Please help plot summary for Spinning Boris

Hey Josh. Hey man im Metro-2 FSB.

This is an imbd synopsis rewritten by me: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinning_Boris

Does this meet Wikipedia's extremely strong rules?

In early 1996, three Republican campaign operatives take a secret job to assist Boris Yeltsin's reelection. Once in Moscow, they learn Yeltsin is polling at 6% against the communists with the election only a few months away. They decide to vote on whether to stay. Dick Dresner wants to go home, George Gorton and Joe Shumate vote to stay in Moscow. They get the attention of Yeltsin's daughter. They then start to do polling, focus groups, messaging, and spin. Yeltsin's poll numbers begin to go up. The three men are unsure who hired them. They do not know whether Yeltsin's allies want him to win.[1]

Hey @Metro2fsb, generally speaking, plots don't actually require sourcing. For reference though, IMDB is generally not considered a reliable source. WP:RS/IMDB Hey man im josh (talk) 12:22, 30 January 2023 (UTC)

External links adding

Hey , i just add an external link on yellowstone page, you remove this. But i tell you it not for promotion. I add a valuable contribution to get more information about yellowstone tv series. Nokabir01 (talk) 18:19, 30 January 2023 (UTC)

Hello @Nokabir01, please don't add external links to the body of an article. That's not typically considered proper. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:23, 30 January 2023 (UTC)

Explain yourself

Explain yourself. Therapyisgood (talk) 15:59, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

Hey @Therapyisgood, for future reference, "explain yourself" can mean quite a few things, so it's best to WP:AGF and expand a bit further than "explain yourself" when asking a question on someone's page. I'll assume you're asking why some replies were removed. The answer is that I made a mistake and replied to a previous version of the AfD, accidently removing several replies (including my original !vote). Thankfully BeanieFan11 has fixed this and, in doing so, made sure not to re-add my original !vote, as that might have then looked like I was trying to vote twice. Prisoner B-3087

This is an article creared by a ne editor; they blanked the page because they thought that what they had done was poor. I've restored the contend, so removing your speedy tag. I Think in such cases it is always worth looking at the page history.TheLongTone (talk) 13:34, 1 February 2023 (UTC)

BTW did you do this using Twinkle? Whatever, there was no notification of the speedy on the author's talk page,.TheLongTone (talk) 13:38, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
Hey @TheLongTone, I did look at the page history in this case. But WP:G7 states; If the sole author blanks a page other than a userspace page, a category page, or any type of talk page, this can be taken as a deletion request. The author blanked the page, which is why I added the tag. They also posted on the talk page of the article stating that they were getting rid of it. New users wouldn't know to add the tag, so I did, as it appears their intention is to delete the page. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:41, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
Well the book looks like it may well be notable, I've done a minor tidy & added a reference. Imo this editor needs encouragement!TheLongTone (talk) 13:44, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
That's fine if you want to work on the article, I have no issue whatsoever with that and I appreciate your contribution. With that said, I must say that I think my G7 tag was appropriate. I believe this is pretty much the situation that G7 tags are meant for, pages that an author blanks themselves. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:50, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) There are a few CSD criteria where Twinkle doesn't post a talk page notification and I'm sure that G7 is one of them because Twinkle assumes that if an editor has blanked an article/draft page, it's a sign that they want the page deleted and they don't need to receive a notice. I think G6 and G8 are others as well. I'd prefer that Twinkle always post a notification no matter what the criteria but the Twinkle developers have their own opinions and they get a lot of editor feedback as well. Liz Read! Talk! 21:03, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
@Liz I missed responding to that point so thanks for replying to it. There should be an option in the Twinkie preferences that may just not be enabled by default, so I'll take a look when I'm back on my PC. Hey man im josh (talk) 22:05, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
It's actually not an option in the Twinkle preferences to notify editors for G7 or G8 tags. It is however an option for G6. Today I learned. Hey man im josh (talk) 01:58, 2 February 2023 (UTC)

U.S or U.S.

Hi Josh. I may be wrong, but isn't it supposed to be spelled "U.S." rather than the "U.S" (without the second .) you're adding to the infoboxes? BeanieFan11 (talk) 17:20, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

Oh no... I was working on testing with AWB and I apparently had a typo. I'll go through and fix my mistake now, glad you made me aware of it before I got too far in. Thanks Beanie! Hey man im josh (talk) 17:21, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
Also, make sure if the person is no longer living, to add the "U.S." in the death_place parameter as well (because now a few articles, such as Andy Everest, list "U.S" in the birth_place but not the death_place). BeanieFan11 (talk) 17:29, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
That was something I wanted to do, but this was more or less an initial test run with AWB focused on 1 specific parameter (birth_place). I think it'll need some tweaking before I'm comfortable with it though. If and when I do get to that point I'll definitely tweak it so that I can also cover the death_place parameter as well.
Thanks again for letting me know @BeanieFan11, I went back and fixed all the affected pages. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:35, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

