Note that stub tags are designed for extremely short articles less than 1,500 characters or 2,000 maximum. I have reverted some of the article that you tagged that are much larger than this limit. Fox River (Green Bay)

While looking through your changes to the template for Wisconsin, I notice that you created sections for both Fox Rivers. First, is the Fox River near Illinois a region? I think it's more of a minor to moderate feature than a region. Second, you call the long river Fox River (Green Bay). I don't like that title. People in Montello don't associate that river with Green Bay, as they are very far away. The long Fox River could be considered a region, as it drains a significant portion of the state, and the Fox Cities take their name from the river. Royalbroil 02:11, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi Hubert

I am very excited to see someone with energy to develop the History of Oregon series, and am really looking forward to working with you. Although some of your edits haven't really "fit" with the way Wikipedia works, I don't think there's any reason to worry about that -- we (all) just need to figure out how to work together, which might take a little time.

If I could make one suggestion, it's this: with articles of major importance, like History of Oregon, it's important to get a "draft" up to a certain level of completeness before unleashing it on the world. This kind of runs against how lots of Wikipedia works, where people are encouraged to just start something, with the expectation that it will get better over time; but in this case, the History of Oregon section of the Oregon article is already reasonably comprehensive, and has had input from a wide variety of editors/perspectives. Until a draft surpasses that level, it makes sense to keep it out of the "main" space, that is, have it somewher that we can work on it collectively, but where random readers won't stumble on it and mistakenly believe that it's the best Wikipedia has to offer on the subject.

In this case, there is already a draft we've been working on, and I really hope you'll take a look and work on that. It lives here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Oregon/History of Oregon. You also might want to look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Oregon/History.

Long story short, just because people are reverting some of your changes, doesn't mean they're not welcome; it's just, in some cases, what you're doing goes against decisions a lot of people had a part in. I hope you will become a part of our future decisions, though; Wikipedia is nothing if not flexible, and the contributions of anyone with a passion for a certain subject are invariably a good thing. If you'd like to join Wikiproject Oregon, please do, though it's really not required for anything you'd want to do; just a useful tool for collaboration. -Pete (talk) 02:16, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Please be careful with the reverts

When more than one editor reverts your work, usually the best thing to do is not revert it back, but to start a discussion. I realize you have asked in numerous edit summaries to give you time to work on whatever it is you have planned, but like Pete has pointed out above, this is not usually the way Wikipedia works. I'd like to point out our prohibition against edit warring. Well-intentioned or not, this type of behavior can get you blocked. Attempt at template definition

I successfully constructed a "pass through" template for education in the United States (similar to geography). Can't seem to get the darn thing to "hide". Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?
