Brian Haberlin[edit]

Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for working to improve the site with your edit to Brian Haberlin, as we really appreciate your participation. However, the edit had to be reverted, because Wikipedia cannot accept unsourced material or original research. This includes material lacking cited sources, or obtained through personal knowledge or unpublished synthesis of previously published material. Wikipedia requires that all material added to articles be accompanied by reliable, verifiable (usually secondary) sources explicitly cited in the text in the form of an inline citation, which you can learn to make here. If you have any other questions about editing, or need help regarding the site's policies, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks. :-) Nightscream (talk) 23:18, 1 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Regarding your recent edit to the Brian Haberlin article, is that your site? Did you write that page? Are you Brian Haberlin? Nightscream (talk) 03:54, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I am not Brian Haberlin himself, but I am a relative of his. That site is run by the Haberlin family and serves as a way for all members of the Haberlin family, both in Hawaii and the mainland, to learn more about our heritage. Ihaberlin (talk) 00:17, 5 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much, it's nice of you to explain. You might be interested to see the heartsearching discussion about this at the Wikipedia:Reliable Sources Noticeboard. It'll show you how seriously we take this sourcing business. Andrew Dalby 13:22, 5 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Amazon page does not mention that middle name, except in the comments section, which would be usable under WP:USERG. I don't know about Geni.com, but if you send me the link, I'll ask at the Reliable Sources Noticeboard if it's permissable under WP:IRS. Nightscream (talk) 02:48, 5 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If not accompanied by a reliable source, then yes, it violates the policies mentioned in my February 1 message above. I'll see what the RSN has to say about Geni.com. Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 03:04, 5 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
From what I'm being told at RSN, that site is an open wiki, and open wikis are not reliable, because anyone can edit them. Nightscream (talk) 17:06, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for July 13[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Luso-Indian, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Estado Novo (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
