Boca Juniors[edit]

Hi Gazzas46zs, I saw some of your edits on Boca Juniors article, specifically in the first years of the club (foundation). I have modified your entries because you made a literal "copy-paste" from the website Irlandeses.org and Wikipedia is not a copy-paste website.

I don't know if Paddy McCarthy was so important for British football and I don't want to go into controversies about his influence on Argentine football but remember that the article is about Boca Juniors, not McCarthy. If you wish, you can create an article dedicated to him, which has not been written yet. Thanks, Fma12 (talk) 14:33, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gazza, thanks for your feedback. I understand your wishes to improve the Boca Juniors page adding new relevant information about its foundation. I've always been a fan not only of Boca Juniors but for of Argentine football, having editing and adding information and sources in many articles on the WP. In fact, one of my favorite topics refers to the origins of football and its clubs in Argentina, most of them founded by British immigrants (who introduced football in my country in 1867).
The matter about the origin of Boca Juniors is, at least, a delicate matter. Most of researchers who published articles and books in Argentina coincide in a point: that Boca was founded by Italian immigrants (most specifically, Genovese people). And your version about the club being established by McCarthy would fall in contradiction with all the books and articles (even the version by Boca's official website) stating the Genovese origins of the club. I hope you understand the situation: Boca has historically had a strong empathy to the Italian community in Argentina and is still considered "a club of (Italian) immigrants", unlike most of football clubs with British roots.
Therefore I think the best option is to open a discussion on the talk page citing the book you came up with, instead of editing the page with so questionable argument. I will personally do it, citing the book including the link to it. Please let me know if you have more suggestions or comments. Thank you for your kindness and contributions to the club I'm a devoted fan of. Fma12 (talk) 13:25, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for August 16[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Vélez Sársfield (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Speedy deletion nomination of Patrick McCarthy (Footballer and Boxer)[edit]

Hello Gazzas46zs,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Patrick McCarthy (Footballer and Boxer) for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Crispulop (talk) 08:45, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
