Madrid captains[edit]

Captaincy is determine by seasons on the club. It's Casillas, Sergio Ramos and then Diarra. When were the three matches that Marcelo wore the captain's band? Raul17 (talk) 22:32, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • August 4 vs Club América (1st half Marcelo; 2nd Diarra)
  • August 7 vs LA Galaxy (1st half Sergio Ramos; 2nd Casillas)
  • August 13 vs Bayern Munich (Casillas)
  • August 17 vs Standard Liege (1st half Casillas; 2nd Sergio Ramos)
  • August 22 at Hércules (1st half Marcelo; 2nd Dudek)

Since the mid 90s, the Madrid captaincy has been seniority. Other clubs, especially those in England, the captain is selected by the players' votes or coach's appointment. However, the reserves are a different matter. Last season, Adán should have been the captain, but Tébar was named instead and Mosquera was named after Tébar's loan spell. This season, it looks like Fran Rico will be captain eventhough Mateos and Velayos have senority. And it appears that Luis Hernández will be vice-captain; he wore the armband ths pre-season while more senior players were on the field!! Last year at Madrid C when Luis Hernández was playing for Castilla, José Cruz wore the band but Pedro Marques to be seem playing forever for the C team! Moyano & Garrido have worn the band despite "veteran" Aldea on the field and those two were playing their first season in the Tercera!! Raul17 (talk) 22:42, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, no. I did not think we are disagreeing. I was just trying explain my confusion on how the first team and reserve teams differ on how they pick their captains. I am sorry for my impression of being huffy buffy. I did not mean to offend nor did I feel offended. I do not get into "battles" with other editors. But I do wish to respond about Diarra: I do not think Madrid have defensive midfielder other than Diarra. I do not know anything about the new guys. Madrid has not been the same since they let Makelele go! And Diarra is the closest they will get! CHEERS! Raul17 (talk) 00:35, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Garay[edit]

Garay will be out for at least three months which is why it made sense to drop him so Özil could be on the roster. If Madrid make a transaction before the close of transfer window, they can re-register him again. If not, they have the January window to try again. Raul17 (talk) 23:18, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The plan is to sell someone, but if they don't, they have January to sell. Hopefully it's Drenthe because he has not anything since he arrived! Raul17 (talk) 23:45, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
