Hi. No absolutely not. The city categories are indeed for articles about articles within that city. Category:Nagpur would just be placed in the new category. Not even the main categories for districts would be affected because the new categories would feed out of them too. Regards ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 16:13, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

PIB Photos

The copyright status of that image (you upoaded in Pather Panchali) says "Free use:Yes (Released free of cost to be used by the media, public)". Is that written in PIB website? I ask this because previously it was noted that Government of india phtos are not for free use. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 17:02, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Yes in the past it was decided that nic.in images are not in public domain, unlike usa.gov (Indian govt sites do not explicitely tell that the images are in public domain. They just have some ambiguous comments). However, I am not an expert in this image issues. This thing can be discussed in the talk page of India noticeboard.--Dwaipayan (talk) 13:16, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Raman Science Centre

A tag has been placed on Raman Science Centre, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Thingg 15:24, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the addition

However I trimmed it a bit as the 2008 attacks on ... article is reaching its size limits. Another note: Some photographs on the Nagpur page are pretty ordinary especially those depicting the The Butibori Industrial Estate and the orange farm. I feel you should replace them with better quality photos. Also the refernces are not formatted properly. Using {{cite web}}, {{cite news}}, {{cite book}} etc. templates is a better option. Article

I provided a copy of the deleted article at User:Chrislk02/Kirori Singh Bhainsla. It has many problems, the most important being that it has NO sources. If it has reliable sources, it would probably be ok. I will leave it in my userpsace for a week then I will re-delete it unless serious cleanup has been made. If you fix it up and want me to put it back in the mainspace, let me know and I will review it and if it is OK, move it back to the userspace. Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 14:24, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Hello GP. I am extremely dissappointed that you neglected to inform me when you nominated the INA controversy article for deletion. Other than a common courtesy, if you saw the Talk page, I have explained I intend to shrink the parent article, hence it is not going to remain a "cut and paste" for eternity, but will be significantly improved. But I am insanely busy for another three or four days. The parent article is quite long, and summary style would mean that every lengthy section would need to be condensed. This was the same as what was done for a preceding section on INA's operations. rueben_lys (talk · contribs) 16:41, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Advice

Theres no need to fill in the language field in {{cite web}} if the language is English. Only if the lang is other than English one has to fill it. Even I didn't know this for a long time until I read the template:cite web/doc. KnowledgeHegemonyPart2 (talk) 16:42, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Can you convert this image into svg format. Reason? Read this!. Good job with Kirori Singh Bhainsla...however for getting it a successfully selected for WP:DYK the article needs a little more expansion and ref formatting. The rules say:

Long enough - The article must be of sufficient length.

Articles should have a minimum of 1,500 characters (around 1.5 kilobytes) in main body prose (ignoring infoboxes, categories, references, lists, and tables).

In practice, articles longer than 1,500 characters may still be rejected as too short, at the discretion of the selecting administrators.

So expand it a little more... Best of luck!

KnowledgeHegemonyPart2 (talk) 04:56, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

I am confused about these terms?? I feel you (a user with knowledge about images) should talk to user:Kelly and explain about it ... as I am in no position to talk about these things (coz I don't know anything about svg or png or any --g for that matter)...thanks, KnowledgeHegemonyPart2 (talk) 06:59, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Message?

I meant to say the title, "WikiProject India Newsletter Volume I, Issue no. 001" should be changed to "WikiProject India Newsletter Volume III, Issue no. 001". See Wikipedia:INO#Archives. Three issues in year, 2006 used "Volume I". Two issues in 2007 used "Volume II". 2008 must be "Volume III" going by the same logic. Hope that clarifies. Newsletter

Hey Gppande, nice to see your message on my talk page. Well, it isn't that I've got previous experience with the newsletter, but I definitely would love to contribute to it along with you. I'll work with you on the content of the newsletter and I'll add to your already wonderful beginnings. I'm sure you've done substantial research to get it to this stage in your sandbox. Let me work on a few things before tonight (IST) and write you back on this. Mspraveen (talk) 15:18, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi there. I feel that the newsletter still lacks some more information that can add more weight to it. If you can wait for today, I'll research a little more and see if we can add more to it. Further to this, I feel that the newsletters should be released towards the end of any given period (maybe monthly/bi-monthly) showcasing the news from the past. This newsletter is a whirlwind update of 2008 and so the next one could be towards the end of July 2008. What say? Mspraveen (talk) 08:52, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
Hi there, I've done some additions to the draft in your sandbox. The Tag & Assess and Bot0612 items have been shifted to the project news section because I feel that they constitute as news articles and not as proposals/discussions. Furthermore, I've done a few more minor changes that I haven't kept track of such as the formatting and stuff. I've finally added a touch of randomness to our newsletter format by adding DYK's from WP:India's newest articles. Thoughts?? I think it is ready to rock 'n roll! What say? Cheers! Mspraveen (talk) 18:26, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
Hello! Nice to see your reply. With regards to the DYK section, don't you think that we might not have new facts coming up for every newsletter? Or maybe you believe that we can try salvaging some DYKs somehow? Mspraveen (talk) 16:18, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
Sounds good. On similar lines, I had it on my mind too that we could have a admin/member spotlight where we can formalize a set of questions that the editor can answer. Maybe in between the newsletter releases, an appointed jury can select this editor based on accumulated points. I remember seeing this in one WikiProject and this can be thought of once this is over. But, this one seems good to go! And I prefer keeping the surprise factor open. Moreover, this may also be added to key talk pages related to WP:India. Lets kick some ass! :) Cheers! Mspraveen (talk) 16:39, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Hexaware

