Speedy deletion of 陈竺[edit]

A tag has been placed on 陈竺, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

Image without license[edit]

Unspecified source for Image:Roeder.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Roeder.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:34, 16 July 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 19:34, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright concerns[edit]

Hello. With respect to some of the images you have uploaded, I wanted to make you aware that in addition to acknowledging the source, you need also to verify permission. Take Image:Roeder.1204218436.gif, for example. This is drawn from a website, here, with a clear copyright notice. In order to use this picture, we need verification of permission from Rockefeller. There is information here about how to obtain permission and what to do once you have. Wikipedia's policy on images of living persons is that a freely licensed image must be used. As the policy says, "Non-free content is used only where no free equivalent is available, or could be created, that would serve the same encyclopedic purpose." When a person is living, there is always the chance that somebody could take a photograph and grant Wikipedia use of it.

If you are able to verify permission for the images you've supplied of this individual, please do. We need permission for the one above and for Image:Roeder.jpg, which is drawn from the scientist but asserts ownership to Rockefeller.

With regards to Image:Nm938-F2.jpg, you indicate that you own the copyright, but you do not indicate the source. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged. If you took the picture, then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:51, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding lists of people to this article. 1) It's about the man, not the institution and 2) Wikipedia is not a directory. --NeilN talkcontribs 03:38, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As you may know, "Prominent Alumni of the laboratory" is an important achievement of a scientist/mentor, as well as his major discoveries. It is not a directory, and it should not only include those have an entry in the WP! -- Hbbio

Please see WP:NOTABILITY. You must prove the notability of these people. And, again, the article is about the main, not the institution. If you persist in adding this listing I will ask for a third opinion whereupon the listing will probably be deleted. --NeilN talkcontribs 05:07, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