User talk:Mouseketeerlonnie

Hi Hey man im Josh. This is Diane. aka Floomerfelt. I edit Lonnie Burr's page and am connecting with you to let you know he didn't intend anything negative. He is 100% a not-into-computers guy, who apparently decided to try something on his own. I'm not even sure what it was he did! I'm still trying to get smart enough to add all of the necessary footnotes to verify the information's accuracy. But while I'm a whiz at Word, Google and some fundraising programs, Wikipedia footnotes protocol still has me stumped. Maybe it's because I'm almost 78?? Anyway, Sorry for the confusion and if there is something Lonnie did by accident that needs to be undone, just let me know how and I will handle it. Thanks, Josh. Floomerfelt (talk) 23:35, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Floomerfelt, I can't recall what was on the page before I tagged it for deletion, and I'm not an admin so I cannot see deleted content. It's not a big deal that their user page was deleted, it just means that it contains content that should not have been on their user page. It may be a page written like a resume, the page might be just a link to a personal website, or it may be using the page as a blog of sorts, all of which you should not do. It's hard to say without remembering what was on the page, but they haven't been punished in any way. The warning left on their page should link to the relevant information on the subject.
As for getting used to Wikipedia, don't be afraid to make mistakes but try not to keep making the same mistakes. Listen to feedback given and be willing to ask questions at WP:HELPDESK, there are plenty of helpful people there that will point you in the right direction. The long and the short of Wikipedia editing is include sources for information, write in a neutral without fluff, assume good faith of your fellow editors, and do not edit promotionally. New Pages Patrol newsletter January 2023

Hello Hey man im josh,

New Page Review queue December 2022
Backlog

The October drive reduced the backlog from 9,700 to an amazing 0! Congratulations to WaddlesJP13 who led with 2084 points. See this page for further details. The queue is steadily rising again and is approaching 2,000. It would be great if <2,000 were the “new normal”. Please continue to help out even if it's only for a few or even one patrol a day.

2022 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2022 cup for 28,302 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 80/day. There was one Gold Award (5000+ reviews), 11 Silver (2000+), 28 Iron (360+) and 39 more for the 100+ barnstar. Rosguill led again for the 4th year by clearing 49,294 redirects. For the full details see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone!

Minimum deletion time: The previous WP:NPP guideline was to wait 15 minutes before tagging for deletion (including draftification and WP:BLAR). Due to complaints, a consensus decided to raise the time to 1 hour. To illustrate this, very new pages in the feed are now highlighted in red. (As always, this is not applicable to attack pages, copyvios, vandalism, etc.)

New draftify script: In response to feedback from AFC, the The Move to Draft script now provides a choice of set messages that also link the creator to a new, friendly explanation page. The script also warns reviewers if the creator is probably still developing the article. The former script is no longer maintained. Please edit your edit your common.js or vector.js file from User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js to User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft.js

Redirects: Some of our redirect reviewers have reduced their activity and the backlog is up to 9,000+ (two months deep). If you are interested in this distinctly different task and need any help, see this guide, this checklist, and spend some time at WP:RFD.

Discussions with the WMF The PageTriage open letter signed by 444 users is bearing fruit. The Growth Team has assigned some software engineers to work on PageTriage, the software that powers the NewPagesFeed and the Page Curation toolbar. WMF has submitted dozens of patches in the last few weeks to modernize PageTriage's code, which will make it easier to write patches in the future. This work is helpful but is not very visible to the end user. For patches visible to the end user, volunteers such as Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have been writing patches for bug reports and feature requests. The Growth Team also had a video conference with the NPP coordinators to discuss revamping the landing pages that new users see.

Error?

Hello. I believe your revert on Jacob Steinmetz just now was in error. Your edit summary bears no relation to your revert. 65.88.88.62 (talk) 16:53, 13 February 2023 (UTC)

Hello, I think you may have been trying to add a reference but you added a site URL in a format that is consistent with external links. I'd recommend you check out Help:Referencing for beginners. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:57, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
You said that I added an external link. But I did not. That was simply not true. I added a reference, in one of various formats that are used, that was clearly a ref to text, and not in the external links section. I would ask that you self revert. Deletion was not appropriate. It does nothing to improve Wikipedia. P--65.88.88.62 (talk) 18:04, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
Square brackets are typically used to link to items on Wikipedia or for creating external links, which your link was placed inside of. Based on the diff of your edit, it is shown as an external link and not as a reference. You are welcome to add the information back using the appropriate reference format, which includes the use of ref tags, as shown at Help:Introduction to referencing with Wiki Markup/2, but I will not be self reverting. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:18, 13 February 2023 (UTC)

Vandalism suggestion

Thank you for your suggestion to test mediawiki exploit vandalism in the sandbox. However, for some reason, I can’t redirect the sandbox, so I have to resort to vandalizing mainspace pages. Thanks anyways, 174.240.191.122 (talk) 16:21, 15 February 2023 (UTC)

You absolutely do not need to resort to that and if you do continue to vandalize pages you may end up banned. I'd also expect someone testing to be on a registered account, not as an IP address. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:24, 15 February 2023 (UTC)

