Welcome to Wikipedia[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! I saw your edit at Neurotransmission, and I think it was very helpful by covering something that was overlooked previously. You may perhaps also be interested in WP:WikiProject Neuroscience. Please feel free to get in touch with me any time if you have any questions at all about editing here. --Tryptofish (talk) 22:54, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Newbie trying to contribute[edit]

Hello Tryptofish, thank you very much for your welcome and for your support offer. I would like to contribute to this section, as I am currently doing a PhD in animal behavior and welfare, so I am around these pages quite often, searching for links mainly. I am a veterinary surgeon currently working for the UK government, although my mother tongue is Spanish. I have noticed that there is no any in Spanish for Neurotransmission, yet i.e. would be "Neurotransmision" and felt quite frustrated about it, as my champion in the subject, Santiago Ramon y Cajal was the creator of the Neuronal Theory. I would like to help making the translation of this page, but I don't really know how this works. Could you please give me some guidance? I am not even sure if this is the right way to ask about these things. Thanks GabrielFreiria

Hello Gabriel, I just happened across your page. There are instructions in English about how to translate at the Translation project's page, but you can also go to [es.wikipedia.org the Spanish Wikipedia], which will have a page for translation in your native language. I don't speak much Spanish, but I've done a bit of translation between English and French before, so please feel free to ask me if you have any questions! You can also ask questions in a really friendly environment over at the Wikipedia Teahouse, where experienced users help newer users get on their feet. Wikipedia's complicated, so we're here to help you. We could also probably track down someone to help on the Spanish Wikipedia, all you have to do is ask! Again, welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you so very much for your contributions. Warmest regards, Keilana|Parlez ici 16:53, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Keilana, I saw those sections about translation and have tried a little bit, but it was quite difficult to do it. However I did it anyway in the old fashion way, just writing everything down again. On top of that, I have got an English user, so my sand pit is for English articles and the spelling tool in Spanish doesn't work, so when I submitted the final version everything was marked as wrong and I was awarded with the "impolite" message that the translation was of poor quality. Also I had some issues with spelling and special characters that a Spanish editor (person) amended, because of my keyboard and other stuff. However it was a good exercise because I learned how to write an article from new and on top of that there is a Spanish link for Neurotransmission now. For the next translation I will definitively try all the tools, and the Wikipedia Teahouse. Kind regards.
Hi Gabriel, I'm sorry it was a confusing experience, but I hope you stick with it and the next one is a little bit easier! Best wishes. Keilana|Parlez ici 20:38, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
