Wiki-meetup Nashville on Labor Day weekend!

Wiki-meetup Nashville will be September 5–6 (Labor Day weekend) 2009. No conference rooms or libraries. Food, beer and conversation, maybe even a show. So come either day or both! --EdwardsBot (talk) 00:14, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Stubborn editor tampering with the Lisa Kelly article

Hey Huntster,

We got a stubborn editor, 75.23.77.202 (talk), who is keen on keeping Lisa Kelly’s actual birth name out and just have it read “Lisa Kelly”. I was hoping I may get your help on this one...cuz at this point, it doesn’t seem like this editor isn’t going to back down on this. Thanks. KeltieMartinFan (talk) 20:14, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Huntster, I need your help with this asap. This editor is not backing down on his ways with this article. KeltieMartinFan (talk) 12:09, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Hey you

Hey Huntster. I noticed that you updated your page recently. I wanted to mention that there was another "vandal" thingie a couple weeks ago, if you check your page history. I reverted and blocked the "editor" - and due to his reply, another admin made it an "indef". So, just saying - I guess you can up that "vandalized" thingie by one. Anyway, it seems like ages since we talked. I miss that. I know you have a busy life and all, but please don't ever forget how much I look to you for what is right. I hope you're still keeping an eye on me my friend, I've gotten a bit "bold" at times lately. Yank me back in when I get stupid please. If you're thinking about going to that Nashville "meet-up" ... PLEASE .. let me know. I'll find a way to get there. I so owe you a few drinks! Hope all is well, and all my best buddy - Ched. — Ched :  ?  06:36, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Re: W for We're

Hey Huntster, I'll double check around about the W (We're) thing.. I don't think it's a hard and fast rule, but I used to work at WKPT-TV, and the W was used in promotions when the station first signed on the air, as We're Kingsport (in fact, it was actually "We're the ones in KingsPorT," to distinguish Channel 19 from the other stations in nearby Johnson City and Bristol. I also know specifically, that WLAC in Nashville was promoted as "We're Life And Casualty," meaning the insurance company that put the station on the air, WTVC in Chattanooga was We're TeleVision Chattanooga, and WHBQ in Memphis (We Have Better Quartets--alluding to the old radio promotions). Some stations used variants of the W, as World's Best Textiles (WBT, Charlotte), and Welcome South Brother (WSB, Atlanta), but the stations that I have a list of, definitely used the W to mean "We" or "We're." I've got the list somewhere, and will forward it to you ( or the appropriate website) Csneed (talk) 02:55, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Mini Schnauzer picture wars

There is no point in a war over these pictures. I've included them both. The classic head shot is a fantastic picture, I agree. But the other user will keep adding the picture (it is back again). I moved some pictures to the gallery, and expanded the captions. I also took some out. How many salt and peppers do we need. We could use some of the other colors, even if they aren't accepted as "show" in AKC. I saw my first white mini the other day. Auntieruth55 (talk) 20:11, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

New seasons of all CSI and Law and Order Shows being put up

Hello Huntster, Trista here. There is a small, stubborn little group that is putting up the next season of all the CSI and Law and Order shows, with absolutely no citations whatsoever. I am afraid to blank them, as then I will get flagged. Any advice to me? They are not all the same people, but there is one person who is responsible for much of the page creating. Thank you. question

If moving to Pennsylvania would be an option - perhaps I could help. You have my phone number from my confidential info that I sent in the event that my WP:RIP would need to be addressed. I don't want to pry, but you have been a good friend that I would be willing to help in any way, shape or form that I could Huntster. My thoughts and prayers my friend. — Ched :  ?  23:22, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

do you still get email through the wiki-link? I have an offer to make if you would be in need, and willing to relocate. — Ched :  ?  06:32, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Yep...

I'm pretty dumbfounded at the moment. ;) I'm wondering if I'm working with a prodigy that I soon won't even be worthy of. I've seen some absolute brilliance come his keyboard - and at times I'm downright intimidated. I guess I'll hang on as long as I can, and try to learn as much as I can. ;) — Ched :  ?  03:58, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Just remember, you're an admin, so don't be afraid to swat them down if they become to uppity ;D Huntster (t@c) 04:30, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
LOL ... I'll keep that in mind. ;) ... after all, I did have a good teacher ;P — Ched :  ?  04:35, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Absolutely! I mean, this is our website...we just let the others play here, right? :D Huntster (t@c) 04:37, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Damn straight! :D — Ched :  ?  05:01, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

2009, August

Aww Crap ...