A tag has been placed on Hexaware requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

Mayalld (talk) 19:08, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Hello - I have removed the speedy tags you placed on the above two articles. The papers listed on the two pages clearly show that the authors are two of the most highly cited roboticists in the multi-agent systems areas, and clearly notable for Wikipedia. --Jiuguang Wang (talk) 15:58, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Deletion policy

According to Wikipedia:Deletion policy, "anyone except a page's creator may contest the speedy deletion of a page by removing the deletion notice from the page." It is not necessary to be an admin to remove a speedy deletion tag. In the case of Kollam Thulasi, the Internet Movie Database listing is enough that the speedy tag does not apply. You can add a {{Notability|Biogeaphies}} tag if you wish, though. As well, if you can find any references in Malayalam articles about Kollam Thulasi, please add them to the article. --Eastmain (talk) 19:36, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I will just clear it up a little for ya. Poland was in 1939 attacked by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, both countries closely cooperated and divided Poland. In 1941 the Germans attacked the Soviets, and in 1944-1945 the Soviets chased out the Germans from the territory of Poland, installing their own communist regime. The new regime was disliked by the majority of Poles, and many members of antinazi resistance decided to fight the Soviets, hence we had those raids. Hope it is clear now. India House

Hello GP, I wanted to thank you for your comments on my talkpage for the earlier INA controversy article (I should have got back, but got very involved with afew other projects), and ask you for a further favour. I was wondering you could have a look at India House. I have listed it for peer review since I wanted to see if it could be FAd, but knowing peer reviews I dont really expect much out of it. A second set would be very helpful for prose, NPOV, and the whole shabang. Hope you can help.Regards rueben_lys (talk · contribs) 23:16, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

You wrote:

I don't understand why you have tagged this article as an advertisement. The article is truely encylopedic with references from third party authentic news sources like economic times, times of india, business standard and much more.

I agree that the article is generally balanced, and probably should not have tagged the entire article. Apologies.

Please point out a single statement which is an ad.

However, the sentence. "Atul Nishar, the founder of Hexaware, started Aptech computer education in 1984 becoming India's top IT education provider along with NIIT" is referenced, but the reference doesn't suppor the claim that Atul Nishar became India's top IT education provider. The advert tag was and is appropriate if limited to the section. Please see if you can edit the text to sound less like PR. Bongomatic (talk) 04:27, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but you should have contacted me before copy-pasting this text into the article outside the Wikipedia userspace. I (and not only I) had some reasons not to recreate the article (it's not ready yet and I'm working on it).

I believe that what you've done counts as a copyvio (you didn't mention the source used as requested by GNU FDL - "the authors of the work must be attributed"). Please, don't do that again. Thanks for your comprehension in advance. --Yuriy Lapitskiy ~ 17:05, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Db-histmerge of Igor Pavlov (Computer programmer)

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to move User:Yuriybrisk/Proposed article for Igor Pavlov (programmer) by copying its content and pasting it into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is considered undesirable because it splits the page history which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at the cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you.

Your recent edit to Hyderabad article

Hi. I just noticed you removing the panoramic image from Hyderabad article and the associated edit summary. Just a word of unsolicited suggestion - please reduce your tone and be more polite while suggesting to other editors. I'd noticed this image yesterday itself and I'd politely asked about this to be removed on his talk page. I was awaiting his response for the same. I hope you take this suggestion in the right spirit :)

Btw, how's it been going? We haven't corresponded since the newsletter. Just about 20 days remain for the next release! :) Mspraveen (talk) 15:52, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for understanding. Yes, I certainly agree with your thoughts. But I've known this user to be particularly good at securing free images of several articles and he shouldn't be dejected with such comments. Since it is difficult to know who's doing a good job and not, it is best advised to treat all edits with respect. Of course, with vandals it is a different ball game! Trust me they are the ones we need to vent at! :) Okay, seems like you're having a ball with ITN. Maybe I'll explore that section too sometime. Cheers and keep rocking!
