Question[edit]

I wanted to check to see if these edits were yours [[1]]. I want to stress I'm only asking because I assume you were just making quick edits while logged out and there is nothing wrong with that. I just want to make sure I don't need to ping the IP editor as well. Springee (talk) 13:48, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Antisemitism in Getúlio Vargas[edit]

Hello. Recently, you added Getúlio Vargas to the antisemitism sidebar and put the template on his Wikipedia page. May I ask why? Vargas's page is a work-in-progress, so some details are bound to be missing. As a result, I tried looking on the Portuguese Wikipedia (a better established Wikipedia on Vargas and his era) to see if there was any mention of him displaying antisemitic stances, yet all I could find was that the Cohen Plan was an antisemitic document; essentially, nothing details Vargas and antisemitism.

I may be misinformed, but I am just wondering if you have any sources to back your edits that Vargas was antisemitic. You added the category "Politicide perpetrators" to Vargas's page, too, but I see no outstanding evidence proving this either. The only piece of evidence that states Vargas was antisemitic was his government's denial of Jewish refugees, but that itself is attributed to a wide variety of people throughout the Vargas Era. In your edit summaries, you rationalize describing persons as antisemitic (example: "General Motors executives collaborated with Adolf Hitler's Germany during World War II, so how could they not be anti-Semitic"). By this definition, it should be recognized that Vargas led Brazil into World War II against Adolf Hitler. Finally, you added the category "Anti-Christian sentiment in South America" which doesn't make sense based off of the "Religious" section of the article. I might be wrong, but please explain. Thank you, and have a good day. FredModulars (talk) 14:01, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

FredModulars, I have a similar concern. The antisemitism sidebar person's list was expanded by the IP and Harry Cousins today. I think these are really questionable additions and should be reversed. Springee (talk) 14:14, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Springee: I agree, too. I only feel it is necessary the revisions be explained if Harry Cousins/the IP choose to do so. FredModulars (talk) 14:46, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
FredModulars, my feeling is wait 24hr for a reply. If no reply after 24hr revert per no consensus. Springee (talk) 16:23, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have already reverted. Consensus is required to add such a contentious (and apparently evidence-free) statement, not to remove it. RolandR (talk) 17:01, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