Now I've gone and done it. Can I come and hide here for a while? ;) — Ched :  ?  10:45, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

I'm surprised I haven't gotten any fallout over it really. I know FT2 is a pretty high ranking editor around here, and I was a tad afraid that he'd land on me pretty hard for closing that. I just thought that the whole thing had pretty well played out and all. I mean, after Jimbo and ArbCom - where else is there left to go really? It seemed to me that both Bish and Daed both admitted to regretting a couple posts that got overly emotional - and neither one of them seemed to want to pursue anything further. I didn't see reviewing things that had happened 2 years ago as terribly productive either. I've never worked with Bish on any articles or anything, but I do rather enjoy a couple alt. persona things she's got going on. Seems like a nice girl/lady with an enjoyable sense of humor and all. I guess I was worried about nothing really. Hopefully time will mend some of the wounds, and things will be better in the future.  :) — Ched :  ?  04:07, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Convert bug

Thanks for fixing the bug in {{convert}}. We didn't, however, kill the bug, only side stepped it. I tracked that bug down to {{precision}}.

Template:Precision (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

It's alive and well. I've got a new version on the talk page which kills the bug. JIMp talk·cont 00:39, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Could you check the Template:Precision/testcases page? It appears there are still some inconsistencies, even with the proposed new version. Plastikspork (talk) 00:55, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
The inconsistencies are due to the limits in the capacity of the system in term of the number of significant figures it can handle. JIMp talk·cont 01:01, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Thank goodness for these dawgone geeks we have gnoming around here huh? — Ched :  ?  06:28, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Could you check those changes you made again? Talk:Rudolf Caracciola has an example now where the convert template reports "Expression error: Unexpected < operator|Expression error: Unexpected < operator|(Expression error: Unexpected < operator)|Expression error: Unexpected < operator". Oops

In violation of #12b, (and in light of some recent reading I've done), I post the following link for your reading pleasure. ;-) — Ched :  ?  10:34, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

did it get a smile? — Ched :  ?  11:42, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

NCIS: Los Angeles Episode 1.01 Press Release

Link is a press release from CBS, regarding NCIS: Los Angeles. It lists Barrett Foa as a recurring cast member. Is that enough proof? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andrewconnell (talkcontribs) 21:14, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Just in case you're wondering why Tennessee's county templates are the colour they are — they (and those for the other 49 states) are colour-coded to match the state template. Nyttend (talk) 13:05, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Does anyone know why User:Dufekin picked that particular color for Tennessee? --Orlady (talk) 13:45, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

GA reassessment of Hayley Westenra

I have conducted a reassessment of the above article as part of the GA Sweeps process. I have found some concerns with the referencing which you can see at Talk:Hayley Westenra/GA1. I have placed the article on hold whilst these are fixed. Thanks. Jezhotwells (talk) 20:23, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

seriously though Huntster, thank you. I feel silly here. There are sooooo many people who suffer so much more, and I'm sitting here feeling sorry for myself. I have to admit, I kinda wish you had more time to spend bullshitting and all ... but I am so grateful for all the time you've always spent to be there when I needed someone here. I saw some of the pics from Nashville .. DAMN I wish I could have made it. It's just been a very rough week here, and I'm being a jerk of a drama queen. Thank you for always being there when I need a friend. ;) — Ched :  ?  04:55, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
Woohoo, I've been blocked! Now I can get out of the house and go do...um...what do people do when they aren't editing? I feel lost. Seriously, everyone has rough weeks, so never feel like you're causing drama because of it. You're not. Huntster (t @ c) 09:13, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
Well ... if people aren't editing Wikipedia ... they're simply "wasting time" ;~) — Ched :  ?  00:08, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Barnstar

The Friendship Barnstar
I'm not sure how you always seem to know - but from the beginning you've always managed to be there when I needed it. You're a true friend Huntster, and I appreciate it more than you could know. Oh, and thanks for allowing me my humor outlet at your expense. All my best. ;) — Ched :  ?  23:52, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Belated thank you

It was a pleasure meeting, eating and conversing with you at the Nashville meetup. Sorry that the show got rained out, we could have talked more there. We had all kinds of good conversation on our side of the table there at brunch. Incredibly, I had to explain the joke behind your t-shirt to our tablemates; what the hell do they teach kids these days? Mentos + Coke = high-powered good times. I hope I run into you again sometime. :-) If you'd ever like to collaborate on anything on enWiki or just need a hand, please don't hesitate to drop me a line. Until then I remain yours truly, User:Bullzeye contribs 00:01, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Sun Dancer edit

Hi there, I thought something was wrong! When I saw the figure I instantly new it was too small so I calculated it for the correct one. But, to lose roughly half the internal volume to storage et al is somewhat large, especially considering its application. I hope the source is correct, or that no misunderstanding has occurred. Thanks for your attention. Wiki User 68 (talk) 09:56, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Removal of PROD from Halfway Down the Stairs

Hello Huntster, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot to inform you the PROD template you added to Halfway Down the Stairs has been removed. It was removed by Snigbrook with the following edit summary '(add chart position, remove prod)'. Please consider discussing your concerns with Snigbrook before pursuing deletion further yourself. If you still think the article should be deleted after communicating with the 'dePRODer,' you may want to send the article to AfD for community discussion. Thank you, SDPatrolBot (talk) 20:47, 25 September 2009 (UTC) (Learn how to opt out of these messages)
