Supertomiman reply

I was indeed the one who reverted the page before, but I was unable to explain why because i didn't have an account on wikipedia. I think that Xia should not redirect to Youxia because it doesn't mention anything about the code of xia. It may also lead to the conclusion of some readers that all Chinese knights were knight-errants. I have corrected the link to knight-errant in Youxia and replaced it for Wuxia. I also added some links that have an extremely similar text to the one in the article, providing a sufficient source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Supertomiman (talkcontribs) 03:16, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Madmonk03.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Madmonk03.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:47, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Arabic

The best advice I can give is don't let it slip away...keep at it, and study it intensely. It's not terribly difficult, but it's so totally different from English and any other language I know that it is hard to grasp some of the basic concepts sometimes. The sounds and the alphabet are actually the easy part! I haven't kept up with it, unfortunately, and now most of my Arabic knowledge is lost again...so just beat yourself over the head with it until it sticks. Read children's stories and newspapers, anything at all, even the Arabic wikipedia, not just the exercises in the textbook. Adam Bishop (talk) 01:49, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

What up man!

How's it going. Long time no see. I've got a new FA candidate if you want to check it out: Ancient Egyptian literature. Have fun with that; it's a decent-sized read. Peace.--Pericles of AthensTalk 04:59, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Really? I never knew you were into Egyptian mythology. That's cool! The Cairo Geniza documents are really an awesome find and reveal snippets of the extent of knowledge that premodern scholars had about their Eurasian world.--Pericles of AthensTalk 22:16, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Bodhidarma in martial arts

That is surprising. Have you traveled to the Shaolin temple near Deng Feng, China?Clftruthseeking (talk) 00:23, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Ghostwhatever. I have also tried to clarify this well-known point. I ref'd the shoalin website for ease. It's a shame you appear to show such apparent naive prejudice. I hope that when I find some references that prove Tat Moh taught the precursor of Kungfu to Chinese monks (that pass your ridiculous standards compared to other articles) you won't pass your orwellian brush over them. Removal of AFD notice

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Ashida Kim. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. It is clearly not appropriate to remove the AFD notice from an article while the discussion is continuing. In general, such notices may only be removed after the AFD discussion is properly closed. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz (talk) 19:38, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Read the edit summary again. The last deletion was closed because people kept on nominating it over an over again. It was decided that the page should not be put up for deletion again until a year after the previous one. --Ghostexorcist (talk) 23:36, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
Nothing of the sort was "decided"; and you did not leave anything resembling a "viable explanation." You removed a deletion notice before the AFD had run its course. You did not close, or attempt to close, the AFD, or participate in the AFD, and your action did not reflect the consensus of the AFD. Nor did it reflect the consensus of the prior AFD; the one-year hiatus was a suggestion made by one editor, not accepted by anyone else, in particular the closing admin. (Even if that was the past consensus, consensus can change.) If you're going to misrepresent the outcome of a prior process, and ignore the process for handling a current dispute, your edits will be indistinguishable from, and treated as, vandalism -- as 99+% of the removal of deletion notices without proper closure of AFD discussions are vandalism. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz (talk) 00:09, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
You can call it vandalism if it makes you feel better. Any further comments from you on my talk page will be struck through and duly ignored. --Ghostexorcist (talk) 20:42, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
I sympathise with the frustration over the repeated deletion nomination, but I think we are better off pointing these out in the debate, if you leave the template up it will attract more people to review the arguments & the article, and hopefully improve that article.

Magical negro oversight

Hello, Ghostexorcist … I noticed that you (and TheRedPenOfDoom (talk · contribs)) have been monitoring Magical negro (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) for unsourced references … we've reverted about the same number. :-)

I also notice that, like me, you don't bother to comment on the talk page of anons when it's their first or only edit … I chalk that up to WP:AGF, and they can be dealt with politely if they try inserting the material a second time … anywho, just wanted to give you an "Attaboy!" for your due diligence. :-)

Northern Shaolin

The most recent additions to the Martial Arts pages have been EXTERNAL RESOURCES. I see that you "allow" other Northern Shaolin people to put up links, yet decide mine is not allowed? This is unfair and is NOT "personal opinion". I am a teacher of the style. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Northwind (talkcontribs) 01:07, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

I don't monitor the page on a daily basis. I only revert the additions I happen to take note of and see they don't adhere to wikipedia policy on WP:RS. It does not matter if you are a teacher of the style at all. The blogs you add are just not reliable sources. Plain and simple. --Ghostexorcist (talk) 03:04, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Cool. The words are a bit hard to make out, but I've never before seen מי-אל abbreviated as מייל! -- Zsero (talk) 14:30, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

On a closer look, I don't think it's an abbreviation, but a misspelling. The next word, נושא, is misspelt נוסי; clearly the writer was transscribing a prayer that he had only heard, and guessing at the spelling. -- Zsero (talk) 15:49, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Zhou Tong TOC

How does this look as a compromise? You are free to add padding if you like, of course, but the TOC certainly shouldn't be on the right, so far down the page, and wedged in between an infobox and an image. When I first saw the article the TOC was so hard to find that I thought there was none (when I opened the edit window I was looking for the __NOTOC__. Obviously a TOC doesn't help readers if they can't find it. Changing it to {{TOCleft}} in my edit allows the text to wrap and avoids the large whitespace, which I assume is what you wanted, without making the TOC so hard to find. Note that, per Template:TOCright#Cautions, TOCs are not to be moved around for stylistic concerns alone. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 19:23, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi Ghost, long time no see! How's it going man?

I almost never come on Wiki anymore (I'm way past my Wiki withdrawal phase), but this week I thought I'd slip under the radar and do a few things here and there. To be honest, I've been doing mostly simple stuff like adding hidden links, reverting vandalism, etc. But as you can see from my talk page, I briefly got involved with an effort to improve the intro to the Tang Dynasty. Don't announce anything, though! *Ssshhh* I'm not even here folks, nothing to see, move along. Still in retirement. Relaxing and enjoying it.

Lol.

And yes, John Hill is an awesome intellect; I have deep respect for him. Unfortunately I haven't gotten a chance to look at his translation of the Hou Han Shu, but now that you mention it, I will be taking a look.

Cheers and beers buddy, Eric --Pericles of AthensTalk 20:58, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Hello there!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write and make contact again and, of course, for your very kind comments about my book. I am so glad you like it. I am now working to get my annotated translation of the 'Chapter on the Peoples of the West' from the 3rd century Weilüe ready for publication. This will take some time, but is also really interesting - especially as it has a lot more detail on the Roman Empire. Anyway, thanks again for your encouragement and all best wishes to you.