Casablanca Airport Med V citations

Hey Josh, I'm the person that has been editing the Casablanca Airport page. Look, of course I understand where you're coming from with the citations. I agree very much that referencing content is a fundamental thing on a Wiki page, but in the field of airline destinations that is just very hard to do sometimes. In Casablanca's case, I have removed a lot more than I added in terms of routes. If I take Flynas for example, flying to Jeddah, there are plenty of sources online that announce the route, but if I go on the Flynas website it becomes pretty clear there are no more direct flights between the two cities. What is then the right thing to do here? Should I include a source that links to the Flynas website? Because that is pretty vague as well. There are plenty of other examples, such as S7 to Mosocow, RAM to Beijing, Saudia to Medina etc.. How can anything ever be removed if airlines hardly give official statements for discontinuing flights? In terms of new routes, I do my best to provide sources (such as with Air Côte d'Ivoire to Abidjan), and I can understand you are a bit more skeptical. Still though, a source may not tell the whole story: a seasonal flight can become a permanent flight, routes may start later than originally planned (see the flight to Alexandria). If I look on any big airport wiki, there really aren't hundreds of sources next to every single destination in order to verify that they indeed run the route. So I understand you, but the alternative is staying with a horrendously outdated destinations page with sources from 2017 and 2018, only because you dogmatically have to provide external sources that the route is run. Is there a way to find a compromise in this topic? 81.173.79.58 (talk) 15:16, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

I may not actually be the best person to ask this question to, as you're getting into specific situations that I don't have a lot of experience in and I don't want to steer you wrong. I think you'll get better, more informed answers if you ask at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Airports which is a sub project of Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation. Those are where the experts on these types of articles are at. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:28, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
Okay I will ask there, but then I don't really understand why you're acting like you do know how it works in the revisions page. I've edited more airport pages in the past without much objection by others in terms of sources. If it really is the way as you make it out to be, 1) there should be hundreds of sources on every single airport wiki, and 2) I would have received feedback a long time ago about how that is a bad practice. 81.173.79.58 (talk) 16:32, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
Everything that's added to an article should be verifiable, plain and simple, and it was clear from a lack of citations that it was not. I'm pointing you in that direction because they'll be familiar with the best sources available to construct this type of content. How would you know that nobody has given feedback if you're using a dynamic IP address? There may have been a message left for you at a talk page and you could be unaware of it. This is why it's beneficial to register an account, so that users can communicate with you in a central location. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:36, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Airports/page_content#Airlines_and_destinations
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Airports/Archive_17#Referencing
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Airports/Archive_18#It_is_indeed_time_to_get_rid_of_all_the_Airline_&_Destination_tables
Here they talk about destinations going to be serviced and going to be terminated in the future. In these cases I completely understand the need for sourcing. However, when it comes to routes that have already been discontinued long ago, along with routes that have already existed for a while, for me it doesn't really make sense to not update any of them only because there is no secondary source. The flight to Nouadhibou by Mauritania Airlines hasn't flown for years as far as I can see (https://www.mauritaniaairlines.mr/index.php/vols/reseau-de-la-compagnie). Why let it stay on the wiki? 81.173.79.58 (talk) 17:14, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

Regarding recent summaries on WP:ANI

You should review the difference between a ban and a block. See WP:BLOCKBANDIFF. In the 2 or 3 summaries where you stated it was a ban, it would have been at least if not more correct to say that it was a block. Izno (talk) 05:37, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

@Izno thank you for the reaching out with the feedback, I appreciate it as I only recently started closing discussions. I understand the difference but I had been using the terms interchangeably when I should not have. I'll use the proper terminology moving forward. Fritz Neumayr

Hey man im josh - Fritz Neumayr played professional soccer in the top league at the time in the Gauliga and played in the top flight 1931 German football championship and was the captain of his team. That would qualify him for notability.

I included the reference to his other team just to prove that he did play for them. You may not see why it is necessary, but multiple people on here would love to get their name on the page by slapping the "lack of sources" message for missing that.

I think we also need to keep in mind here that:

1) This is 1930's Germany where the internet did not exist yet, so there's not going to be ESPN articles on him, yet alone videos or photos like there would be Messi.

2) I don't speak German, which limits search results. I can't go try to see if there's some old german newspaper archive where I could search this up.

3) We are limited by book availability. No one in the US can go to the library and check out various German soccer books for free. I currently have a book from Germany on the way to settle other German soccer arguments, however it cost me $70 and it will take weeks to come. I have no doubt that I could order a book from here - https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/TSV_1860_M%C3%BCnchen#Einzelnachweise and prove he was written about, but it's not really worth $30-$70 to me to do it and as it stands, the article will be long gone by the time that book would come. If you'd like to contribute to purchasing a book for this, I'd be happy to put the order in.

4) He was a defender. Defenders don't really appear in statlines since they don't really score or assist on goals or try to save goals.

KatoKungLee (talk) 18:37, 22 February 2023 (UTC)

