Lost Lexicographers[edit]

You appear to be wanting to write a dictionary. The project that has the goal of writing dictionaries is Wiktionary, which is over there. Wiktionary welcomes editors who want to, say, provide quotations demonstrating the uses and ages of idioms such as "bee's knees", provide meanings for them, or provide usage notes for them. What is more, rather than everything being confined to a single article as you would have it here, every word and idiom has its own article at Wiktionary, with room for its individual usage notes, quotations, etymologies, meanings, translations, and so forth. Don't be a Lost Lexicographer wandering Wikipedia in search of a dictionary. Come to where the dictionary is and do the lexicography where it is very welcome. You can start by looking at the entries in wikt:Category:English idioms and wikt:Category:English slang and improving them with any quotations, meanings, and usage notes that you have. Outdated Slang[edit]

Hey there, wouldnt normally post on peoples webpage but although Ive voted for your article on list of outdated english slang to be deleted, if you continue work on it which from reading the discussion you want to, you might want to consider my comment regarding regionality of words. I give an example on the article for deletion page, but also some of the words possible have one or more slang meanings which you would need to consider. If they wont let you work on it on ur userspace, why not use a free website like yahoo offer or something and work on it there, that way you dont have the interference of Wikipedians! --PrincessBrat 20:28, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Responding to Wikiquette alert[edit]

Sarah, as an outside observer, I find that your comments about Nazis, "British" cultural identity, etc., are unhelpful to any meaningful discussion regarding the article. Please keep your opinions about the behavior of the British Empire to the proper Wikipedia pages or to yourself. The article has already been clearly marked with the controversy about the naming of the islands, Sarah, as an outside observer, I find that your comments about Nazis, "British" cultural identity, etc., are unhelpful to any meaningful discussion regarding the article. Please keep your opinions about the behavior of the British Empire to the proper Wikipedia pages or to yourself. The article has already been clearly marked with the controversy about the naming of the islands, the majority of the world calls it the British Isles (Wikipedia is not central to one English speaking country), and the term "British Isles" is not offensive per se as the name is historical. Reply: Yes, the term is offensive per se. The term "Nazi" is also historical, yet you appear to find it offensive when applied to the British Empire. "the majority of the world calls it the British Isles" - you have a reference perhaps? If not, then please keep your opinions about the issue to yourself. Your edits to Loudness war are right on the money[edit]

I watched your argument with Jrod2 and I think your edits were totally appropriate while his are hindering development of several articles. I will revert him as much as appropriate and allowed by 3 R policy whenever I see suspicious edits. --Rert2 23:43, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch![edit]

I noticed you deleted the external link of an editor who is an obvious single purpose account and intention [2]. Good catch! BTW, I hope you don't resent me for asking another editor to review your edits a few days ago. Sorry for that. Jrod2 11:50, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey body, long time no see. Your favorite page is undergoing some potential changes by a new user CuteStudio. You always have a neutral opinion so maybe you can help in with your comments at the Loudness war. whatever, you think is appropriate I will support as I know you come from a good neutral POV. Jrod2

Yeah, 3rd Opinion. I am about to leave a comment supporting your position. I did also advised that to the new contributor. Have a nice break and don't forget to check in WP when you can .Jrod2 03:52, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.
