Making pages about your family[edit]

Please do not publish any more articles about subjects you have a COI with into article space. For one, you have a conflict of interest. Secondly, the page on Patrica Crass Ford was one of the worst pieces of junk I have seen on Wikipedia. We are here to make pages on notable subjects. Please familiarize yourself with WP:Notability.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 16:17, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ThatMontrealIP I feel your speech is offensive: "Patrica Crass Ford was one of the worst pieces of junk I have seen on Wikipedia." I understand your feeling that I have a COI with my subjects. I would like to work within the Wikipedia guidelines and improve what I have written. I feel the subjects I have chosen are noteworthy because they have had interesting lives, have made important contributions, and have significant and unusual aspects of their lives, which is supported by primary as well as secondary sources. I have signed a COI Declaration on my user page. Perhaps we can work toegether to add noteworthy articles. Greg Henderson 17:40, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
There is a discussion of your edits at COIN, see the link below. ThatMontrealIP (talk) 17:48, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Signature links[edit]

I've noticed that your signature does not have a link to your talk, user or contributions page. Are you making your signature manually? Per WP:SIGLINK: "Signatures must include at least one direct internal link to your user page, user talk page, or contributions page; this allows other editors easy access to your talk page and contributions log. The lack of such a link is widely viewed as obstructive." Back in 2018 you were also advised of the same issue. Please add a link if you are using a custom signature, or use the four ~ symbols as described in previous advice.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 03:58, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ThatMontrealIP I sometimes use the toolbar and click on the signature icon. Is this what you mean? How do you add the links to the the signature? --Greg Henderson 23:04, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Your signature above has no link in it. Can't you read the signature page that has been linked on this page and mentioned to you before? Are you playing games here? Quit screwing around. It's getting fucking tiring.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 00:58, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
And I say that because you have been here for over a decade and created over a dozen reasonably well formatted articles. It strains credulity to believe that you do not know how to sign your signature properly. I can only assume that you are yanking our chains at this point. Read the linked page above if you do not know how to sign your signature.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 01:05, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
ThatMontrealIP Let's be polite :) I was just pointing out that if I use the toolbar and click on the signature link I get: --Greg Henderson 01:15, 8 July 2020 (UTC), with no link. However, if I manually paste it in, I get this: Greg Henderson (talk) 17:10, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Greghenderson2006 check that the signature field in Special:Preferences is completely empty and contains no spaces, etc. Sometimes that is the cause of unexpected behavior; it has happened to me. 12:14, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
ThatMontrealIP I made the change you suggested and now it is working, Thanks!--Greg Henderson (talk) 15:50, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

July 2020[edit]

Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. Please stop editing the article on your mother. I am unsure why you are ignoring our COI policy. ThatMontrealIP (talk) 15:17, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was just replying to the message: "Feel free to improve the article" by added a needed citation. I have no dispute, other than to improve the article with sources. I am happy to discontinue this and wait for the deletion review. Greg Henderson (talk)
A number of editors have told you to stop editing articles on your family, but you have continnued You have caused a lot of work for us as we have to look through your contributions to check them. You have refused to join the COIN discussion. This kind of behaviour isn't acceptable here.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 15:34, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Please look at your tone. I am happy to follow the rules. Not sure why you are checking all my contributions at this time. They have been around for a while. I am happy to join the COIN discussion, but not sure where it is. I believe my behavior is rational but I am willing to improve it. Please have patient with me. Greg Henderson (talk)
You have be pointed to the discusson already, above.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 15:45, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident with which you may be involved. Thank you. ThatMontrealIP (talk) 16:31, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you have something to add about your COI then please place it on the COIN discussion above, not on my user page. Editing other user's user pages is in general not allowable.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 17:34, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the info. I thought "talk" next to your user tag meant to put discussion there. --Greg Henderson 17:43, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
Word of advice. It may be possible to add the material you want to add, but this is by requested edits and not the way you are doing it. Editors with a COI who directly add material to family pages usually end up blocked from editing, in my experience. Please come to the COIN discussion to explain which pages you have edited and your COI.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 17:46, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This is a very strong encouragement to join the discussion about your conflict of interest at Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest/Noticeboard#Greghenderson2006. If you continue to edit while ignoring the conflict of interest guidelines, you may be blocked. GeneralNotability (talk) 15:27, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, this COI is somewhat new to me. I need to learn more about it and how to make safe edits without COI. I have joined the COID.Greg Henderson (talk)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Carmel Valley Airport requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://copyvios.toolforge.org/?lang=en&project=wikipedia&title=Carmel+Valley+Airport&oldid=&action=search&use_engine=1&use_links=1&turnitin=0. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. COI editing and obfuscating edits[edit]

BY now you should know that only very minor factual edits by COI editors are allowed; the rest go by request edit. Adding "he was one of the richest (physicians)" to an article is not a minor edit. You also should be very careful marking edits like that "m (Minor addition of citation requested.)" as that is plainly not a minor edit when you include puffery like that about family members. Reverted. ThatMontrealIP (talk) 00:00, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, it was a quote from an article. In fact, he was rich. --Greg Henderson (talk) 00:03, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No doubt, but you have a COI, so request edit. ThatMontrealIP (talk) 00:05, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