Hey @KatoKungLee, thanks for reaching out. I understand the difficulty with establishing notability for someone who played a sport in the 20s and 30s, I've faced a similar issue with American football players. I don't believe that being the captain of a team inherently makes a person notable. The reference you included that was not a sports database also only included a passing mention of Fritz. We need to be able to show that significant coverage exists for a player or that they have a claim to notability. Participation (games played) is not enough to establish notability for soccer players and, at the end of the day, every article's subject must be able to pass WP:GNG. Also, if I'm reading this correctly, Fritz only ended up playing 6 games. Based on similar articles being nominated at AfD in the past I question whether notability can be demonstrated, but I do appreciate your efforts in content creation and communication. Hey man im josh (talk) 19:05, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
I should have pointed here in my last comment actually, but see WP:SPORTCRIT. Hey man im josh (talk) 19:13, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
Playing a professional game makes you notable for the football section of the site - Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Fully professional leagues. People like Clifton McNeely who never actually played a first division professional game have articles on here. He played on TSV 1860 Munich which played in the first division Gauliga and the 1931 German football championship.
It is extremely unlikely that Fritz would have been made captain for playing 6 games in 11 years. I think we can clearly agree that the sites likely just had limited information. However, one game would make him notable regardless.
I can go bother the german wikipedia crew if you'd like to try and see if someone is willing to go through a book and find a paragraph on him - https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/TSV_1860_M%C3%BCnchen#Einzelnachweise. It kind of seems silly to do that though when we know he played professional games for a top flight team while others who didn't already have articles here. I'd also be willing to accept a donation for help in purchasing one of the books. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KatoKungLee (talkcontribs) 19:34, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
Hi @KatoKungLee. Could you please point me to anywhere in the notability guidelines where it states that playing in a single game of a professional sports league makes a person notably? I believe that the participation-based notably standard was removed with the passing of proposal 3 at WP:NSPORTS2022. As for Clifton McNeely, he was first overall pick in the first draft of what became the NBA, which is pretty clearly notable and comes with a boatload of significant coverage. Is there someone else by a similar name that you possibly meant to link to?
An article must demonstrate notably, not lean on the reader to infer that sources are incomplete or that they likely exist. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:17, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

NFLINFOBOXNOT

I noticed at J. T. Barrett you removed from the infobox several awards, citing NFLINFOBOXNOT. While I agree the "offensive bowl game mvp" should not be added, I'm not seeing what says major conference-wide awards such as the Greise-Brees QBOTY are not to be added. Let me know if I'm wrong. BeanieFan11 (talk) 19:59, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

You know what, you're right @BeanieFan11. I'm wrong on this so I appreciate you reaching out and stopping me from making further mistakes! Another reminder of why it's important to re-read guidelines even when you feel you're familiar with them. I must have synthesized a couple of different points and came to the conclusion that the scope of conference specific awards fit the spirit of what to leave out, but that's not something I should be deciding on my own. I restored the QB and freshman of the year entries to Barrett's page, though I did not re-add the Chicago Tribune's Silver football award. I cannot find where a discussion I had took place about the silver football award (searched archives at the NFL WP) so I won't object if you want that added back as well.
I do think we may need to consider this at some point though based on how bloated infoboxes are becoming. At the very least I think it'd be helpful to list these accolade with a more understandable and consistent naming scheme, similar to how Jabrill Peppers has his conference awards listed. IP editor

Hi Josh. I wonder if you could have a look at the changes made by IP editor 60.88.113.10? I have no idea about basketball players and I don't have time to verify all the changes, made with no citation or edit summary. There was another one making similar changes a week or two ago, who I think was eventually blocked by an admin, but I don't remember who. Thanks. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 09:09, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

Hey @Laterthanyouthink, I looked into it and I found a couple of IP ranges that I think might be the same editor based on their edit history:
60.85.49.0/20 (block range · block log (global) · WHOIS (partial))
60.88.112.0/21 (block range · block log (global) · WHOIS (partial))
There was a 1 month block for the first IP range with a summary of Persistent addition of unsourced content. I think that's the one that you're referring to. It looks like Engr. Smitty is likely aware of the issue, as they've reverted these IPs quite a few times. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:03, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for following up - much appreciated. I see that you have tagged Engr. Smitty so hopefully they will be able to act based on their prior experience with this person. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 21:05, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
Hey @Laterthanyouthink, note that I didn't actually ping them, I used the noping template. Hey man im josh (talk) 21:06, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
Oh, I see, and see that they are not currently doing much editing, so perhaps best to leave them alone for now. I don't know what further I can do as I'm not an admin and currently only editing erratically myself owing to real-life busyness. Oh well. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 10:22, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
@Laterthanyouthink: You could start a thread at WP:AN/I or report the range at WP:AIV after some warnings, noting that there's a history. An admin may then proceed to ban them for a longer period of time if they're continually being disruptive. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:47, 24 February 2023 (UTC)

With regards to the proposed deletions to the fox Creek Tributaries. Do what I did in moving the content to the main Creek and making a redirect if you really want to help Wikipedia, instead of deleting the information all together.

Redirects

How is that you just find redirects to review? Or is it that you just come across them over time? Is there a way to sort by just those? Now that I have the NPP perm (on trial for another week or so.. then hopefully it is made permanent), I'd like to help in what ways that I can. TY Moops T 22:03, 25 February 2023 (UTC)

Hey @Moops. You can start anywhere but it's usually recommended to start at the back of the queue, as we'd always like the backlog to be as as close to today's date as we can get it. You can sort by new if you'd like as well, but it's better to leave redirects that aren't 15 minutes old yet. I mention that because DannyS712 bot III automatically reviews redirects for users on the redirect autopatrol list.
You can set a range that you'd like to look through and you can search by user. Searching by user is often helpful when you find a few redirects by somebody and want to see if they've created others. I myself do this often because I find it more efficient to review a single user's redirects when they've created quite a few of them. They'll often be on the same subject, the same style, or have some similarity that makes it easier for me to figure out whether it's a good redirect or not. Give it a shot, ask questions on Discord if you're unsure (if you're still up for participating there), and members of the team will give their opinions on whether it's a valid redirect or not. Note that tagging pages with appropriate rcats is not mandatory, but it is something I like to do using WP:Capricorn. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:31, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
Great tips. TY kindly. Moops T 16:59, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for reviewing all my redirects to Government Degree College, Kalakote. But the article itself isn’t reviewed, my previous two articles have been reviewed within 2-3 days but it took almost a week. Can you please tell me that reviewing of a particular page is allotted to particular reviewer or anyone with review access can review it? Gorav Sharma‎ 💬 19:53, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

