mod tools after you update the list and welcome, right? Prodego talk 20:12, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

No idea then, I'd just ignore it unless the users actually appear on the list multiple times (in which case just remove them). By the way, I updated your monobook (code cleanup, no functional changes). Prodego talk 20:38, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, there was one error fixed here. Maybe that did it? Prodego talk 22:32, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
All right, I will test the whole thing then, give me a minute. Prodego talk 22:45, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
Oddly I can use popups with your monobook.js with no problem. Are you sure my change is what broke it? Prodego talk 22:48, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

VP

Hi, I tried to connect to VP and it says the user list is corrupt and told me to contact a moderator to fix it, can you help? thanks.... Tellyaddict 21:29, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Cheers for the Help! Tellyaddict 22:06, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

He said if the last edit was minor, it would break it. I made the null edit minor, then a major edit revert (following the same procedure he used), but since that did not work it must be something else, perhaps an interface change. I have e-mailed AmiDaniel about it. Prodego talk 22:07, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
Do you remember what page VP loads in particular when verifying login (history, diff, actual page, ect) from when you checked it out with ethereal? Prodego talk 22:11, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
Just to be clear, it was broken before I made the minor edit, that was an attempt to fix the page. Prodego talk 22:26, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

on notability

from Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/JRPG (game): "Software isn't notable for being free, it's notable for being popular " Popularity is not a determiner of notability, and things can be popular and non-notable, or unpopular and notable. Please don't confuse the two. Night Gyr (talk/Oy) 01:52, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Your view on StuRat's RfC

I'm a little puzzled by your view on StuRat's RfC. You said that "deletionist" became an accepted term. However, many users repeatedly requested that StuRat stop using it--and only people on one side of the debate use it as a means to characterize people on the other side. If your only standard for acceptance is that the term got used repeatedly by a few people, fine. If not, can you reconsider what you said? -- SCZenz 13:25, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

VandalProof

We need to be more careful with the approvals of VP. Recently there have been a number of users that were approved who should not have been. I appears that as long as the user has +250 edits you approve. while that is one factor in approving there are others and Im not sure that your looking into them. I do not mean to insult you but I would like to take over the VP approvals completely for a while to ensure that there are no errors in approving. If you would Like I can go over the details of what to look into besides the edit count if you wish. Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 19:29, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
