NRHPs

I am happy to notice you added pics to National Register of Historic Places listings in Missouri, Counties J–K and some other Missouri NRHP list-articles, and then further that you've added yourself to WikiProject NRHP. Hi and welcome from a fellow member! :)

The Missouri NRHP list-articles were only recently developed out into the format they are in now, and there's room for further development of their format. For example, the Jackson County table within the J-K list certainly is huge enough on its own to be split out into a National Register of Historic Places listings in Jackson County, Missouri. I think that User:Lvklock and I were in a rush during June, towards meeting an arbitrary July 4 deadline of bringing them into the table format, and we didn't get around to making that split which would have been well-justified. You could split it out now, or let me know if you'd like me to do that or help with anything else.

Missouri is a great state to be working on NRHP articles. There are few if any other regulars working on Missouri NRHPs systematically. Crucially, and unlike most other states, Missouri makes available scanned versions of its NRHP application documents for NRHP-listed properties (See Missouri-related links at Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places#State and territory specific sources ).

Please feel free to announce any new NRHP articles or photos in the corresponding announcement boxes within the main wikiproject page, shortcut wp:NRHP, and to question/comment on anything at the talk page, shortcut wt:NRHP. Glad you are on board! Regards, doncram (talk) 11:34, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Boone County NRHP

Wanted to let you know I just finished up created the last seven or eight Boone County NRHP locations. I think that there is still about that many missing pictures. Thanks again for your work! Grey Wanderer (talk) 23:30, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

  • I noticed. Good Job! It is on my list of things to do to fill in some of these pictures even though I'm not much of a photographer. I took some pictures of Senior Hall on the Stevens campus, but they didn't turn out like I had hoped. The one that may pose some trouble is the Gordon Tract Archeological Site. The site is 'address restricted'. It might be hard to get a photo. I actually found a map with the sites shown. I'm tempted to go out and take some photos, but this may defeat the whole purpose of not listing the exact place of the site. A better alternative may be to post a map like shown below. Another alternative would be to post a generic picture of the Grindstone Nature Area to represent the general area. Let me know your thoughts on this.

Not sure what Missouri does, but Pennsylvania (another state that has full nomination forms online) typically has a photo visible even for archeological sites. Perhaps you could get a closeup picture like the one at Brokaw Site, which shows the site but isn't that helpful for locating the site? Nyttend (talk) 03:02, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
Hmm, I'd think the map with a generic grindstone picture combination would be the best. That way there is still a photo on the list page. Then again I would imagine a photo anywhere inside grindstone nature area would be pretty generic even if it was one of the actual site I don't have a super strong opinion one way or the other. To reply to Nyttend: Missouri doesn't appear to put the restrict site forms online, at least the Gordon Tract Archeological Site is the only one without a link in all of Boone County. Grey Wanderer (talk) 03:08, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
I added a photo of the sign at the entrance to the park. I think it works.HornColumbia (talk) 02:56, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Monroe County, Indiana NRHP

See my comment at the talk page — you're not the only one who has posted placeholder pictures here :-) I really like the grass-level angle on the Wylie House picture; the few attempts I've made with getting pictures from angles like this have turned out to be rather poor. Nyttend (talk) 02:59, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

  • The Wylie House picture was my favorite from the bunch too. Thanks for the encouragement. HornColumbia (talk) 03:22, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