Hey @Gorav Sharma, the threshold for marking redirects as reviewed is much different than the threshold for articles, which is why a redirect will sometimes be reviewed before an article. When I'm looking at redirects I try to see whether they make sense, and in this case they did. Don't be worried if your article takes more than a few days to be reviewed. There is nobody assigned to specific articles, it's just anybody with review access. If your article has tags, such as a notability concern tag, then try to address is as best you can. Bahri (company)

Hello, I moved this page, as it was hacked by another user, who changed the page into his own company, with the same name. By renaming and moving the page such problem would not occur again. Please see at below: // Bahri Trading Corporation, is a Custom Clearance and Logistics Company of Pakistan, Bahri was established in 1978 with the aim of providing a comprehensive variety and choice of freight forwarding/logistics services in Pakistan. We hire only the best, most competent, motivated and dedicated logistics management experts and specialists which has enabled the company. 13:30, 10 February 2023‎ Waleedk06 talk contribs‎ 3,846 bytes −2,527‎ // Goodwillgames (talk) 16:34, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

@Goodwillgames: Hacked isn't the right way to put it, the page was hijacked. Moving it to Bahri (National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia) is also not the proper naming format for an article, as that's just the company's current name with its former name in the title. Until another page exists by the same time we should leave it at "(company)". Hey man im josh (talk) 16:38, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
And then, any user can revert it into another company, as that name is rather common, and there are other companies with such name. Goodwillgames (talk) 16:49, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
@Goodwillgames: Users are not allowed to hijack articles and change the content to an entirely different company. They are required to create a separate article. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:01, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

It was done. Please have a look at these versions. I had to revert them manually. It was changed to a local Pakistani freight forwarder Goodwillgames (talk) 19:28, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
@Goodwillgames: Yes, they were not supposed to do that. Their edits have been reverted. Hey man im josh (talk) 19:32, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
Reverted by me 17 days later. Unfortunately nobody else noticed that, and a serious article about a globally recognised company became an advertisement about a small local firm Goodwillgames (talk) 20:02, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
@Goodwillgames: The admins don't typically ban someone for not understanding they shouldn't hijack an article, unless they repeatedly do so. This is someone who likely didn't know better, it's been fixed, and so we should move on for now. If it happens again that's when escalation may be appropriate. New Article Redirect

Hi Josh, I wonder if you can help. I recently attempted to move a page from my Sandbox to create a new article and it redirects to the previous article I created. Is there a way to publish my new article without it being a redirect to the old page? New article is Johnny Reynolds (footballer). Redirects to Trevor Bumstead. Any guidance appreciated. Many thanks! EastLondonGooner (talk) 05:49, 26 February 2023 (UTC)

Hi @EastLondonGooner. It looks like you moved an existing redirect (your sandbox) to the main space under the title that you wanted to create an article at. I've requested the page be deleted since that redirect, in its current form, doesn't actually make sense. Once it's been deleted you should be able to move your article there without issue. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:45, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for taking time to investigate @Hey man im josh and clear response! The new article is currently in my sandbox. If I attempt to move it to the main space again, will I be able to do so under the same name or will I have to rename it after the speedy deletion? Thanks again EastLondonGooner (talk) 03:55, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
Hey @EastLondonGooner: I believe the target you're looking to move your sandbox article to is Johnny Reynolds (footballer), is that correct? If so, that's already been deleted which means you're free to move it to that location when you feel as though it's ready for the main space. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:41, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
Yes, that's the one. Thank you! EastLondonGooner (talk) 17:46, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

Some stroopwafels for you!

Hey, Josh, do you realize that we had 1,061 G13 eligible drafts to review over the past 36 hours? Our typical workload is around 150-225 expiring drafts/day so this was almost like a week's work in one day. Between several editors using AWB to do mass-editing of drafts back on August 28th and 3 extra days of the month, it was like the perfect storm for expiring drafts.

You made major progress tonight and I took care of a bunch more. But I'm sure there will still be some drafts left over to review on User:SDZeroBot/G13 eligible in the morning. Thank you so much for all of your work, it would have taken me days to get through all of them. Liz Read! Talk! 06:37, 1 March 2023 (UTC)

Okay, I decided to take the G13 eligible list, sort it alphabetically and of the remaining pages that were listed, deleted Draft:1-Draft:M drafts. So that leaves Draft:N-Draft:Z drafts and the User page drafts. But most of the pages listed were already deleted earlier today. Liz Read! Talk! 08:31, 1 March 2023 (UTC)
Stroopwafels seem delightful, thanks @Liz. I was thinking the same thing about it being a perfect storm but that's more drafts than I thought lol. We'll chip away at it and get there, as you said there's no rush. I'm happy to help, it wouldn't be fun having to manage it alone. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:53, 1 March 2023 (UTC)
All of August 31st is done by the way @Liz. Been keeping up with today's as well. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:50, 1 March 2023 (UTC)

