Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Jackson_publick.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 15:13, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Introducing errors into The Prestige (film)

Viriditas (talk) 23:59, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, passive aggression is always welcome. Hazelfo (talk) 10:02, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
All information in this encyclopedia must be verifiable in a reliable, published source. There is nothing "passive aggressive" about it. Viriditas (talk) 10:45, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Yes, and watch the film is a valid, published source. I thought I was correct. I see now that I'm not. I wasn't vandalizing any page or providing invalid sources. Hazelfo (talk) 10:49, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, it isn't a valid source for disputed content. That's why we rely on secondary sources. The film is a primary source. Here's the thing: Why would Borden risk getting caught trying to figure out Angier's secret if he already knew it? See? Your theory doesn't make sense. Viriditas (talk) 11:07, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Because he didn't think that Angier would have the nerve to keep killing the duplicates? I don't know. I still think it's too much of a coincidence for Borden to write an entire diary cipher based on the name 'Tesla' and claim the key to his secret is 'Tesla' when Tesla does in fact have a duplicating machine. Hazelfo (talk) 12:07, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Borden never knew about the trick, and he never understood how Angier did it. That's why he stole away backstage to check, but Angier knew and set him up for the murder of his double. As for the cipher, Borden attended the UK exhibition along with Angier, so they were both introduced to Tesla's work. The reason Borden used Tesla as a cipher is because Borden is just like Tesla, natural in their skill, but poor in marketing their work. Cutter explains this right after Angier sees Borden's new act with his twin for the first time. Cutter sees right through it, explaining to Angier that it's a dobule, but Angier refuses to believe it. Same thing when Borden and Angier went to see the Chinese magician. Borden figured out the trick immediately, but Angier couldn't wrap his mind around it. Hazelfo, you are confusing the thematic parallels between characters with narrative and plot. Borden and Fallon are natural twins; They don't know Tesla. Angier is convinced, like you, that Borden does, but he's constantly misleading himself throughout the film. Even though Angier thinks Tesla has made the machine before, Tesla says he didn't, and even his assistant says the same thing. But, like you, Angier doesn't listen. You keep missing out on the natural ability of Borden vs. the Angier the performer. The fact that the twins are natural is embedded in the story, and is adapted from the book. Do you understand? Borden and Fallon do not rely on any technology or performance gimmicks to accomplish their illusions. However, that is exactly what Angier relies upon. Understand? Viriditas (talk) 12:52, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Wow, are you actually comparing me to a fictional character because I moderately disagree with you? Nevermind that I already admitted that I was wrong, right? And clearly because I moderately disagree with you - or at least entertain the idea of a different theory - I just didn't watch or pay attention to the film. I didn't miss anything, and I don't need you to explain the film to me. I watched it too. Just because you're the film's wikipedia page watchdog doesn't give you license to be a presumptuous, condescending jerk. Stop it. Hazelfo (talk) 12:53, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Actually, on the article talk page you are still insisting that "nothing you've pointed out disrupts the possibility that Borden was duplicated", which is utter bunk. Viriditas (talk) 12:58, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Oh no, someone is wrong on the internet, better be a jerk about it and quick, before your reputation is ruined. Hazelfo (talk) 12:59, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
I think it is pretty obvious who is being a "jerk". Viriditas (talk) 13:00, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
So do I. The examples you gave were pretty poor for your argument, and your methods are rude and condescending - I've since watched the film again and come to my own conclusions. Again, if you had politely explained why I was wrong this wouldn't have cluttered either talk page. Hazelfo (talk) 13:02, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
You're very confused. You called a template warning "passive aggressive" and a polite explanation about your edits, "rude and condescending". Seriously, take a break. Viriditas (talk) 13:03, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
You're confused if you actually think you were being polite, or that you're being polite now. It is also fairly passive aggressive to tell someone to have sources for a description of a film's plot and to call them a vandal for reverting one edit. Hazelfo (talk) 13:10, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
A little bit of a "clue" for you, friend: A template message cannot be "passive aggressive". It was merely warning you of your poor behavior and informing you how to correct it. Since you have completely failed to understand why you need a sources for an interpretation of a film's plot that deviates from those found in reliable sources, you may require a larger clue stick to be applied in the future. Consider this a warning. Good day. Viriditas (talk) 13:17, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Wow, and I'm the jerk? Seriously, give it up and get off my talk page. Good day to you and your completely unenforceable "warning". Troll. So much for the rules, huh? Hazelfo (talk) 13:19, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
