2019-nCoV Acute Respiratory Syndrome[edit]

Official results don't list the nationalities. Official entry list does. Official entry list says Taiwan for the car and for Chen. Car carries the flag of Taiwan. Chen's suit carries the flag of Taiwan. You cannot ignore official references just because it suits your agenda. That includes attempting to use sockpuppet accounts. The official entry list is more official than television graphics and websites. Stewards and officials produce the entry list, they do not run the website or television coverage. You want to repeatedly ignore that the entry list of the race, for months, has said Taiwan. For someone that doesn't care, you sure seem to have selective memory to forward your point. Everyone STOP. The entry list shows Taipei for driver and Team. Hub Auto Racing TPE T20003 Michelin Ferrari 488 GTE EVO Tom Blomqvist GBR P 237583 GBR Morris Chen TPE B IB-19025 TWN. The second nationality is license nationality which is Taiwan for Chan, presumably because of political issues? Anyhow stop edit warring the pair of you. The359 if you want to go down the socking route with Fung about using an IP, I can do the exact same thing to you from that page. So just breathe instead of threatening people. Thank you. I'd further point out that the "final" entry list is full of errors, several teams and drivers have the wrong nationality. All previous entry lists had TWN for Hub Auto and Chen because that is the nation to issue a license for them. The³5₉ (Talk) 14:45, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to point out this. I put a link in which was from Thursday, which I think still links to the 17.09.2020. Anyway if you go on the link The359 is presenting with out the web archive, you see it is updated to the 19.09.2020 (today) and still shows the team and the car at TPE. Somehow I don't think it is a mistake as Asian Le Mans Series had Chan or the Team (I'll admit not abundantly clear no PDF, also team list no nationalities and Chan only appears in results for final round, so I think it is for him) as TPE. The entry list link updated daily. It listed Taiwan up until today, and as you point out Chen's license issuer is still listed as Taiwan. And as shown, the flag of Taiwan was issued to the car and is on the team's garage. The Asian Le Mans Series likely used Taipei because they raced in China and couldn't use the Taiwan flag in the PRC. The point is that the team and driver list themselves as Taiwan, and the ACO/FIA is wishy-washy on the flag for the entry because they have obviously been inconsistent. As a verifiable reference, the team is from Taiwan. Hence, the flag of Taiwan. Chinese Taipei inherently has various issues on which flag is correct (I'd point out the WEC website removed the Olympic flag they used a few days ago). Per the CTAF, the official FIA member, their official name is the Chinese Automobile Association, but the English translation is Chinese Taipei Automobile Association. There are no stipulations about flags. The drivers and teams showing the flag of Taiwan inherently shows they do not all use the flag of Taipei. The³5₉ (Talk) 15:34, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, Fung I was about to quote ""Chinese Taipei" is the name used in some international organizations and competitions for Taiwan (officially the Republic of China; ROC). This name was first proposed in the Nagoya Resolution whereby the ROC/Taiwan and the People's Republic of China (PRC) recognize the right of participation to each other when it comes to the activities of the International Olympic Committee and its correlates. The ROC participates under this name in various international organizations and events, including the World Trade Organization, the World Health Organization, the Metre Convention, and international pageants." The359 FYI this has nothing to do with whether an event is in China or not. Lets see was FIA says...I've googled FIA Taiwan and it came up with this. Since this is a FIA event, I would suggest that TPE would be correct and ACO have been a little slack and are now correcting it no? Anyhows Chinese Taipei is how it would translate to anyway and their logo even carries Chinese Taipei and the last time we looked we are English and therefore should go with it as the correct translation for English and not try and create a diplomatic incident both organisations have Chinese Taipei in their name. As stated, their name is "Chinese Automobile Association" because the country is officially the Republic of China, not Taiwan. The translation of Chinese Taipei is exactly that, a translation. The official name is China, not Chinese Taipei.

The entire WEC is run jointly by the ACO/FIA, so the FIA was just as involved in the issuing of entry lists as the ACO is. See for instance the initial list of automatic entries. None of this addresses the flag. The flag is inconsistent, the car, driver, and garage all carry the flag of PRC, the television graphics carry the flag of Chinese Taipei, and the WEC website no longer lists any flag. The259 no need to cherry pick what you want out of that paragraph. It states that this was an agreement and since as you know China are part of FIA, ROC/Taiwan would have to be referred to as Chinese Taipei in the FIA (and any organisation listed i.e. official motorsport governance for the area otherwise you run into legal issues as the name don't match) as per the explanation on Wikipedia. The Nagoya Resolution is specifically only for the Olympics. This does not address the flag. What can you WP:PROVEIT about what flag to use for Hub Auto Racing and Dennis Chen? We have confirmation of ROC flags on the car, the driver, the garage, and all entry lists from February until September 18. The entry list for September 19 has no flag, just lists Chinese Taipei. The WEC and 24 Hours of Le Mans websites no longer list any flag after initially listing the Chinese Taipei Olympic flag. Television coverage uses the Chinese Taipei Olympic flag. In any case I would kindly request to STOP editing the article with regards to this flag. No-one benefits from the about 30 reverts that have occurred. I think it would be best to start a discussion on the article's talk page. The last thing we want to see happen is for the article to be put under full protection with the race going on as I type.