New page reviewing

Hi my friend. I hope you are fine. I see that you mentioned me on the Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Redirect autopatrol list. Is there something that I should be doing that I’m not doing? If so, can you please offer your advice. I am committed to being useful to Wikipedia and I’m keen to learn more. Thanks so very much. Best regards, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 18:08, 6 March 2023 (UTC)

Hey @BoyTheKingCanDance: The mention at Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Redirect autopatrol list is a good thing and a compliment. You have a good track record when it comes to creating redirects and I'm recommending that the redirects that you create be automatically patrolled. It's a pseudoright meant to mimic the official autopatroll permission and it helps to reduce the redirect backlog at NPP. I very much appreciative your positive attitude, as not everybody seeks out constructive criticism, but I don't have any for you at this moment. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:18, 6 March 2023 (UTC)

Rollback : potentially problematic use

Hello Hey man im josh, if I may offer some friendly advice, it might be wise to apply a degree of caution when you use the Rollback feature. Your recent use of Rollback on Clone Trooper appears inappropriate and is not in line with Wikipedia:Rollback and the guidance given specifically:

@RossButsy: Are you talking about using rollback on this edit? Because that's not a problem.-- Ponyobons mots 00:24, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

@Ponyo: As you say. RossButsy (talk) 00:35, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

Hi @RossButsy: I do stand by that and believe it to have been appropriate use of rollback. I also very much appreciate Ponyo's comment on the issue.
They added the word "NO" and then 162 empty lines above the article text, I believe that fits the definition of vandalism. If you do not, that's fine, but it would still be considered appropriate use of rollback based on point 1 of WP:ROLLBACKUSE: To revert obvious vandalism and other edits where the reason for reverting is absolutely clear. I think the reason for reverting was absolutely obvious and no competent editor would restore it. I appreciate that you accepted Ponyo's feedback, but I wanted to point you to a relevant bit of text. Hey man im josh (talk) 00:53, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

No problem furthermore then. It just seemed a bit unnecessary on my end when a simple revert would have probably sufficed RossButsy (talk) 00:56, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

2023 nfl season

Why did you delete every signing? I have already spent 5 hours putting all of them in. Manny Manatee (talk) 18:21, 15 March 2023 (UTC)

@Manny Manatee, you are not meant to add every single signing, only the most notable. Please read the notes for the section. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:26, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
Yeah but you shouldn’t of deleted everything, only the ones that weren’t notable. Manny Manatee (talk) 18:30, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
@Manny Manatee, I did only delete the non-notable ones when you had initially left a message on my talk page. I reverted your last edits because you seemed to have duplicated everything in the article. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:39, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
I only duplicated the defensive tackle and linebacker signings. Manny Manatee (talk) 18:54, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
@Manny Manatee, see here for the duplicate content I'm referring to. Hey man im josh (talk) 19:05, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
Stop making stuff up, I was the one who originally wrote that. There was nothing there before I started, and also stop changing it to free agency starts on the 15th, it started two days ago on the 13th. Manny Manatee (talk) 19:18, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
@Manny Manatee, look at the link I provided... Nothing is being made up. You can see, based on the edit history, that you duplicated the content in the article. It's ok, mistakes happen, I was just explaining why it was removed.
You are incorrect regarding free agency starting on the 13th, that's when the legal tampering period started, not free agency. Please provide a source that states that free agency starts on the 13th instead of the 15th. Hey man im josh (talk) 19:33, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
Here's a link to the NFL's website that shows the 15th is when free agency starts. Hey man im josh (talk) 19:34, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
The article you showed says it starts on the 13th, it says trading and league year start on 15th. I just have a quick question, what team do you root for? Manny Manatee (talk) 19:38, 15 March 2023 (UTC)

Sorry I looked it up real quick, you are right. Since you are right, why were players getting signed on the 13th? Manny Manatee (talk) 19:39, 15 March 2023 (UTC)

I still don’t understand why you are saying I duplicated it. I wrote the whole thing in my own words. Manny Manatee (talk) 19:43, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
@Manny Manatee, the 13th was the start of what's referred to as the "legal tampering" period in which players may negotiate contracts. They cannot actually sign with another team until the 15th.
Regarding the duplicated content, it doesn't have to do with what you wrote in the free agency section. It looks like you accidently copied everything that was below the free agency section and pasted it, resulting in sections being duplicated. Mistakes happen, it's not a big deal. Hey man im josh (talk) 19:47, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
It is a big deal, because I did it on Accident, and now 5 hours of my work has been wasted. Here, I found something that says it starts on the 13th. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ Manny Manatee (talk) 19:50, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
So you deleted everything, because I accidentally copied everything and then deleted the copy, this is no joking matter, I am really fed up. I am way more fed up then when the refs ruled the pass fine on the music city miracle. Manny Manatee (talk) 20:06, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
Alright, if you want to attempt to troll (regarding your "source"), then I'm done attempting to help you. Hey man im josh (talk) 20:44, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
You weren’t helping anyways, all you were doing was wasting my time, I don’t know why you think you were helping. Manny Manatee (talk) 21:06, 15 March 2023 (UTC)

Time change

Hey, Josh,

I hope you are doing well this week. I just wanted to remind you about the upcoming time change this weekend (I believe Canada follows this custom as well). This is probably an unnecessary reminder but I thought I'd note it any way as date and time plays such a key role in determining when we tag and delete expiring drafts. But I know my screen displays both my local time and UTC time and yours might as well. It's nice for those few weeks of the year when the time period from six months ago aligns with our current time period and you don't have to make mental adjustments. And it looks like after a couple heavy G13 days of over 200 drafts, we have several lighter days coming up.

