A tag has been placed on File:EcosystemInfographic DeafCommunity+(1).jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://www.convorelay.com/sc-intro-what-is-the-deaf-ecosystem-and-why-should-i-care. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Image uploads[edit]

Hi - it looks like you uploaded images that were held under a fairly restrictive copyright that didn't allow for images to be freely copied, altered, or distributed (even for commercial purposes). Most images found on the Internet won't be compatible with Wikipedia's requirements for images, as images would need to fall into one of roughly two areas to be used on Wikipedia:

  • The image has to be held under a license that would allow people to freely use, adapt, and share the image, even if their intent is to sell the image or greatly adapt it from its original format. Most creators or copyright holders want to be able to control who uses or changes their work, so they will copyright it as "all rights reserved". Sometimes, however, someone will be OK with someone using or changing their work but not want someone to profit off of it, so it's important to make sure to check that the copyright also allows for commercial use.
  • Sometimes we can use an image if it falls under the fair use guidelines. In order to do this we'd have to establish that the image/work is so vitally important to the understanding of the article that leaving it out would be detrimental. The catch here, however, is that in most cases images are not seen as vital. Fair use is really only used in articles that are about a specific creative work, such as an article about a book, film, artwork, or comic book character. Even then the requirements are fairly strict.

In this situation you also didn't have any information about the copyright status and how it would fit into one of these two areas. Both of the images looked to be held under restrictive copyrights and neither looked like they would fall into fair use territory either. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:35, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
