Arkansas information[edit]
Hi Hector, with regard to information about the Arkansas graduate program it really depends on what you want to focus on in the field of history. Arkansas' program is best known for Southern history, though it does have some individual stand out professors in other fields, such as Elliot West, who ironically specializes in the American West. If you're very motivated to make the field of history your profession, then you'll want to go to a graduate program which specializes in the area you want to work in. Use that as your initial standard of judgment. After that, I'd use expense and accessibility (do you have the grades to get in?).
That said, I was completely satisfied with my experience at Arkansas in a field of history that the school has no specification other than one professor. I feel all the professors are generally good quality, and most make themselves accessible to students when needed.