Any way, thanks again for all you do here and have a good weekend (minus one hour!). Liz Read! Talk! 23:25, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

@Paulmullinwrexham, it's typically best practice not to edit the articles of those you personally or professionally know. See WP:COI. No problem, happy to help. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:21, 21 March 2023 (UTC)

Drue Tranquill's number

Just saw you removed his number. Just wanted to let you know where the number came from. It was actually from his Twitter account from a picture of him holding up a jersey, specifically this tweet. Josh Williams (the previous #23) confirmed this as well making a post asking about a new number here. I added that myself, it wasn't one of the situations where IPs pull a number seemingly out of nowhere and add it.--Rockchalk717 05:22, 23 March 2023 (UTC)

@Rockchalk717: Woops, my bad. Thanks for letting me know, and sorry, I must have missed that it was added by you. Had I realized that I wouldn't have touched it. Hey man im josh (talk) 11:38, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
No worries. Figured you probably thought it was another IP adding a random number they pulled out of their...well I try not to cuss on here but I think you know where I'm going there lol.--Rockchalk717 15:58, 23 March 2023 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you for reviewing my redirects. I know it must be tedious work. QuicoleJR (talk) 16:36, 23 March 2023 (UTC)

No problem @QuicoleJR. It's not so bad when the redirects make sense, are straight forward, and appropriately tagged like yours are =P Keep up the good work! Hey man im josh (talk) 16:37, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
Thanks! I try my best to make good redirects. QuicoleJR (talk) 16:42, 23 March 2023 (UTC)

Panzer tank

Hi, it seems like you recently created a disambiguation page for Panzer tank. However, it seems that there is already a redirect Panzer which targets to Tanks in the German Army and another similar topic is German tanks in World War II. I am in favor of deleting your dab page, or pointing Panzer tank to one of the two existing articles, but want to see what you think. Natg 19 (talk) 00:32, 24 March 2023 (UTC)

Hey @Natg 19. Honestly, I was most way through making it and I wondered whether it was even necessary. It was partially in response to a redirect that was being requested at WP:AFC/R. Do you think the content may be worth including at Panzer (disambiguation)? Hey man im josh (talk) 02:57, 24 March 2023 (UTC)

Thank you for putting the work in to create them! Hey man im josh (talk) 14:52, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

Hi there. You reviewed a page I recently made that's on the chopping block. I'm new here relatively, so may you tell me where you left it? ContributingHelperOnTheSide (talk) 21:58, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

@ContributingHelperOnTheSide: I don't have an opinion on the subject. I marked the subject as reviewed as part of the New Page Patrol process. It's standard for us to mark any page sent to WP:AfD as reviewed, as the page is essentially undergoing community review and will not need to be reviewed by the NPP team. Hey man im josh (talk) 23:41, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
Well, thanks, my apologies for the confusion. I've got a flimsy chance keeping the page afloat, it's nice to have more opinions through dialogue. ContributingHelperOnTheSide (talk) 01:23, 28 March 2023 (UTC)
@ContributingHelperOnTheSide: Nothing to apologize for. Most people aren't aware of little standard procedures like that that the NPP team follow. Hey man im josh (talk) 02:23, 28 March 2023 (UTC)

Review

Dear reviewer, I would like to bring to your attention that there are no links or references to the creator of the license. The added license in question is widely used in Italy and is part of a good, comprehensive article that should report accurate information. An intellectual artifact has been mentioned, which must be included for its dissemination in Italy. Therefore, I kindly request you to reconsider your decision. Thank you. 79.34.205.173 (talk) 13:17, 28 March 2023 (UTC)

Your edit was reverted because it was unsourced. If information cannot be verified it should not be added to an article. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:20, 28 March 2023 (UTC)

I've started a thread at ANI about the user. I figured I should let you know since you've been warning them and reverting their edits. If you think a different venue would be more appropriate, I obviously wouldn't object if you reported them somewhere else. — SamX [talk · contribs] 16:41, 28 March 2023 (UTC)

Hey @Samx. It looks like they've already been banned by Bbb23 since you made that post. You're right in your report, they are certainly WP:NOTHERE. Truthfully, I probably could have made a report at WP:AIV instead of issuing my most recent warning, but I sometimes err on the side of caution by giving extra warnings. Awesome, thank you so much @Vami IV! I really appreciate it =) Hey man im josh (talk) 12:02, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

Thanks Josh

Thanks Josh for reveiwing my article Any comment on it? Harjex10 (talk) 01:42, 30 March 2023 (UTC)

Hey @Harjex10. I actually don't have any thoughts on the article, I simply marked it as reviewed as a matter of procedure. Any article that is sent to WP:AfD is meant to be marked as reviewed by the New Page Patrol, as the page is essentially undergoing community review, making it unnecessary for a member of the NPP team to review it. 2023 Horsham District Council election

Hi Josh, Can you advise me what the error(s) is that I've made in my creation of this page as I don't understand. Many thanks. Drams707 (talk) 12:24, 30 March 2023 (UTC)

Hey @Drams707, it seems like your page was moved to draft space by a relatively new user named Commemorative1. I agree with the draftificaiton, as the article in its current state is just a template waiting to be filled out. You haven't filled out most of the tables and it could be improved by adding references. Surely the candidates are known ahead of time, so that's at least somewhere to start. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:59, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
Hi Josh, Thanks for the reply. I've started filling in candidate names but stopped as it seemed futile if the page was about to be deleted. Nominations don't close until 4 April so not all names are known yet. Tables cannot be completed until after the election on 4 May. However, similar pages have been started for other UK councils with elections on 4 May without it being an issue, e.g. 2023 North Somerset Council election and similar pages for authorities like Liverpool and Sunderland. I could probably add a couple of references if it would help but I don't want to add the names of further known candidates if the page is going to be deleted. Cheers. Drams707 (talk) 13:30, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
Hi again, I've just tried to add references as requested but can't find the page. Can you advise me where to find it?
Thanks. Drams707 (talk) 13:36, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
Hey @Drams707: I checked your contribution history and found the page - Draft:2023 Horsham District Council election. Draft space is just a place to work on articles, nothing wrong with working on something there. Once it's completed and includes some references you could move it back to the main space if you wanted to. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:54, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
Hi Josh, Thanks for all your help. This is the first time I've tried to create a page and will probably be the last. I've completed as much information as is available to me at this stage. I'd like to move it to Wikipedia now but don't know how. Can you do this for me or advise me how to do it after which I hopefully won't need to trouble you again. Cheers. Drams707 (talk) 15:23, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
Hey @Drams707: Check out Wikipedia:Moving a page. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:17, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
Done! Once again thanks for all your help, Josh. Drams707 (talk) 17:48, 30 March 2023 (UTC)

Advice needed

Hey, I need your advice with something. I just rewrote Amal Dunqul from scratch, and I'm thinking of nominating it for WP:GA. I've never done this before, so I want you to informally look it over if possible before I cross the Rubicon. Maybe you can tell me if it stands a WP:SNOWBALL. Festucalextalk 20:28, 30 March 2023 (UTC)

Hey @Festucalex: I've never actually gone through the GA process myself, so I'm not really the best to advise you on it. With that said, one tip I have is to add more references and citations. I feel as though most Good Articles will have more than 9 references. Hey man im josh (talk) 11:58, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
Ah well, I thought of asking the first expert-looking user I saw. I'll see if I can ask someone else, or maybe ask in the Teahouse. As for references, There just aren't many good sources out there. Most of them regurgitate the same 5 factoids about the man. I went out and actually borrowed Dunqul's biography (written by his wife) from a guy I knew had it in order to write the article. Festucalextalk 12:24, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for the kind words! I wish you the best of luck in getting your article up to GA status. Don't take article criticisms harshly, just work to fix what's been pointed out. It's a grind sometimes but GA standards are high. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:32, 31 March 2023 (UTC)

User page

I am seeking clarity on why the Shree Shree Shambav page has been blocked. All information provided is factual and properly cited. Any insights you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Shree Shree Shambav (talk) 15:46, 31 March 2023 (UTC)

@Shree Shree Shambav: The page was not blocked, it was deleted. Please see the note left on your talk page and WP:NOTWEBHOST, as the page was deleted for WP:NOTWEBHOST violations. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:38, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
I apologize for my mistake. Could you please assist me in identifying which content needs to be removed from the user page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shree Shree Shambav (talkcontribs) 13:48, 1 April 2023 (UTC)
@Shree Shree Shambav: I'm sorry, I review a lot of pages and I cannot recall what was on your page. I'm also not an admin so I cannot review see pages that were deleted, so I cannot tell you exactly what was wrong with it. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:05, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for the response. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shree Shree Shambav (talkcontribs) 13:28, 3 April 2023 (UTC)

Speedway redirects and page pending

Hello Hey man im josh, thanks once again for checking my articles. I noticed a message about redirects, Do I need to do anything different or is the way that I am doing them OK?

P.S I don't suppose you could have a look at Draft:Helge Brinkeback when you get a minute. It has been reverted back to draft twice and I don't get why. There are several book refs that are listed with info about him, as well as various listings elsewhere. He is not going to be found on any recent web pages (such as a team profile) because he was in his prime in the early 1950s. He is the only Swedish champion out of 70 years of champions that is missing an article page. Any advice would be great. Have a good day. Pyeongchang (talk) 14:23, 3 April 2023 (UTC)

Hey @Pyeongchang: The message about redirects was a good thing. I nominated for a pseudoright that marks all of your redirects as patrolled without humans having to do so. It's meant to help reduce the backlog of the New Page Patrol queue. As for your draft, I'm sorry, but I'm not an AfC reviewer. It looks like it was moved to draft space once and then the submission was rejected, not moved to draft space twice. You do not need to go through the AfC process and, per [WP:DRAFTOBJECT]], you are welcome to move the page back to the main space if you disagree with its draftification. If someone still disagrees with the article being ready for main space they would need to send the article to AfD. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:30, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
Many thanks Hey man im josh. Pyeongchang (talk) 14:32, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
